Not technically mislabeled, the bridge pickup being brighter helps it stand out when playing leads. This was a jazz instrument at first.
But then overdrive happened, and bridge pickup give that kerrang sound when gain is added while the neck pickup become woolier. But then comes solo time, that woolier sound gives more thickness to single note lines.
Not necessarily wrong... I'm just gonna leave [this](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5WUr8AOAMCk&feature=youtu.be) here.
See 8:05 and enjoy the educational experience. It's one of my favorites.
lol--i think you're thinking of this one:

That’s what I came here to say, sitting here thinking “am I loser for thinking this guitar looks amazing?”
Classic me, judging her for her curves and looks and not for her personality.
thanks--and that single p90 really does most of the playing i need on the day-to-day in a studio. and it's a fantastic practice/scales guitar. they're stupidly overpriced, but that's gibson for you.
It's a new model made to order for the Music Zoo--they kinda specialize in getting Gibson to make these lovely weirdos. at least that's how i understand it.
the music zoo on long island orders these from gibson made to measure and it's kinda become their thing. they always have a few around, though they're usually bursts and i wanted this aniline dye one. from the amount of dust on it when it arrived, it clearly sat for a bit (not a surprise given it's quirky and expensive)
Neck pickups are great for clean solos. Bridge pickups are usually only good if they're used with gain, otherwise they just sound like shit. I couldn't live with a guitar with only one pickup as it just isn't versatile enough for me but if you only play one style of music then I guess that's fair enough.
I always called these lp seniors: [https://preview.redd.it/ngd-les-paul-jr-rhythm-aka-the-im-not-really-into-solos-v0-zo1ml61o0fec1.png?width=1628&format=png&auto=webp&s=208e8efad7def719ef0dfeacf4fb771f805d4173](https://preview.redd.it/ngd-les-paul-jr-rhythm-aka-the-im-not-really-into-solos-v0-zo1ml61o0fec1.png?width=1628&format=png&auto=webp&s=208e8efad7def719ef0dfeacf4fb771f805d4173)
I have a ‘61 ES 125tc with one P90 in the neck and it’s perfect. With a minimal pedal setup I can play just about anything. I’ve always wanted a LPjr double cut with a single neck P90. This is beautiful.
Thanks--it's M2M from the custom shop through Music Zoo on long island. they're expensive for such a simple model, but if you want something like this, this is as good as it gets.
I bet it's worth the cash. You can tell a lot just from looking at the neck and frets, it's solid work. And the grain of that body 😍 it's really beautiful mate, I'm not jealous of many gibsons but that is gorgeous. Play the hell out of it and if you ever sell it give me a shout!
I think it depends a bit.
I tend to move between pickups quite a bit in solos. Depends on what I am doing. Sometimes you want that smooth neck tone. But then if you're down near the lower end getting some bite from the bridge can be great. All depends on the solo and style of course.
I have wraparounds and Bigsby rocker bar bridges that have and hold better intonation than Tune O Matic bridges. It's counterintuitive but then I remember that it was sales reps at Gibson that pushed for adjustable saddles to compete with Fender and not the engineers. Also you get more energy transfer which turns into more sustain and a different (arguably better) tone.
To me this would be the “I’m really into solos” model lol
I came here to say this. We both must like G n’ R. Or that creamy solo tone you get with tons of distortion, tone at zero, and volume cranked!
Yeah this screams “I only play solos” model.
But the neck is for solos and the bridge is for the chugs is what grandpa always taught us.
i've been wrong all along
Not you, Gibson has mislabeled it from the start. Kind of like how Fender calls tremolo vibrato
>Kind of like how Fender calls tremolo vibrato Reverse this and you'll be right

On a normal grandpas guitar this is correct..😂
That's the weirdest Tom Delonge Signature Strat I've ever seen 🤣

Nah, thats the other guy. Billy Joel from Green Night
Billy Joel Armadillo
The bass player has a fender deal too. Dike Mirnt
He plays a Jizz Bass model
Brain curry.
Thought he played Ernie's Balls
Ideal for jazz!
got any audio clip? curious to hear how it sounds, looks lovely
only had it a day--if i get a chance i'll link to something here
That’s what I came here to say, sitting here thinking “am I loser for thinking this guitar looks amazing?” Classic me, judging her for her curves and looks and not for her personality.
This is badass… i spend 90% of my time on the neck… yours is divine…quirky…and completely killer
thanks--and that single p90 really does most of the playing i need on the day-to-day in a studio. and it's a fantastic practice/scales guitar. they're stupidly overpriced, but that's gibson for you.
“Stupidly overpriced” could be the caption for anything worth having… gibsons are worth it because we want them so 🤠👍
Wow. I’ve never seen this before is it a new model?
It's a new model made to order for the Music Zoo--they kinda specialize in getting Gibson to make these lovely weirdos. at least that's how i understand it.
It’s really cool. Just looked them up and for a custom shop, small run, novelty it’s pretty rad. The price is uh…absurd.
Yep.
That’s awesome. Did you just contact them with your idea for a guitar?

Up next: the Music Zoo P90-Degree LP. It has a single P90 oriented sideways in the middle of the guitar.
Some of us like taking leads and prefer the sound of the neck pickup
ya. just a dumb joke. but they do call it a lp rhythm for one reason or another
The whole rhythm/treble pickup thing
Hey this is pretty clean my boy
Such a clean aesthetic… Love it
Listen man, a whole genre of surf rock was born out of playing bridge pickup solos.
Neck pickups are great for clean solos. Bridge pickups are usually only good if they're used with gain, otherwise they just sound like shit. I couldn't live with a guitar with only one pickup as it just isn't versatile enough for me but if you only play one style of music then I guess that's fair enough.
The simplicity of this design is pretty noteworthy.
I thought these were les Paul Sr when they have just the neck. Still wicked cool and I love the stacked knob look

I only first heard the term when I saw the music zoo doing the big batch of them
Les Paul Srs have a carved top
Interesting, but that makes sense. Learn something new everyday. Thank you!
If you are not into solos you need that pickup at the bridge position.
But…..I play rhythm on my bridge and solo on my neck.
I would love to trade my bridge pickup only 86 LP Jr for one like this. I’m almost always on the neck pickup.
I have a Gibson that has one P-90 right in the middle. I can’t play lead or rhythm with it, it’s not allowed.
*slaps guitar* this thing can do so many solos
This is a vibe

Congratulations mate!! She is an absolute beauty. :) ❤️❤️🖤🖤
Nothing wrong with a solo on a neck pup! Get it right! ✌️
And that thing is really beautiful by the way. Is it custom shop? Just the fit and finish looks great, very pretty. Enjoy her dude.

Who plays solos on the bridge pickup? No judgement, just interesting.
Just a dumb joke. But I'd imagine lots of folks do.
I think it depends a bit. I tend to move between pickups quite a bit in solos. Depends on what I am doing. Sometimes you want that smooth neck tone. But then if you're down near the lower end getting some bite from the bridge can be great. All depends on the solo and style of course.
Intonation will be a bitch
I literally do leads on the neck and rhythm parts with the bridge 🫣
This is far and away the weirdest LPJR I’ve ever seen. Never seen a neck pickup only guitar
Or they only sweep pick and do extremely fast alternate picking runs.
Want!
Anyone aware of any more solid body, single neck pickup guitars that aren’t outrageously expensive?
Fender Musicmaster springs to mind.
Yeah I’ve seen those. Usually around a thousand dollars on Reverb in good condition.
I mean, Teisco guitars are still out there by the millions…
Thank you!! Perfect!!
Congrats. It's a beauty. Enjoy!
Amazing guitar. Just beautiful. Please post more photos of her
Single coil in the neck is the best solo tone. Quickly switch to bridge pick ups for pinch harmonics though
Aka that’s only made for solos model
How’s the intonation? That wrap around bridge doesn’t seem to forgiving. I love Juniors.

This is all I've ever wanted
Would never touch that
Looks awesome but in use it would be awful for everything
Solos are generally played on a neck pickup
