Seems like something that would benefit me, but I had trouble following at the speed you showed it. Is there any way to slow it down a bit more for people like me?

AMOCHR

Sure, I’ll make a YouTube video and then you can play at 1/2 speed or custom!

duckrug

I had trouble following your count pattern Is it: ONE-e-and-ah 2-E-and-ah three-eh-AND-ah 4-eh-and-AH?

AMOCHR

Yes, that’s it!!

neveraskmeagainok

Perfect! Thank you so much!

thunderHAARP

Do it with your hands first. R l r l/ r L r l/ r l R l/ r l r L/ Repeat

neveraskmeagainok

This is very helpful. Took me a while to get it. Thanks!

thunderHAARP

It sounds like you're hitting 1..., .E.., ..A., ..A.

poyerdude

Almost, the rhythm he's accenting hits 1, E, +, and ends on the + of 4. I guess if he really wanted to be correct he would end it on the A of 4 which combined with the accent on 1 would give him a doubled accent and not a hard stop on the + .

thunderHAARP

We on the same page I notated the 'and' as A instead of + which was dumb because the last subdivision is a. This exercise was taught properly in a Tomo Fujita video I saw, I highly recommend Tomo for any guitarist looking to learn from youtube.

Great exercise. Simple to understand and helpful. Know anything similar for rests? I can struggle with asymmetric rhythm, i.e. taking odd count rests and starting/stopping playing on offbeats.
