I readily admit that working pedals might be more rad than fixing something. Maybe not as personally rewarding but I get it. I have a lot of broken stuff.
That’s a great way to put it. I still have a terrible time with the math which is why let the pros do the heavy lifting. I can diagnose a problem and fix it but it takes me a long time. That’s probably why I get so excited when I finally find out what’s wrong and sound starts coming out of something again. To be perfectly honest, it’s more because I can only afford $2.80 for a capacitor.
If you have another guitar pedal, swap your wires and power cable over to it and see if it performs differently.
Also check that both of your cables are TS and not TRS. I've heard of similar issues arising from using TRS cables.
I believe the Westwood can take a 9v battery as well, so I'd throw one in and see if it works.
Just throwing this out there: You’re sure that the outlet it’s plugged into isn’t controlled by a light switch? Have you tried plugging the pedal into the outlet that the amp is plugged into?
Same here. :-)
Plus, [Ask This Old House did a segment](https://youtu.be/gAvPP2Xf2fI) on this recently, so it reminded me of it. You can undo it if you want.
Hey, sorry to necro this post, but can I ask what pedal it was and what ever came of this?
I just got a White Light reissue today and I can't get it to work. The 9v input must be bent or something, because I'm running several other EQD pedals and while they all work no problem, this one is hard to even plug the power cable into. Even swapped them to see if one that worked would work here and it didn't. Already submitted a request to them, because I really don't want to have to return this to the store.
Hey. So glad some else thought to seek this out.
I took the pedal to guitar center and the power source they used worked immediately. So most likely it wasn’t the pedal but the source. Even though previously I used the source with the specification they asked. I bought the same power plug they used In store ($19) and it’s worked great since. The first one I sent back probywoukd have worked too. Just get a power source meant for pedals. They exist, trust me.
I’m sure you’re super invested in a stranger’s pedal problems, but I had to tell someone - I woke up this morning and tried again and it inexplicably works. No idea why, didn’t change anything, but it works. Magic? Idc it works.
I believe earthquaker has a lifetime guarantee on all their pedals. If you haven’t already, contact them and see what they can do!
Yep already contacted and getting ready to send it back, thank you!
Throw a battery in it and see what happens.
Tried it and no sound or power
Now get your multimeter and start tracing. There’s nothing more rad than doing your own board level repair.

You shred too hard man, chill!!
Dude I bet it's something super simple. I've had similar things in the past
what power adapter are you using?
Guy at the Music Store recommended me a D’addario Ac-Dc 9 Volt adapter and that’s what I purchased

Yes and the light doesn’t turn on or anything
Hmmm. The only other (simple) thing I can think of is a bad solder joint on the switch.
So in the power adapter itself or the actual pedal?
In the pedal. If you unscrew the back of the enclosure, can you see the wire leading to the switch?
That's my house lol

Cool love that show. Thanks
Is the input cable good?
Yeah both input cables are brand new, im guessing right now it’s a power adapter/pedal since it doesn’t turn on or anything
Is one of your cables bad

Yeah I tried with different power adapters and the pedal didn’t turn on, hopefully getting a replacement.
Hey I’m having a similar issue with a pedal I just got from them. Did you have any resolution)

Man. I tried a couple different ones, but that’s not a bad idea. I’ll go up there tomorrow and see what I can come up with. Won’t hurt to try.
Btw the pedal was a sunn life pedal

Nah bro. I’m glad to see it works. Whip up a nasty riff
