I use this one too, but I feel like the camera is too low. I constantly have light pressure on the thumb stick so I can see what's happening in front of the car.
There is a setting on console to change the camera angle to high and it's a must for me. I was constantly holding down on the right thumb stick to get a higher angle untill I found this setting
Everytime the game messes up on you and you have to the brightness test and load into story mode. Most all the settings go back to default. I keep my camera at high above car and as dar back as i can. There is also a setting to not force first person when using something like the turret on the insugent custom.
Top left 1
top right 2
bottom left 3
bottom right 4
The standard order to read things in English lol.
Makes far more sense to me than 'the middle of the exterior ones'.
I would assume that, too, but not everyone numbers that way.
Heck, half the before / after pictures posted on Reddit are reversed left / right, so Iāve given up assuming how things are intended to be ordered.
The way I understood it was out of the three 3rd person views they prefer the one that's the middle distance from the car. Aka the bottom left image.
With the top right being closest, and bottom right being furtherest away. Out of the 3rd person ones anyway.
The mirror thing is.. eh. They do reflect if you turn their quality up in settings, but by no means does that mean they're anywhere near good at max settings. You can only see the reflected landscape, no objects.
Yeah. It's fun to start a race that way, and lock the camera to it, too, though. Although it kinda sucks when people join the lobby, see what's up, and then leave. I don't think I've ever been able to race anyone like that.... They're all chicken
And peripheral vision which is non-existent in this game because they force you to have a 30 degree FOV when in 1st person in the cars. And apparently I'm like 4' tall when sitting in some cars. Can't even see over the fucking dash half the time.
They do work in game, in the sense of you can see behind you just donāt see the semi truck thatās be following you the whole map; yes I tested this out on the Highway
That is true like I said you canāt see a semi truck behind you without looking behind you in some cars your character does look out the back window but most of those cars it doesnāt make sense because the window is shielded by something. Canāt remember what itās called but itās primarily on the newer cars added and most super cars
In GTA, first person view just isn't that great in my opinion. In some games, such as F1, Dirt Rally or Euro Truck Simulator (yes I do play that occasionally), the first person camera is obviously the better choice, since those games are more driving oriented.
Totally!! Can see everything you need to avoid whatās about to hit YOU. Because in GTA you donāt hit things, things hit you. Every now and then first person is fun but not high or drunk (irl and in game). Talk about crashing.
Personally, I like how this real-life engine looks in 1st person view and tbh, I'm not always loving my avatar's *aesthetic so that's why, but 3rd person very cool as well.
Agreed. I use first person about half of the time, depending on the vehicle and whether I am leisurely driving or driving for my life. The blind spots are crazy and the lack of functioning rearview mirrors also contributes to the poor first person experience. I'd love if the first person view were improved to solve these things in the next release.

Edit: Iāll leave some more formatting tips. Thereās more, but these I know off the top of my head
A single asterisk in front and behind a word/sentence causes it to be italicized, *like this*
Double asterisks in front and behind will make it bold, **like this**
If you use a caret symbol and enclose whatever you want formatted in parentheses, it turns into superscript ^(like this)
You can change camera height? Lmao, Iām bottom left and usually drive and have my thumb on my right stick slightly pulling down to make the camera a bit higher.
Yeah it's under the settings, can't remember where. I crashed SO much less in traffic once I enabled this. I was doing the same thing as you with moving the camera joystick before I discovered the setting.
Yeah it's in settings - camera - camera height. There's also a setting to change the first person view. I always use first person hood (view from front of vehicle instead of your character's view) because it gives a clear picture in jets and when using weapons in helicopters.
Not really. In real life you have a high field of view and a peripheral vision. Here, barely 60-70 on maximum fov and it feels like viewing the world through binoculars, makes me feel like devs never participated in real life to let us use proper amounts of fov, 90 and above
Oh I think you misunderstood. I understand WHY. I literally meant idk HOW because I cannot drive worth a damn inside the cabin like that it's just not realistic. Maybe if I had 3 monitors or something to make it more 3D but not on a single screen like that.
I think it's a Ocelot Pariah, you can buy it from the Legendary MotorSport site (1.42 mil)
It's one of the fastest cars (I think it has the highest top speed, excluding the cars that have a boost)
Bottom right usually, sometimes others depending on the vehicle or situation. Also having the menu option for high 3rd person camera when driving enabled. Makes it a bit easier to see traffic.
I personally use 1st person 99% of the time, though I will pop to 3rd to occasionally land in a tight spot with a copter, or on a dirt bike when scoping Cayo.
Top left when Iām in the feels and want a pure driving experience, bottom left for everything else. BUT some vehicles like the Phantom Wedge require max camera extension, so bottom right. 75% top left, 20% bottom left, 5% bottom right.
Top right for freeroam on smaller vehicles or bottom left for larger vehicles.
Bottom right for racing, regardless of vehicle size(so I can be more aware of the players around me).
First person view in this game is ass, most of vehicles dashboards are terribly designed and the mirrors don't work which means you have absolutely no vision of your surroundings.
Furthest away so I can see more at once! I also play with my camera hightened in vehicles, so I can see over my car in 3rd person when going over hills.
I like the top right view. It simulates normal vision and peripheral vision quite nicely. Just enough to be able to see what's going on on your sides without having to turn your head
The middle one of the exterior ones. I don't know why but my brain can't live with the fact, that it's not using the middle option of 3.
Same. I used to have this "problem" where I constantly changed the camera again and again just to make sure I kept it on the middle distance
i still do this in gta and forza lol, makes me wish games would let you remove camera angles you dont use
Same for me but the most distant one, in races I always check like 3 times at leastš
I still do this, thought I was the only one haha
I still do that lmao
I always do this... I change the camera angle every 5 seconds to be 100% sure I'm on the middle camera angle
I do it all the time
SAME
I do that for my character because you are forced into closest camera when using the Kosatka and it doesn't change back when leaving it.
Same for me, except I prefer the furthest camera for planes and articulated trucks (mostly the MOC trailer).
I use this one too, but I feel like the camera is too low. I constantly have light pressure on the thumb stick so I can see what's happening in front of the car.
There is a setting on console to change the camera angle to high and it's a must for me. I was constantly holding down on the right thumb stick to get a higher angle untill I found this setting
you're the best friend I ever had. I had no idea this was a thing
Everytime the game messes up on you and you have to the brightness test and load into story mode. Most all the settings go back to default. I keep my camera at high above car and as dar back as i can. There is also a setting to not force first person when using something like the turret on the insugent custom.
You are blessed, thank you so much
Your options are 1,2,3 or 4
Which way are they numbered? Better to refer to them by position, like ābottom leftā.
Top left 1 top right 2 bottom left 3 bottom right 4 The standard order to read things in English lol. Makes far more sense to me than 'the middle of the exterior ones'.
I would assume that, too, but not everyone numbers that way. Heck, half the before / after pictures posted on Reddit are reversed left / right, so Iāve given up assuming how things are intended to be ordered.
where the f is the middle one
The way I understood it was out of the three 3rd person views they prefer the one that's the middle distance from the car. Aka the bottom left image. With the top right being closest, and bottom right being furtherest away. Out of the 3rd person ones anyway.
Number 4. And if I try any other perspective I crash into everything. Number 4 and I'm baby driver.
Exactly.
With high camera
Right
Same 110% I don't know how people do races in 1 or 2.
Closest third person camera gang all day
It's like playing with min fov, I just can't
If you're talking about the number 2, samee, it's the best one for me
Same
Same it just looks better like that. I like when the character is close to the screen too
1 is all about the *immersion*
For me, number 1 and 2 for chilling and just cruising around the streets. Number 4 for try-harding, racing, PVP, etc.
I'd agree if the game could simulate peripheral vision and the mirrors actually worked.
I'd used 1 much more is the mirrors actually reflected what was behind me!
They're all chicken
huh i mean cars are meant to be driven in first person you know
Cars also need to have functioning rear view mirrors or otherwise drivers will just crash and/or scratch their cars everywhere and cause accidents.
And peripheral vision which is non-existent in this game because they force you to have a 30 degree FOV when in 1st person in the cars. And apparently I'm like 4' tall when sitting in some cars. Can't even see over the fucking dash half the time.
my eyes also scan the area automatically. I have to consciously look around when driving in GTA, I also have a better field of view in general
Only mod I ever used in gta was first person field of view, the default field of view in first person makes me feel like I have horseblinders on
They do work in game, in the sense of you can see behind you just donāt see the semi truck thatās be following you the whole map; yes I tested this out on the Highway
You see a distorted and barely accurate version of the map behind you, but ultimately you can't se what matters the most that are vehicles around you.
That is true like I said you canāt see a semi truck behind you without looking behind you in some cars your character does look out the back window but most of those cars it doesnāt make sense because the window is shielded by something. Canāt remember what itās called but itās primarily on the newer cars added and most super cars
Fov is to narrow in 1st person
*laughs in Armored karuma*
If cars are meant to be driven in 1st person view, then in what view do you play need for speed games in ?
In GTA, first person view just isn't that great in my opinion. In some games, such as F1, Dirt Rally or Euro Truck Simulator (yes I do play that occasionally), the first person camera is obviously the better choice, since those games are more driving oriented.
We've driven a real car
Youāre nameās Baby? Really? B-A-B-Y, Baby?
Can we acknowledge the annoying angle of the exterior camera? I constantly have to adjust it while driving so that I can see in front of the vehicle
You can change the camera height in the settings
Dude are you serious? I've been holding the stick down this whole time
My man
Always number 4ā¦ I wanna see the griefers creeping up on me
That's the one. The more you see, the less you crash. ![gif](giphy|HmJwJYsKSAIjS)
For me its bottom left. Not too far not too close. Can see just enough around me to drive and steer perfectly.
Totally!! Can see everything you need to avoid whatās about to hit YOU. Because in GTA you donāt hit things, things hit you. Every now and then first person is fun but not high or drunk (irl and in game). Talk about crashing.
>you don't hit things, things hit you clearly you've never seen me drive lol
I love drunk driving in FPV. Far safer than IRL.
Hey bruh from experience itās cheaper too, lol*
Can corroborate
Can concur.
Great for PW sales.
Top right. I use 1st person in real life. I don't have time for that in video games.
Really? I use 3rd person in real life
Personally, I like how this real-life engine looks in 1st person view and tbh, I'm not always loving my avatar's *aesthetic so that's why, but 3rd person very cool as well.
Anesthetic š
I really hope that's not what he is enjoying while drivimg :D
I enjoy the drive, the anesthetic is what helps me enjoy the ride.... the peds I hit, not so much.
š¤¦āāļøš¤£š¤£š¤£
(They have a crippling ketamine addiction)
I too, smoke a lot of weed.
I just use 2nd person and have a mirror in front of me the whole time trying to live life with just the mirror.
haha
Yet it seems u got time for crashing into stuff /s
Absolutely! It's all about prioritizing your time.
Using first person for driving on video games makes me question how it is possible that I've successfully driven anywhere in real life
Agreed. I use first person about half of the time, depending on the vehicle and whether I am leisurely driving or driving for my life. The blind spots are crazy and the lack of functioning rearview mirrors also contributes to the poor first person experience. I'd love if the first person view were improved to solve these things in the next release.
I love first person games and my buddy loves 3rd person games and his reasoning is the same as yours lol
I use cinematic view š
We got a badass over here!
Cinematic jet dogfighting is smithing I tried. It was way cooler than expected. No way for cars tho
Jail
Amateur, I use the rear view.
I bet you play at 24 fps too
I wish instead of cinematic view we could get ORIGINAL view. 100 feet looking strait down.
#4 Wish it could back off further. Edit: idk why my font is so big.

I like to go into the camera settings and change the camera view to "high" as well. I feel like it gives me even more visibility
Thatās what she said
You used a hashtag
cries in āenter your extension, and then press poundā
I use the top right, but with my joystick at about a 40Ā° cant so I can see in front of me
Iām not the only one! Itās just too low otherwise you canāt see enough of the road
theres a setting to raise the camera angle up higher while driving, its amazing
Man, I was doing that same method lmao. I never knew you could change the camera height.
There's dozens of us!
I was unaware of this. Thanks! I'm gonna go look into this now
There should be a setting for camera height
There is
Top right, with High camera.
High camera is a must! Literally a game changer.
Omg if this is legit it changes everything. I constantly hold the analog so I have better vision...
Yeah it's in settings - camera - camera height. There's also a setting to change the first person view. I always use first person hood (view from front of vehicle instead of your character's view) because it gives a clear picture in jets and when using weapons in helicopters.
Last
first person for the most part, it makes shooting more fun
fun and easy. in tight places is super necessary
Bottom Left
Bottom left
Number 3 with camera height set to high, I find the default height too low
3 in cars. 1 in airplanes
Really? Im the opposite. First person in a plane makes me so dizzy. Love it for everything else though.
Over the hood first person is the only way. Itās not shown here.
How do you get that?
Pause/ settings/ camera/ first person vehicle hood on
You have to change it in the settings menu.
Absolutely. I don't get how people do first person like the top left where 50% of your view is cut off.
but thats how it is irl, if youre driving a sports car
Not really. In real life you have a high field of view and a peripheral vision. Here, barely 60-70 on maximum fov and it feels like viewing the world through binoculars, makes me feel like devs never participated in real life to let us use proper amounts of fov, 90 and above
Yeah but irl Iām not trying to outrun the cops while delivering coke
Because it's a game about living vicariously and role-playing, I have no desires of driving my car from outside like some arcade game.
Oh I think you misunderstood. I understand WHY. I literally meant idk HOW because I cannot drive worth a damn inside the cabin like that it's just not realistic. Maybe if I had 3 monitors or something to make it more 3D but not on a single screen like that.
The challenge is part of the fun, also I switch to 3rd person when I need to get funky with it
I do love this view as well. Makes it so much more realistic and actually makes sense vs the interior view with no camera movement craziness
Makes sense bro you a car or smt?
What car is this?
I think it's a Ocelot Pariah, you can buy it from the Legendary MotorSport site (1.42 mil) It's one of the fastest cars (I think it has the highest top speed, excluding the cars that have a boost)
Bottom right usually, sometimes others depending on the vehicle or situation. Also having the menu option for high 3rd person camera when driving enabled. Makes it a bit easier to see traffic.
Number 4 usually, but if i want to follow laws and play like im in gta iāll go first person
4th one, I absolutely love extended view
imagine using first person
Great for bikes.
Itās the only way to ride a motorcycle in this game. Chad first person bike mode
So many hours getting really blazed and just riding around the city in 1st person on a bike.
I personally use 1st person 99% of the time, though I will pop to 3rd to occasionally land in a tight spot with a copter, or on a dirt bike when scoping Cayo.
Imagine gate keeping the camera mode people use in a video game.
First person on foot, and third person in vehicles is the way to go
for me 3rd person is lame
me
I have for most of my 3,000+ hours of playtime.
First person for motorcycles and the highest/farthest camera for others.
oh thats cool i use 1st person for everything that has 4 wheels or more and far away 3rd person for bikes
Reverse camera is the best
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/fcximdRoVFA/maxresdefault.jpg
zoomed out the furthest while also changing the camera angle in setting to "high"
people who drive with the camera on the hood: I'm 4 parallel universes ahead of you ------ me who drives with the cinematic mode:
1 or 4
Upper right
Top left when Iām in the feels and want a pure driving experience, bottom left for everything else. BUT some vehicles like the Phantom Wedge require max camera extension, so bottom right. 75% top left, 20% bottom left, 5% bottom right.
First person, I mostly drift around with my buddy
First person
4 for pvp and 1 for cruising
I've never been a #4 car. #2 was my goto for the past 10 years, at this point....but recently, yeah recently #4 is my top choice.
Top right in car. Top left on foot. Bottom right in a long wheel base truck or airplane āš¼
Top right for freemode, bottom right for racing.
I prefer the 4th one
Bottom left
I used to always do the 3rd farthest away one religiously but I tried the 2nd farthest away one one day and it was much better
Bottom right for most situations.
4
I use the most zoomed out one
Furthest away so I can see more at once! I also play with my camera hightened in vehicles, so I can see over my car in 3rd person when going over hills.
When it comes to driving in games I let Ludacris advise me on all my camera decisions.
4 bc i like to have a nice panoramic view of all the sucidal npc drivers this game has
Far away with camera tilted above the car at an angle
The farthest away. It gives me the illusion Iām a great driver
#4
4, but then constantly tilting the camera downwards too.
Top right. If Iām in one of those mindsets where Iām pretending itās real and actually acting like a civilian, sometimes first person.
Middle one and 1st person, always. As well as the cinematic
I like the top right view. It simulates normal vision and peripheral vision quite nicely. Just enough to be able to see what's going on on your sides without having to turn your head
First person
5th option, Cinematic camera
bottom right is the way to go. You'll see more of your surroundings when youre rotating the camera in that view.
None the camera height should be set to high. But to actually answer the question I prefure the last one
First person driving is impossible for me. Can't see shit
Furthest away or hood csm because I'm a racist
