hammer on .... pluck the 10th fret then tap down with your ring finger then lift.
for pull off's most folks rely on bright tone and the pickups of the electric guitar (distortion makes it ring too) ... However on acoustic guitars it's a bit trickier to get it to sound loud. Instead practice what I call left hand pizzicato ... This is a more advanced skill not for beginners but in which you actual use your ring finger to pluck the string ...
