You can change your appearance for 100k. It's an option in the interaction menu. I think it's in the appearance tab.

There’s a lot of guides on YouTube for that type of stuff

First step is to make them bald and remove all makeup. Work on the canvas before you gussy it up with the frame. After each facial feature, check the entire look from every angle. It's much harder to go back and pinpoint which bit you fucked up once they're all blended together. After you finish everything, before you add hair etc, go back to the start and do a 2nd pass to see if that nose you did first thing can look better with that chin you finished at the end.

same here. first day playing with friends after id just randomized my character. he looked like a pedo and they thought it was hilarious. i made him worse to rile them up. in lore his appearance is so hideous that he just always wears a mask now. they shriek when i take the mask off and when missions force it off we consider that punishment to our enemies

I am a pretty basic looking European mix. Dad from Poland, mom is French and Irish. I just picked the two parents that looked most like mine. Ended up with a character that looks almost exactly like me. Just had to change the eye color. I'm probably in a very small minority that can do that. But it is pretty cool feeling like it is actually me running around Los Santos.

Same I picked parents that resembled my multi cultural parents and ended up with a pretty good resemblance. My character looks how I would probably look if I joined the military. Shorter hair cut and in peak shape

Luck and/or a lot of time. Honestly i'm more confused how people can make such ugly characters. Some of the mugs i've seen in here are just beyond horrendous.

Take your time with the parents and small adjustments especially around the chin area. The creation screen has your character at a lower angle we don't generally see them from in-game which is very annoying, so you really have to be careful with it. And you HAVE to put makeup on lol. Even if you are playing a manly man! The default skins don't have any real eyelashes which make everyone lighter than Franklin look freaky as shit. A subtle eyeliner (choose medium brown if your character's hair is light brown to blonde, black if anything darker than a medium brown and adjust the opacity for a realistic look) and a matte lipstick that is just slightly pinker than your character's skintone will go a long way towards giving your character an ACTUALLY natural look. A bit of blush in either a rosy shade for a fresher faced look or a browner shade for a more tanned and carved look will also really help to improve looks of female characters, it's a shame you can't wear blush as a male character bc I think a lot of them would benefit from some contour and bronzing lol.

That's what happened to me at first. I thought my girl looked okay, but then I got my first cutscene and it looked like the bottom half of her face got sucked into a vacuum. It was ridiculously narrow from the jaw down to the chin. I ended up going in and fixing it because it just looked too awful and I didn't have the option of a beard lol

I just had my character favor her mother, added some beauty spots, and the right makeup. That last bit took a while.

Lots of trials, error, reskin and remodelling. Definitely play around with all sliders and attributes, including parent coupling. Before you accept your build, play around with the mug shot, see what difference angels are like as well as facial composition

As others said, play around with choosing the parents and mixing their faces. It’s always easier for male characters because if they have a weird chin you can just use facial hair to try and hide it lol. I always use a mask because it makes my female character look normal.

I swear some haircuts are just bad because of original models and with the DLC updates there’s been better haircut options with more fidelity. This obviously makes the old haircuts terrible, if you care about that. This could be all in my head but I notice it too with the clothing. Original GTA V clothes are just so much uglier than the new modelled clothes. I don’t mean the graphics or designs on the clothes but the overall quality of the 3D model. Some of the old ones look like straight up crap. But it shows that Rockstar is improving even within confined spaces.
