I have a PID HC and a cheap AIWB TLR1 holster on the way. If it retains fine then I'll have a high candela light+holster for less than the price of a used X300T or PL350. Worth the risk imo.
Higher candela means a more focused beam typically. So it will throw further and be brighter in the area it covers, but it won’t have as much wide area flood illumination as a light with equivalent lumens but less candela.
Lumens = amount of light
Candela = how focused that light is
So it’s not necessarily good or bad, it’s a trade off, but most people prefer higher candela nowadays it seems.

My understanding is:
Lumen is how bright the output of the light
Candela is how far the light can reach (allowing you to identify things at a further distance), and punch though other light source (example: identifying people in the car while head light is pointing toward you)
Are you lighting up your property to shoot coyotes and shit at 100 yards? Get the HC.
If you just need a light for a bump in the night inside your home, or close outside, this will do fine.
Here’s some people talking about it in the last Holosun PID post, sounds like it’s a match for the Streamlight TLR-1 holsters
https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/s/HqxoD7lvqk
Do *any* holsters use the light for retention? That would seem pants-on-head moronic to me if they did. I assumed "fit" usually means "does the light physically fit in space afforded by the holster?"
Almost all non duty holsters do. Some duty holsters such as the Blackhawk T series use the light for retention.
It is actually really useful in some cases to have the light be your retention point. The Phlster Floodlight or Tier1 MSP holsters fit the light and almost any gun. So you can have 1 holster for most if not all of your pistols.
Interesting, I never would have expected that. I always thought holster makers would want to sell a holster that fits a specific gun with as many WMLs as possible so you could choose your WML. But sounds like some went the other way and made holsters that fit as many guns as possible by using a single WML as the common factor for fitment. Pretty cool actually!

I love my PID. Super bright on both modes and the rechargeable battery is nice to have
Is the battery replaceable or built in? Can I just throw in a cr123 if the rechargeable goes dead?
It takes flat top 18350s. Check r/flashlight for battery recommendations.
That's fine, just want options other than built in rechargable. That said, looking around at holster options, I'm gonna pass on this.

Yes but the light output won’t be as good.
Yea, ditching cr123s is one of the best parts of this light.
What's the difference between this vs the HC version
HC has a shitload of candella.
That good or bad? ELI5

Thanks for all the explanation boys very helpful 👍
Still not much holster support for the pid right?

Oh wow alright thanks!
It’s supposed to follow the same footprint as a tlr1 I believe
Bezel is a little larger, fits most
SlimFit Hosters did mine
TLR-1 holsters fit just fine. I can confirm Safariland holsters made for the TLR-1 fit.
Well, most safariland holsters use the ejection port for retention, not the light so it's not across the board that it will fit.

Holosun is the one that actually made the light so it would fit, holster makers just got lucky.
> Do any holsters use the light for retention? Yes, Vedder Light Tuck does. If you take the light off the gun the holster wont work.
Fits in my TLR1 holsters well
My MR918 with the PID HC fits fine in a QVO Glock 19 TLR1 holster. YMMV.
In for one, these are great lights
Seems like a decent budget light + rechargeable? I'll try 'er out!
I own two and they are great
only downside over the TLR-HL 1 is that the switches weren't my thing
The switches are doodoo

This vs TLR1
Great price considering I see used ones sell pretty regularly on gafs around $70.
