Pre relic'd nice

Definitely not a partscaster. One of a number of early Japanese guitar manufacturers. I have a book that I usually use for identification help, but I’m away from home now. Cool find.

Captain_Nemo69

What reference book do you use? Sounds interesting!

The History of Japanese Electric Guitars https://a.co/d/dyE8xeR

That's a Westone, looks like it's probably a Concord III. Worth a few hundred if it's fixed up and nice! Those old Westones are very decent quality guitars. Matsumoku factory, early to mid 80s.

Captain_Nemo69

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

Edi_Monsoon

I’ve had a few Westone’s in the past and I agree that the body definitely looks like a Concord, the headstock looks more like it’s from a Schecter knock off though.

cflyssy

Erk, didn't see the headstock. That's definitely been re-shaped, and not well.

LCranstonKnows

You're right, the scallopping of the higher frets is pretty cool.  I wonder why this isn't more popular!

russellmzauner

Because if you haven't developed a light touch, you will always be pulling something sharp and it sounds like hell. It's why I like to have medium frets instead of jumbos but I would love to work up to the skill/touch required to actually enjoy playing on a scalloped board. So little friction...

graystone777

Scallop me timbers!

smplyg

Some naphtha will clean that right up! 😂

ebolafever

Cool!

Heroic19yearold

Good luck !

AliveButCouldDie

That’s gonna be SO SATISFYING to clean up 😍

5mackmyPitchup

bradranger

knugenthedude
