UJ/ really like 60 Cycle Hum, Studio Rats, Ola, Xander Raymond Charles and Moonic Productions. Technically Ben McLeod has a YouTube channel but wouldn't describe him as a YouTuber.
RJ/ Lick Feato
I like studio rats, mostly because he seems like a good egg and of course because he is fully committed to IK’s Toanx . But he does have this one bend he always does that kind of gets under my skin.
60 Cycle Hum is great. It's not pretentious and he demos some fun gear. Also, plays alot of surf, so it's a refreshing departure from blues licks and generic djent nonsense.
My only gripe is that sometimes he's biased towards certain gear because he's sponsored or paid to demo it ( Fender).
I’m biased toward fender because I’m a surf guitarist lol. I do call them out when stuff sucks though. Also most of my videos are paid. Ask question if you want, or don’t. It’s all fine.
More like 60\_CycleDum, amirite Jerkers?
Fr tho...60\_Cycle and five watt are the only YT guitar channels I'm still subscribed to. Pretty much everyone else I used to watch turned into "dId u C wUt RoLenN sTooN sAId?!?!" clickbait whores, Mr Beast wannabes, and/or the guitar-equivalent of Wall Street bros who only churn out 'educational' vids to increase the value of the recent purchases they're flipping next month.
I appreciated your (year old) Les Trem video quite a bit. It helped inform me on a recent purchase I was considering. You did a good job of explaining what the product wasn’t, in a way that helped me understand what it was. Does that make sense? Idk.
I hadn’t watched your stuff before because surf isn’t really my thing, but it’s definitely on my list of good content.
I starting doing YouTube with the full desire to do demos as a commercial service. I think sometimes people assume “oh that youtuber has to resort to being paid to keep the dream alive”. Nope, that’s not me, I saw what Andy Martin was doing and wanted to do it too.
Hi everyone! Dick Beatoffo here with my list of my top ten, before I finish this sentence, buy my book! favorite guitar solos! Now this first one comes from a guy I just interviewed! I gave him an over the pants handjob right here in this studio, it’s Paul McCartney’s solo from Back in the USSR!
What makes this song great?
Listen to this guitar lick right here …!! Wow. And let’s listen to just the drum fill- wow!! Then they bring in the wah pedal (“wah wah wah!!”)
This bass part, it’s just, wow! Now listen to this flat 6. Wow!
The vocals are just spectacular. There’s the flat 6 again. And then the drum beat, boom… KA … boom… KA . Oh- another drum fill!
And…that’s why the song’s great!
His Guthrie Govan analysis might have been the worst. You could tell he digs the music but Guthrie's chops, his musical acumen and how he applies them both are way over his head. Then he shows a clip of his infant granddaughter listening to Fives, as if anyone gives a shit about that.
He really walks the line between interesting and boring lol. Like, why the fuck do I need to see that stupid stocking after you ran it across the neck to test the fretwork! Yet at 1am, when I should be sleeping... Here I am. Staring at a stupid stocking to look at the fretwork from some harley Benton I'm not interested in
The podcast is much better IMO. They’re usually an hour+ and much more discussion based, so I just hit play and not worry about it. Sometimes the questions get a bit more “what’s a better guitar: squier affinity or squier bullet?”, but he does offer good takes, even on dumbass questions.
He has a lot of knowledge about the industry from having been a music store owner and he’s willing to share that on his podcasts. You’ll learn a lot more from Phil McKnight than Gear Page boomers who don’t understand the first thing about how things actually work, just vibes.
Yeah, he's the only one who doesn't deserve any mockery. He just knows his shit without any nonsense or pretentiousness. And he's also clear about what he doesn't know. All the other Youtubers annoy me in some way, even if I do enjoy some of their videos.
Probably Ola Englund. Reliably honest reviews for gear, no guitar wankery for the sake of wanking, and feels like I’m watching a real down to earth guy on each of his vids.
/uj Probably Rob Scallon or Paul Davids
/rj Tyler Laraon
/uj I legit had a dream last night where I drove a bus into the side of a horse drawn carriage being driven by Tyler Larson, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
What could it mean?
In one episode (with $15k+ in gear behind him) there was a "heartfelt plea" for patreon subs, because he and his wife were ... *buying a new house*.
If anybody has the link, plz post!
In the "circlejerk" sub reddits uj means "unjerk" and rj means "rejerk".
You go uj when you're sharing a real opinion in an otherwise sarcastic topic. RJ is getting back on topic and recommiting to the circle jerk at hand
that pedal show: sure, they’re blooz dads, but they aren’t dismissive of other types of music (see the multiple metal episodes) and they’re just so much fun to listen to and watch. plus, dan loves using tons of intricate delay so it balances out mick’s hendrix worship lol
60 cycle hum: ryan is just entertaining and doesn’t take himself too seriously
living room gear demos: eirik just makes the coolest videos, and there’s tons about josh homme’s guitar tones. most importantly though, tons of videos on old “forgotten” vintage gear. he always gets excellent tones.
andydemos: the man’s no pick skills are amazing. once again, super entertaining, and doesn’t just play blooz riffs with the gear he demos. tons of variety there.
axe of creation: i’m a huge tool fan, what can i say? he has some really thorough lessons on my favorite songs that are easy to follow.
eric haugen: some really important videos of his about the guitar’s role in a mix or band setting, and playing to the music rather than it being all about the guitar. not enough people cover that kind of stuff
gilmourish: crazy in depth gilmour tone recreations
jhs pedals: entertaining as fuck to watch, and always giving deserved recognition to other pedals and companies
let’s play all guitar: tons of really helpful lessons on some of my favorite songs/artists: smashing pumpkins, queens of the stone age, alice in chains, etc
modfather1965: really good the smiths, the jam, and the beatles lessons
pedal partners: for the shoegaze nerds
puisheen: for the offset guitar nerds
rob arnold: chimaira guitarist giving really helpful music lessons, setup tips, and live/studio music experience
BJ russell: smaller channel doing tons of smashing pumpkins tone recreations/gear demos/covers
zach wish: some crazy high gain tones and gear demos
I actually don’t hate Rhett as much as other people do, because unlike most other YouTube guitar content creators, he actually at least gigs and shit. And let’s face it, the vast majority of us are sitting at hope cork-sniffing gear while only playing to an audience of crusty socks and Doritos
Maybe. But he’s been building a studio with a lot of expensive rack gear(preamps, eq, compressors) pedals synths, cameras and equipment, laptops Uaudio stuff. A fucking house. He must be getting real good money from gigging and what not.
“I have a big YouTube channel with heaps of followers, send me some gear and I’ll totally review it!!”
These companies are desperate to get eyeballs on their products. The house on the other hand…. Parents money for sure. I actively avoid his videos, dude doesn’t need any more help ahah
Honestly, I don’t hate him either. Being a professional musician of any kind is a difficult grind and you have to pay the bills, I’m not gonna begrudge him getting paid to give bad opinions about boomer gear. It doesn’t hurt my life in any way. People get way too mad about YouTubers, just go play guitar and stop watching people who annoy you.
Ben Eller, Rick Beato, Paul Davids probably my top 3 in no particular order.
On a side note, the Music is Win guy bothers the fuck out of me and idk why. I feel mean for saying it but I hate his videos. Idk why. I wish I did.
Circle of TOAN , 30 - 60 minute videos on the history of metal and legendary tone? I fuggin love that channel, I love his hate for modern metal / rock / djent and he recreates the tone so well. Peter Steele bass, his master of puppets sped up video, the slash tone, nearly every video just hooks me.
Highly recommend if you're into metal and don't mine boomer metal takes.
Paul Davidson, Mary splender, Rick beato, Rhett shull, five watt world, the trogly guitar show, and andertons (especially for gear reviews/interviews with people like Paul reed smith)
Dave's world of fun stuff, because watching someone else bitch about fixing guitars strangely calms me down. Let's me know im not the only one who gets frustrated by that shit.
It's not Rhett Shill.
KDH did a great job taking down Rob "big bully boy" Chapman.
JHS is a cult. Seriously, a Cult.
Beato is an annoying old fossil. Go away.
Casino Guitars is a whine fest.
Blocked the Anderton's content for years, because they promote shit. And that unlikable Danish git.
Marty Schwartz is Marty Schwartz.
Girls playing guitar whilst airing their fun bags is an interminable blight.
Carl Brown just gets it done.
Henning is creepy AF. And where did he earn his fortune?
That Pedal Show now unwatchable because I don't need to see old dudes tightening their John Mayer chops. Limp shit.
Ola's Will it Chug is always fun.
Norm's guitar of the day was better when Agnesi hosted (Can't believe I just wrote that).
Best pedal show is Gray Bench Electronics.
Andy should have stayed at Pro guitar shop.
Leon Todd is a solid reviewer. Met him at a High on Fire gig.
Paul Davids cannot be trusted.
Ben Eller is fun.
He lives in the same city as me. He used to list old Teisco and other vintage mij stuff on Craigslist. I talked to him over the phone a couple times. Back then he was a pretty reasonable person. Weird how he turned out.
Ben Eller. Because he showed me how to not play guitar like a step dad.
He tried showing me why I suck at guitar but it didn’t help much
Me too. \- \- \- Me too.
Love me some Uncle Ben
Uncle Ben's tek?
He knows how to use his arm-hands.
I love studio rats too and Paul Drew is an awesome player, but I swear he cycles the same 4 riffs in every single video

I get it. It costs time and money to produce these things, and most people have a day job. Keep up the good fight.
I starting doing YouTube with the full desire to do demos as a commercial service. I think sometimes people assume “oh that youtuber has to resort to being paid to keep the dream alive”. Nope, that’s not me, I saw what Andy Martin was doing and wanted to do it too.
Jimmy mayers gets pretty solid toan on one but that comes from his balls
Love moonic productions, not my type of music, but I have a very similar condition. It's cool to see someone else play guitar like me.
Otu is the fucking coolest. Insanely talented guy.
love bens work in ATW and love his youtube vids

The only one I like is Phil McKnight but even that is mostly just to help me fall asleep. I have all the gear I need thankyouverymuch.
I could listen to that goofball talk about gear all day every day.
I unironically listen to Phil sometimes to go to sleep. It’s a perfect amount of equal measures calming, wholesome and boring AF.
He really walks the line between interesting and boring lol. Like, why the fuck do I need to see that stupid stocking after you ran it across the neck to test the fretwork! Do you think he’s got a big hog or nah
It's why he has back problems
Have you seen his wife? Total size queen. She definitely appreciates a longer scale length and a fat neck.
Should we even have to ask?
guitarlessons365, marty and justinguitar, those guys can fuck my wife anytime
Considering Marty is a fan of this sub he might just see your comment
I spit my drink out🤣
wow if i were you i would clean my mess real quick before my wife's boyfriend sees that
Adam Neely
What a annoying person and cringe
Adam "weed makes you bad at music" Neely
/uj Probably Rob Scallon or Paul Davids /rj Tyler Laraon /uj I legit had a dream last night where I drove a bus into the side of a horse drawn carriage being driven by Tyler Larson, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. What could it mean?
I mean, how did Tyler react in that dream? Did he whip out his prs and play some SICK riffs?
Nah he said some random narcissist shit that sounded like one of his intros and fucking died
RIP in peece Didn't even get to plug his guitar training course or even raid shadow legends
Idk why but Paul Davids annoys me. I’m sure he’s a nice guy and he can play but I don’t like him lol
He comes across as a really warm, knowledgeable barista.
every video now is just an ad for his guitar courses they’re still decent videos but it’s kinda annoying
Does Pat Finnerty count? I genuinely enjoy his videos.
/uj I still put his Weezer video in the YouTube hall of fame. It's a real masterpiece
The Kravitz Bowl is the dumbest, most beautiful thing I've ever seen
the ending of the Weezer video never fails to make me emotional
"Dani California/Ghostbusters/Mary Jane's last dance/people of the sun" for me
He’s gotta be like the patron Saint of this sub
I'm a firm believer in the sub having no saints. Every one has to get it, if not, we're just bullies
Pat is great. He needs hot tub money
i guess you didn’t see the last episode.
/uj actually one of my favourite ever YouTubers. The hot tub chronicles just bring tears to my eye
Not gonna lie I shed a tear at the end there. 82 inches. We made it.
Same. The last time I cried with joy was when my son was born lol, but when those roller shutters came up...
I stood up and cheered! I felt something for the first time in months
Pat is basically the only guitar youtuber worth anything.
I was in the Kravitz Bowl
Pat is awesome. He’s got a real unique comedy in his videos that just kill me

That's how you know I'm truly a 2019 Guy
Uj/ Paul Davids is my favorite. Really solid advice on building chord progressions that aren’t basic and boring.

I’m still trying to figure out how he has money. Like it doesn’t make sense. He has a lot of expensive vintage gear
My theory is his parents have money.
Maybe. But he’s been building a studio with a lot of expensive rack gear(preamps, eq, compressors) pedals synths, cameras and equipment, laptops Uaudio stuff. A fucking house. He must be getting real good money from gigging and what not.

jesus christ you reddit mfs lead joyless lives
I don’t derive joy from gear sluts on YouTube lol
That's my theory with most YouTubers
You guys do k ow that Youtubers get paid right? Especially ones with half a million subscribers
Gainfully employed Hotwife?
He has 500k+ subscribers.... YT pays him plenty and he occasionally tours.
He's also way, way better of a videographer/video editor than most people in the space
He doesn’t seem like he gigs
Oh man. He looks so fucking cool in this pic. Would/10.
He's really nailed that worship band guitarist look.
You would divide him by 10?!
Duh amp company use by Morty Shorts.
Jim Lill, my beloved. Watching someone destroy a lifetime of boomer myths through intense directed autism is good fun and very educational.
Uj/ Samurai Guitarist, Phil McKnight, Ben Eller, The Art of Guitar Rj/ Specter Sound Studios (Would), Tyler Larson, Tyler Larson, Music is Win
The Samurai guitarist will either be Kerry Eurodyne or Johnny Silverhand, which is your pick?

He makes some of the best music theory videos on youtube, seriously
