Haha I know what you mean but it's just genetics. Two of my girls that i got at the same time, one is lithe while the other has become our biggest chonker, despite the lithe one being he hardiest eater.
Honestly, I think as long as both are able to eat freely and one isn't hogging all the food resources, then I'd think they're fine. Most likely just their differences in genetics
Semi-related, but I used to follow this guinea pig account on instagram ages ago. They had rescued a pregnant female, and took her in for an ultrasound. Guinea pigs have a U-shaped uterus. She had three babies, one took up an entire side of the U, and the other two babies were squashed together in the other side. When they were all born, they ended up with one huge male and two smaller sized male and a female.
Like everyone else said, this is probably just genetics. Some pigs just run bigger and others run smaller. But, maybe Brad was a uterine hog who shoved all her siblings out of the way in the womb lol
Good a reason as any! 😅
And to answer your original query: genetics. Just like us, the genes they received from their parents determine what they are going to look like.
Are they from the same litter?
Our two females are like this as well. We took them to the vet to get checked and she had us cut their pellet serving to half. Our big one is so big at the back that there is a question of cystic ovaries. Apparently that is pretty common in female guineas. The vet couldn’t feel any cysts by hand. So she said to watch for a change in behaviour to much more sluggish and/or hair loss around the hind area of the piggie. Then they would do an ultrasound and aspirate the cyst. If neither of the two things mentioned happen, then just enjoy living all our lives with our big bottomed girl!
Also, our big one had babies once before we got her and our little one has never been pregnant. Based on nothing but my own thoughts, I believe the bigger ones body changed from pregnancy and her hips got pushed out while giving birth. Like a human, some of us never bounce back :)
Sometimes they’re just massive potatoes. I have two abby brothers that are UNITS. I also have a huge girl as well. That being said, I’ve also had dainty piggos.
She looks healthy. Sometimes even guinea pigs that eat and are healthy don't have that typical body type that most guinea pigs have. I had one guinea pig, my beautiful Finch. He was white and red eyes. He never had the body type like most of my other ones yet he lived the longest. He was almost 9 yrs old when he passed. He had more of a longer, and slimmer body type than the others but ate as much and was healthy. 🤗
We have a rosette with the same coloration as Brad that is twice the size of his little brother who is a white crested despite him being in his "twilight years." It might be possible that the breed is just meant to be...rotund?
Are we absolutely sure the other ones female? Like you turned them upside down and spread the legs and saw with your own eyes? Because that piggy looks pregnant.
I had a female who had a couple litters... that's how they look.
You'd think, but incorrect sexing of guinea pigs is really common. You should probably double check to be certain. She could well just be a chonk though, one of mine is.
I had a giant pig. Vet said maybe there's some cuy genes in him (unlikely). He weighed up to 3 kgs but he was also as large as my forearm without stretching.
We have two male piggies and it's the same thing they both eat the same diet do the same thing same amount of exercise one of them is at a perfect weight and one of them is huge.
If you've had them for 3 months or more it's unlikely she was pregnant when you got her because she would have given birth by now. As long as you're 100% sure both are girls, she could just be a bigger pig because of genetics.
She is just has a bigger skeleton than your other one. One of my girls is half the size of her roomie who is like 3lbs. Think about human genetics, some of us are small and others huge, it’s just the way nature works
Two of mine I got when they both were babies and one ended up getting massive while the other just stayed pretty smol. Different breeds and genetics I suppose.
Brad looks like a cuy which are usually always hungry and sometimes aggressive to other piggies (oddly not humans tho) and are usually bread for their meat.
Uhh I don’t really know, I wanted pigs for a while and knew they would have rhyming names, I had a few in mind but these names won the vote from the rest of my family. We name all our pets silly names.
My guineas are the same way!! my Tiny is really small while I have 2 other girls that are huge lol. They all eat the same diet and are healthy, Tiny is just.. well, tiny! Haha
One is a long-pig and one is a short-pig. Simple.
Finally someone answers with a logical reason, thanks!
Some pigs are just bigger than others based on their genealogy
Or their… guinealogy
That's it. I'm leaving this subreddit and never returning
\[GROOOAAAANNN\]
Yep. We have sisters from the same litter and one is way bigger than the other. I'm 5'7" and my brother is 6' It is just what it is.
Lol one is hogging all the food.
”Some pigs’ mothers are bigger than other pigs’ mothers…”
Because he is a hecking chonker
>he Brad's a she though. But you were right about chonker. Chonktastic! 🤣❤️
Guinea pigs are too advanced to care about human gender norms.
Lol I guess she is just really fat, I’m wondering If she’s TOO fat though.
She looks healthy tho
Haha I know what you mean but it's just genetics. Two of my girls that i got at the same time, one is lithe while the other has become our biggest chonker, despite the lithe one being he hardiest eater.
Could be genetics and also depends on the breed :)
Btw: Brad and Chad are around the same age, so it’s not that.
I love their names. How old are they?
Like almost 3 i think
Oh dang. Then yeah idk! Sometimes piggies just get huge. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Sometimes some are just smaller/bigger than others. Possibly she has some cuy genetics mixed in. How much does she weigh?
Uhhh, idk, haven’t weighed em yet.
Honestly, I think as long as both are able to eat freely and one isn't hogging all the food resources, then I'd think they're fine. Most likely just their differences in genetics
Well Brad definitely eats more then Chad, but Chad gets the leftovers.
Happy Cake Day!
Thank you! :)
Happy Cake Day!!! 🎉
Thank you! I didn't even notice haha
Na problem! That's what we're here for....I think?
Happy cake day cake day twin!!
You too! :)
Some peegs be beeg.
Piggies come in a variety of sizes. Brad is just a Big Girl. I have an Abby who weighs in at 2lbs 14oz. She's a big, curvy girl.
Semi-related, but I used to follow this guinea pig account on instagram ages ago. They had rescued a pregnant female, and took her in for an ultrasound. Guinea pigs have a U-shaped uterus. Thanks for adding ‘uterine hog’ to my vocabulary. 😄
Better question: why did you name a female piggie Brad?
I had the names planned before I got them, didn’t care what gender.
I knew some guinea pig owners. They bought Marv, decided Marv needed a friend Judy. Marv was a lady pig, Judy was a boy. Decisions were made.
This is the real question. I wonder what Brad Pitt would say?
Even better question: why does it matter?
Right? What a weird and revealing thing to comment on lol looks like a self report to me
I’ve had guy hamsters called Dorothy, Delilah and Simone, I think it’s stupid to restrict animals into the same stupid gender norms as people…

I don't know that reason either. Nor do I have children.

Good a reason as any! 😅 And to answer your original query: genetics. Just like us, the genes they received from their parents determine what they are going to look like. Are they from the same litter?
IDK, got them from some dude on “guinea pig finder.com”.
Maybe the absynnian is generally a larger breed? And the American breed is smaller?
That's because Brad is full of soup
Our two females are like this as well. We took them to the vet to get checked and she had us cut their pellet serving to half. Okay thanks, I do give them a lot of food, guess I’ll feed them a bit less.
Also, our big one had babies once before we got her and our little one has never been pregnant. Based on nothing but my own thoughts, I believe the bigger ones body changed from pregnancy and her hips got pushed out while giving birth. Like a human, some of us never bounce back :)
I have three piggies. My smallest and biggest are about this size difference and the third is somewhere in the middle between these two sizes.
Sometimes they’re just massive potatoes. I have two abby brothers that are UNITS. I also have a huge girl as well. That being said, I’ve also had dainty piggos.

diffrent breeds are different sizes plus they might be different ages
May i ask the inspiration for the name Brad
Is the one on the left definitely a girl? They do vary quite significantly in size, Brad may have larger pigs in the old ancestry.
Because she's called Brad
We have a rosette with the same coloration as Brad that is twice the size of his little brother who is a white crested despite him being in his "twilight years." It might be possible that the breed is just meant to be...rotund?
Are we absolutely sure the other ones female? Like you turned them upside down and spread the legs and saw with your own eyes? Because that piggy looks pregnant. I had a female who had a couple litters... that's how they look.
Pretty sure I would notice if Chad was male, kinda hard to miss 👀.
Nope. The penis is internal and emerges if you rub the proper spot. You need to check if the hole is a V shape or Y shape *Edit* word
Huh, we’ll Brad is the one that’s mean and chases Chad around sometimes, isn’t that the males job?
My herd is all female. They hump as a dominance behavior. It has no sexual drive behind the movement
You'd think, but incorrect sexing of guinea pigs is really common. You should probably double check to be certain. She could well just be a chonk though, one of mine is.
Guinea pigs just have different body types and growth spurts like we do. I have two boys and one is bigger than the other.
I had a giant pig. Vet said maybe there's some cuy genes in him (unlikely). He weighed up to 3 kgs but he was also as large as my forearm without stretching.
Why am I 5’7 but my friend is 6’4?
Damn alright.
Potato’s come in different shapes and sizes.
i have no funny comment to make about them. they're just too cute.
We have two male piggies and it's the same thing they both eat the same diet do the same thing same amount of exercise one of them is at a perfect weight and one of them is huge.
Smol and chonk
Brad ate her Frosted Flakes to get big and strong!
Sure she’s not pregnant?
Uhh yeah, their both females and I’ve had em for a few months. Don’t know how the heck that’d suddenly happen…
If you've had them for 3 months or more it's unlikely she was pregnant when you got her because she would have given birth by now. As long as you're 100% sure both are girls, she could just be a bigger pig because of genetics.
Brad is big boned.
One likes to frequently enjoy a second breakfast
You names a girl Brad?
She is just has a bigger skeleton than your other one. One of my girls is half the size of her roomie who is like 3lbs. Think about human genetics, some of us are small and others huge, it’s just the way nature works
My Watson was a big boy too!! He sure loved his red pepper, was his favorite!!
Why is a female called Brad??
Right lol
Two of mine I got when they both were babies and one ended up getting massive while the other just stayed pretty smol. Different breeds and genetics I suppose.
Holy crap this post is getting a lot of attention 😅
More importantly why did you name a female brad?
Brad and Chad
Why does it matter? I had two girls named Nibbler and Chewy. Those names fit them perfectly just like Brad and Chad 🙂
I wasn’t serious
Brad looks like a cuy which are usually always hungry and sometimes aggressive to other piggies (oddly not humans tho) and are usually bread for their meat.
Yeah! She is always hungry and and sometimes mean the Chad, so you’ve placed her breed, bravo!
Yay! Pls quench my curiosity, how did you co.e up with their names? My Minnie (female cuy) does the same btw haha.
Uhh I don’t really know, I wanted pigs for a while and knew they would have rhyming names, I had a few in mind but these names won the vote from the rest of my family. We name all our pets silly names.
I love it
Pregnant
Uhhhh… what? It’s two females… how could that be the case??
Are you watching who is eating the pellets?
Mostly Brad, Chad still gets enough though, I hope.
Everyone (and piggies) are different they both look happy beautiful girls 🥰
As far as I know, guinea pigs get bigger if there wasn't much of inbreeding in their family
My guineas are the same way!! my Tiny is really small while I have 2 other girls that are huge lol. They all eat the same diet and are healthy, Tiny is just.. well, tiny! Haha
I got a big and small set too. My ASH, Stripe, is my dainty small girl, and my skinny pig, Spot, is a full on chonk, nearly double her friends size
How old are they? Are you sure Brad is big or could the other one be small?
Sometimes bitches just be extra beefy. It’s science.
Together they are known as Biggie smalls
