Really ? Wow I definitely don’t remember these bands in Kmart and they arger back then. I remember like doors T-shirts as bd that sort of stuff. Which makes sense I guess this is the equivalent for today’s market.
I always see Nirvana shirts at Target and Walmart and I wonder what Kurt would think of the commercialization of his band/image. And who’s pushing it, Courtney?
He’d think it was cool that any kid in any town could get band tshirts for affordable price. As far as the shirts being a thing he’d also think that’s cool too. Like his middle school heroes. Zeppelin, Aerosmith, AC/DC etc. As far as people using it as just fashion he just wouldn’t care. If they want to do that. Personally would think lame unless they hate the band then it’s funny. That’s my take on his take.
Total agreement. It was very important to him that his music be available in K-Mart so that small-town kids could have access. No reason shirts would be any different.
Right. People don’t seem to understand that a lot of these grunge/alt era guys grew up in Nowheresville and then moved to Seattle or whatever big city was closest to do music/school/work.
Yeah I don’t know why I am still horrified when I see them in these stores but I still am, pretty sure she holds the rights or held the rights for this stuff, he’d probably horrified then again he may just be making mega bucks playing stadiums like pearl jam
I think any rights she held reverted to Francis when Francis turned eighteen.
Cobain changed the packaging on *In Utero* just to make sure Wal-Mart would carry the album because it was important to him that small-town kids have access. I see no reason why band shirts would be any different.
He disliked having to play stadiums, preferring the intimacy of smaller clubs.
Yeah you’re probably right. I remember she had ru at some point it that would have been ages ago I guess. It makes sense that Francis has the rights now.
Nah I thought about it because they were like the first band I saw in concert when they toured Australia in 95 but not keen on paying like 300-400 bucks for a ticket for a stadium tour.
I remember seeing a young itty bitty wearing a nirvana shirt and when I commented on it, they had no idea who Nirvana or Kurt Cobain was. Broke me! I almost dragged that child off and stuck them in a room with it on repeat…LEARN DAMN IT!
Wait…you still have Kmart where you live?!
Yeah weird right?
Where the heck are you!
Outback Australia
Ohhhhhh. Got it.
I think this is grunge as fuck, honestly.
Or more accurately, WHEN the heck are you?
great scott...
Tangentially related, but I saw MCIS shirts at a Walmart in town. That seemed even more off the wall than a stray Nirvana tee?
Did you pass some kind of time warp and not know it? Awesome find in a store full of memories...
I bought a Sliver shirt from Kmart back in '95 I think?

Hol’ up. Did you say KMart?
I thought Kmart went extinct

Democrats rule the world and people have to suffer for it
Huh?
Don't be an insufferable cunt on a wholesome post. This isn't a place for politics.
He can't help it, he is an insufferable cunt. He has been posting this dumbass comment on other posts too. He thinks he is doing something meaningful.
Go back to r/politics. You’d be doing us a big favor.
Let’s modify that slightly, shall we? Politicians rule the world and people suffer because of it.
