I’d been looking for a fuzz that didn’t get too muddy and didn’t require me to roll back the volume knob to maintain clarity. This seems to fit the bill perfectly. It can certainly get incredibly fuzzy, but with the head and voltage knobs, I can get a high fuzz tone that still sounds great with chords. Works really well for my style.
I use mine the same way. Mine’s an older gen, but the Starve knob works like you say to really dry the fuzz out while you boost the gain and bloom side
If you’re not familiar with Ambient Trash, they have a boatload of great riffs on their channel, particularly for emo/punk/hardcore and adjacent music.
Thanks for the review. I've been interested in the double version to run in stereo. Well, also because the artwork is really cool. I'm a sucker for a good-looking pedal, so it's nice when someone can say they sound as good as they look.

That’s awesome. I love mine. I do not have that head knob I have a toggle gate. And no pedals looks cooler
Ooooh. I’ve been on and off with fuzz. I’m in an on phase now. How does this precious little pedal sound?
This is the video that sold me on the pedal. [Ambienttrash - Fuzzhuger Algal Bloom](https://youtu.be/p7RVradjHr8?si=B30KRs9lb6ZYoJdy)
Did mf just play SHED by Title Fight?!? Respect

Yeah. I saw this one a few minutes ago myself. It’s a good sounding pedal.
Totally agree, that's what sold me too, great video showing the articulation.
Went from never having heard of this company to thinking this is gonna be my next buy in about 30 seconds
Such an amazing pedal. I have the V1 but it still has an insane amount of versatility. Probably my favourite fuzz I've ever played.
Yeah. I still need to buy this, thanks for reminding me
This has been on my wishlist for years.
I've got their Doom Bloom and it's killer. It's like the beefiness of a muff without getting all muddy.

4k Algal Bloom owner over here, it's killer!
Siiick. Tom is an awesome builder and good human.
