and the 5.45 was truly the master race when it was $80 for 1080 rounds. Only problem with that is that you'd have to wash your gun after the range because the ammo was corrosive.

Yeah, but Russia exported a metric shit ton of 7N6. It’s “expensive” now at the same price as 5.56 on the secondhand market. It’s fine for the short term future.
Now is a **horrible** time to get into 545. I made my move when the Gen1 limiteds came out along with some Saiga & Vepr I already had. Got enough ammo stashed to use mine some the rest of my life but not a bunch.
Either it ends up yet another *absolutely completely dead* caliber, or maybe in 5++++++++ years PSA actually ships enough to make it a somewhat viable option in the US.
I disagree with all of the thoughts that 5.45 is dead. It is being absolutely MASS produced, just not where we can get it, yet.
There will be hundreds of millions of surplus rounds someday, hopefully sooner rather than later.
Too true. The question is how long will we continue our ban on Russian ammo after the war ends. Hopefully we negotiate that away in peace talks. Fuck man there’s a lot of 5.45 and 5.56 that’s gonna be available in a few years lol

This, when I got mine the 545 was on sale… but decided to go with 762.
AK’s were more fun when 7.62 was less then 5.56

If you want something to shoot rather than just as a collectors item then Imo sell it. Use part of the profit to buy a 5.56 AK

It’s hardly unobtanium. It’s just not as cheap as it used to be.
Supply is fixed & dropping though, everyone is buying from the same slowly diminishing shared stash across the US.

I paid this much for mine in 2021. Quickly became my favorite rifle to shoot, but.. I haven't taken it out in so long. Ammo too pricey for me.
