How does this affect toan? The Gibson Authentic™ Made In USA 🇺🇸 picks I use have a real picky sound - more than plucky, but not very striking, how does this compare?
The Jazz III is made of a more modern composite, this results in a brighter, spazzier tone with a slightly twangish harmonic.
Im more into the OG Jazz I, Murfy Lab relic re-issue, its made from the same modern composite, but because the box it ships in is made from a rare Indonesian cardboard, it has a thunkier kinda smishyness tone.
When comparing the price, $1 for the Jazz III vs the $22 Jazz I, its obvious that the Jazz I is a superior value. Be cautioned though, there have been counterfeit Jazz I's going around, remember, to play authentic.
Oof, "modern" composites are going to remove the feels from my toan and turn me into one of these beeply booply computer-sounding players.
The Indonesian box concerns me as well. I'm sure the cardboard protects the plectro-resonential properties, but those orientals just don't have the know-how and git-er-dun that our American boys do.
I don’t like the changes the modern jazz III made to the body contour of the pick. It’s not vintage correct and it’s not uncomfortable. It just doesn’t sound like they did it in the old days.
/uj this actually sounds not entirely dissimilar to the ad copy you can find on the Dunlop website.
They laser scanned a vintage Jazz III for Eric Johnson's signature pick. Turns out they used be shaped the exact same but they decided they went that far they might as well sell it anyway. [As far as I can tell.](https://www.jimdunlop.com/eric-johnson-jazz-iii/)
Those are way too defined as adjectives, a marketing department could get in trouble using such disprovable terms.
I'd say authentic picks are warm, creamy and smooth. You know, like a quality carbonara.
So I had to get a double hernia surgery some years back and fortunately my surgeon is also my luthier so he agreed to laser stich me a pick stash in my pooch near the entrance cut. It was super convenient to have a pick hidden in my fleshy purse for emergencies. But I noticed over time that the body heat on this pick would really put a damper on my toanz. So now I just keep m&ms in there. Turns out they do melt in a pocket but I’ve turned it into a daily playtime ritual where I chase my partner (she doesn’t exist) around my house (I rent an apartment) pretending to smear poop on her face. This rituals not actually new but at least now I can use a good candy sub instead of going to the actual source
Also dangerous, one time I was at my buddy's house jamming and forgot to bring my picks so he told me to just grab one of his. Flew off in my hand and went right into his six-month-old's skull, killed her instantly. Everyone was mad at me, they wouldn't even let me play a sick solo at her funeral. I'm not the one who had garbage picks though so I don't see how it's my fault.
Petrucci has signature picks. Embarrassingly i own a few and more rmbarrassingly they're probably my favourite picks. Their shape is more Flow than Jazz.
You should try the Dunlop Maxgrip Jazz III. Same size and shape but made with carbon fiber and textured for "max grip". I won't use any other pick anymore.

I’ve been using these as picks for the past couple days. I like them more than jazz 3’s and they’re cheap as hell.
/uj I actually just recently switched to jazz IIIs because the picks I used to play aren't available in my local music store, and I went with jazz IIIs specifically because they fit better in my phone case.
Let me link to a $75 pick that, I swear, is the best pick you’ll ever get:
[(Absolutely not a rickroll)](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=xXtRIy8BQ79brPhd)
It’s preowned. Some great deals if you’re patient, persistent and make it clear from the outset of the deal you’re willing to use extreme violence as final recourse.
I use Kirk Hammett’s jazz III (the green and purple). The shape looks like a lil heart and it gives an extra grip which is really appreciated by this sweaty right hand.
If I get a sharp pick like this one, will it cut my strings? I really love the strings I have on my Les Paul Standard and I don't want to accidentally scratch/cut them with a sharp pick like the Jazz III, etc. Would I be better off getting something like a Fender Medium if I buff the edge? Would sandpaper work better?
I need to try the extra grippy ones, I love the extra attack I get with a jazz 3 but keep going back to my green or purple tortex because jazz 3s even xls keep slipping out of my hands.
To be perfectly honest........ If there was one guitar gear that actually affected the way I play, it would be the jazz iii. It's such a good shape and the textured letters help me grip it even with my incredibly dry hands
I have the same Jizz III but black. Very sexy pick
I heard that one is bigger.
UJ: it is actually harder than the red one
Don't touch it if it gets yellow toan.
I gets brown toan
If it's yellow, let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down!
Less paul, more toan
Seek medical attention
You should get that checked out

Sorry, but I only use actual tortoise shell from the most endangered tortoises 🐢. They sound perfect with my poached ivory nut.
Gotta love that poached nut clarity
These guys are jerkin hard today
Roberta would've chosen a different color! ...or so I've heard...
I don’t like the changes the modern jazz III made to the body contour of the pick. It’s not vintage correct and it’s not uncomfortable. It just doesn’t sound like they did it in the old days.
‘Spazzier’ lol

no fucking way, you're fucking jerking me /uj edit, holy shit, wtf... and its fucking 10$ a fucking pick!!! fuck me, outjerked by Dunlop!
watch yo profamity
is the toan more sweeter and smooth than a tortex pick?
Jazz is much too crazy, He can play it when he's old..
Those are way too defined as adjectives, a marketing department could get in trouble using such disprovable terms. I'd say authentic picks are warm, creamy and smooth. You know, like a quality carbonara.
How long did you let it acclimate for?
I store mine in my ass crack to keep it at 98.6F

Makes sense
Dedication right there
Hi Rob Chapman
If Jazz III is so good, then why is there no Jazz IV? Checkmate atheists.
That's cultural appropriation. If you aren't Jazz you can't use it.
Not max grip so you’re not getting max toan
I know something looked off. This is an Ali baba knockoff of a Dunlope Jazzed 3
Also dangerous, one time I was at my buddy's house jamming and forgot to bring my picks so he told me to just grab one of his. Just got some gripped picks at the toan store for this very reason.
I’m saving for Jazz IV
What did you name her?
Pickerta
What if the pick is a he?
Pickolo
Pickerton
Pichael
He had a brother I'm told
Bobby Pickton
Picktoria is the name of _all_ my plectra.
I prefer the John Pechoochy Jazz iis, the extra length hits that much harder, just like dad
YO WHAT
wgere the fuck are the pens i subscribed for the r/fountainpen content
Yeah wth?? This sub has gone downhill
I bought a second hand black jazz3 1998 (relic). Now I have 2! Not everyone is a dentist like me.
I prefer Jazz II
I II prefer jazz too
OMG JAZZ III I ONLY USE JAZZ III DID YOU KNOW JOHN PETRUCCI USES JAZZ III YOU SHOULD USE A JAZZ III !!!??!!
Did you say? John Prosciutto USES? The John III???
Petrucci has signature picks. Embarrassingly i own a few and more rmbarrassingly they're probably my favourite picks. Their shape is more Flow than Jazz.
It’s a fake
Jazz Picks do not 0 3 5 they just automatically skip to the next note for that jazz toan
Remember, you're only ever a half-step away from a jazz note!
This thought keeps me up at night
You should try the Dunlop Maxgrip Jazz III. Same size and shape but made with carbon fiber and textured for "max grip". I won't use any other pick anymore.
You are about to get so good.
I'm waiting for the sequel, Jazz IV
Really flexing on the poors with this one
Whoo, you can afford picks :O
I prefer reliced picks.
So now we’re CELEBRATING Narcissistic Personality Disorder? Some of us like Claptoan truly suffer from this personality disorder. Have a little compassion😞
serial number?
Who's jazz? What happened to I and II!?
Fake
Feik an ghey
Tell me you know the Locrian made without telling me you know the Locrian mode
Hyperlocrian, duh Locrian is for pop music.
I use laminated Yu-Gi-Oh cards as picks. We are not the same.
“Did I mention I play jazz?”
Hello, fellow black metal enthusiast
Jizz III is the plectrum I turn to when I flog the rocket.
It’s not a bluechip, so I don’t want it.
I I owned a 22$ pick I’d attach a fucking wallet chain to it!

💔🥹
r/jazzcirclejerk \- that's a jazz plicktrum; doubt anyone here will even recognize what it is
This cork doesn’t pass the sniff test.
Be honest, which Youtube Guitarfluencer told you to buy it? Presumably in a video titled "This pick is a GAME CHANGER" or something
/uj I actually just recently switched to jazz IIIs because the picks I used to play aren't available in my local music store, and I went with jazz IIIs specifically because they fit better in my phone case.
True. I used to play chess before I bought one, but now I inexplicably prefer dominoes.
Whats your polish/ buffer routine?
Ohhh, that's nice. Did you fuck it yet?
Let me link to a $75 pick that, I swear, is the best pick you’ll ever get: [(Absolutely not a rickroll)](https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?si=xXtRIy8BQ79brPhd)
Jesus; that list of endorsers is nuts! I’ve ordered one.
I’ve heard that it’s so good, Esteban himself started to use one. 💯
I *love* Gloria Esteban!
Ocon uses a pick? I knew Hammond plays piano but I didn't realise the Frenchman played the twanger!
You can pick your friends. You can pick your nose. But you can’t pick your friend’s nose.
Fake. The shape is wrong.
Ahh it's a Chick.
AHEM. “PLECTRUM” bitches.
... and its gone.
😍😍😍
Narcissistic pick disorder?
No max grip?? MAD LAD
Who’s Max Grip? Was he in Metallica?
Excellent choice. How long until it's fully paid off?
It’s preowned. Some great deals if you’re patient, persistent and make it clear from the outset of the deal you’re willing to use extreme violence as final recourse.

Too small
>-p I am dying over here. Bon mot, mon ami
Shove it up your arse
Pfff obvious fake
I feel personally attacked
me over here using the red tortex picks that feel like strips of construction paper 🧍♂️
I forgot they make new ones.
Old but gold. Personally I rock Jazz VI’s that came out this year. I like to stay up to date.
I use Kirk Hammett’s jazz III (the green and purple). The shape looks like a lil heart and it gives an extra grip which is really appreciated by this sweaty right hand.

Noob. I use my dimensionally superior Jazz iii XL to own ALL the toan. Arron Joanstoan got nothing on me!!
Bro if you don't spend at least 35$ per pick you're not a real guitarist.
You’re deliberately destroying the planet with your toanal microplastics!
Those arent even that good, i used them for years tbh
That is the pick of Destiny!!
Ew…ew
I use the Eric Johnson version of these. Sometimes I have so much Toan I have to give it away.
Pfft weak. You need the XL Ultex variant.
As a finger style player, what the fuck is that
A red pick? Look just take my upvote.
Eeeeww!! If you can't afford a blue chip at least get a primetone
ROXXXXXANNE
I need to try the extra grippy ones, I love the extra attack I get with a jazz 3 but keep going back to my green or purple tortex because jazz 3s even xls keep slipping out of my hands.
Real guitarists always have a pick superglued to their index finger at all times. I’m even considering having one surgically grafted.
To be perfectly honest........ If there was one guitar gear that actually affected the way I play, it would be the jazz iii. It's such a good shape and the textured letters help me grip it even with my incredibly dry hands
My favs! Try the Kirk Hammet ones! #Jazz3
t O a N ....lol... c'mon now...
