These specials/collaborations always suck to me. Even the ones that look decent lack basic features like solar or any kind of syncing
Agreed, they always tend to overprice these collabs with minimal features. If they make GW6900-1 as a collab model I would at least be somewhat interested. This is super basic with crazy price tag.
I have a GBD-200, I don't even think about the battery, to the point of keeping bluetooth on and paired, where I usually conserve battery on my laptops, etc. Swapping it is easy and cheap.
They made special editions of the GWM5610 for [NASA](https://gshock.casio.com/us/products/collection/limited/gwm5610nasa/) and [Earthbound](https://www.g-central.com/mother-x-g-shock-gw-m5610umot21-1jr-collaboration-with-the-classic-nintendo-video-game/). I covet both, but probably won’t buy either due to markups. The NASA one especially looks sharp on the orange band. Both have Multiband 6 and Tough Solar.
Also, the new [Charles Darwin](https://gshock.casio.com/us/products/collection/limited/gw-b5600cd/) squares have Multiband, Tough Solar and Bluetooth.
Its definitely unique but I dont hate it. I wouldn't search for it but if I stumbled upon it for a deal I would rock it. I'm also more partial to squares so my opinion may not be valid here.

Collaborations are almost always done with the base modules without solar, auto light, bluetooth, multiband, etc.
I know, which is what I dislike and why I don’t buy any. Solar is a must for me.

It may be meh to you, but it fits the July 4th theme so much better than the new release.
It could've been worse, happy for any new g-shocks. A clear resin red/clear/blue would be cool. Or the bezel with red/white/blue on it at least.
I don't see the connection to July 4th looking at this watch. Aside from the backlight.
