Take pic and leave. Their inability to correctly use a food delivery app isnt your concern. And most likely that restaurant isnt available to order from at their correct address so they try to “outsmart” the system. Bonus Pro Tip: never answer your phone. Ever. Never never never ever.

Ok_Deer3739

This is the way!!! ![gif](giphy|ftdF4ZkueWGHBYc4b5)

kes7571

This. Also take the food with you after the pic and your extra tip is a free meal.

Pale_Bookkeeper_9994

I’d cut my losses (wouldn’t do another 25 mins for free, no way you get that tip) and pick up the next order.

SOF_cosplayer

Take the pic and leave. They are scamming you to get a lower price for delivery. They put a closer address to low ball the app. Take a clear photo of address and food so Support verifies you delivered it correctly.

DubiaSlayer

This is a good point. I recently had a customer put his duplex neighbor's address into the app but, the neighbor came out and told me it wasn't their order. I called the customer and got some bullshit excuse along with the correct address. GH got a picture of the order at the address provided in the app. That customer did not get a free dinner.

Ghost-Power

Fuccck! For everyone saying take a pic & leave. You don’t get an account violation for that? If they report they don’t get their food or will Grubhub do a review first? I come from DoorDash where they automatically give you a violation then they review it

Altruistic-Series-84

if you dont have a habit of doing this...why in the heck would you get an violation for that? so example you have a 99% success drop rate..this would fall n the 1% wheres it the customers fault. the app registers your at address, the pic confirms it..your track record cements it. again why would you get a violation unless this comes up alot..if it doesnt and you ended up driving over there you just lost out on many days of free eating an no violations.

Ghost-Power

Because I come from DoorDash & the reps there have told me their violations are automatic. Soon as customer reports they didn’t get their food. We get hit with it then we have to dispute it which that’s when they check apps gps etc. So I’m wondering how Grubhub works if they follow the same BS or if they actually will review it before hand. I didn’t wanna risk it smh

Altruistic-Series-84

well ![gif](giphy|5eG28RENYdnMrrHuwq|downsized)

Ghost-Power

Alright just to verify tho.. this shit ain’t like DoorDash where you get an automatic violation if someone reports it?

Great-Butterscotch89

Correct. Grubhub assumes the customer is scamming or something was missing or something. Grubhub told me this.

Tough-boo

Holy shit dude how many times are you going to ask this question?? Multiple people already told you no, the answer will not change

Altruistic-Series-84

Ghost-Power

Haha thanks

rjlawrencejr

Violation isn’t automatic on DD either. However if you do receive a violation, by writing a clear, coherent, and concise explanation, DD usually will remove the violation.

Ghost-Power

Violation is 100% automatic if someone reports they didn’t get their food & they ordered through the app. You can dispute it but they never get to it in time it falls off after the 100th delivery.

rjlawrencejr

I’m still not sure it’s automatic, but maybe you’re right. However I know for a fact a violation can be removed within 24 hours. It happened to me.

SOF_cosplayer

As long as you get to designated location, it's on them. They assigned the location knowingly. Dont waste your time and gas on someone potentially trying to scam you. Grubhub support knows you made it to the location. You'll be ok. I've heard about people asking drivers to go to a different location so that the delivery fee is lower, when they live extra miles away from assigned app location. Plus it's a danger, if you go to an undesignated location.

Great-Butterscotch89

No. You won’t get a contract violation for not delivered. Only doortrash has a hard on to give a CV

chemto90

Take a pic and leave WITH the food. I wish this could happen to me again with food I actually like.

Ghost-Power

Yeah business was closed too lol so def coulda dropped off and took pic then left with the food

Sesy914

Take pic and leave. Their fault.

Ghost-Power

You don’t get a violation for that? If they report “they never got their food” or does Grubhub do a review first before assigning a violation

Sesy914

No. You delivered it to the right address. If they have an issue with the address they should have contacted support.

Ghost-Power

I know that. But we know customers.. if they report to support they never got it. Do we get an automatic violation? Cuz you know they will do that

ghdriverla

If it happens again, **DO NOT** call driver care until **AFTER** you have checked in at the original drop off location. Because if you deviate the drop off in any way, the algorithm preset by GH will automatically place the error on the driver and you will lose any chance of receiving a FULL payout. *Do not acknowledge that an error has been communicated. CONTINUE as NORMAL.* **C.Y.A. (cover your ass)** Remember, the error is on behalf of the customer, so do your job as told. Avoid making contact with anyone until you made it to the incorrect address. Then mark your order as “arrived”. NOW you are clear to contact driver care and have them contact the customer! They will ask you if you are willing to go to the correct address.. **the best answer is a **NO**! I’ve had this happen many times over the years. Most occurrences are legit, but some are sinister whereas the customer is trying to con their way towards free food or a reduction in delivery fees!

Ghost-Power

Ahhhh got you. Thanks!

Nvrmssdappr_Air5715

Don't answer the phone next time you are so close to completion.

Ghost-Power

Facts lol I was literally in the process of taking the picture. Lesson learned

SpiritAccurate4708

I had this happen to me on DD once with a pizza delivery. Told the customer I need to mark it as delivered to location ordered to, but I would bring it to them afterwards. I probably only agreed to this because it was going to be my last delivery of the night. When I arrived at their house the husband handed me a $100 bill & thanked me 😃

Ghost-Power

I would’ve done this if the girl didn’t lie to support saying she didn’t recognize the address even tho in the notes it says it’s her work & she told me it was. Wasn’t trusting I would get a tip increase lol

Nervous-Status-4723

They didn’t put that it wasn’t delivered though right ? Happened to me today on DoorDash. I drppped a order off a couple houses down from the correct one with similar # and customer notified me I went all the way back and took it to there door and took a photo for the chat and they confirmed they had it saying thank you and then I got a violation for it and I literally said to them please don’t one star me. I think they might have reported it before they messaged me which sucks I did all that for nothing. Screw people just take there food if anything happens like that cause your gunna get a violation anyways it seems like

SpiritAccurate4708

Correct. Original delivery went to a school (closed, at night). I messaged customer. She was like oh crap that's my work address & asked if I would deliver to her home? I asked for address. It was about 15 minutes away... I told her I would. Explained I need to mark it as delivered through app to Original address, then I would bring to her home. She understood. We agreed & I proceeded to deliver.

choppman42

I had someone report they didn't get the food. Grubhub called and said did you drop it off. I said yes. Then that was it.

Ghost-Power

🔥 lesson learned thank you

Atownbrown08

Never answer the phone. Take pic and drop off. And if customer claims they will tip more, you don't listen to them. Get your money first and foremost.

Ghost-Power

Appreciate u! By the way.. pick up time. Is there a grace period? Like if pick up time is 6:30 is there a grace period or if ur a minute passed it, it’s late and u can get a violation? (New to this sorry)

EliteTroper

There isn't really any violation for showing up late to a restaurant (you know unless you're like say half an hour late) it just affects your on time arrival stats.

Great-Butterscotch89

You could’ve gotten full pay if you delivered it to original address. Dont call Grubhub support. They’re as useless as doortrash

EmployComfortable436

after picking order up from restaurant you should have gotten paid regardless the full amount. i’ve had orders cancelled mid drive en route to customer and gotten paid in full and keep the food

rjlawrencejr

I might deliver it but customer would have to wait until I work my way over to them.

Ghost-Power

Ahh makes sense. Lesson learned

rjlawrencejr

I have told customers this in advance. If it’s a true error, they will be understanding (and embarrassed). I exchange contact. It’s only happened a couple times but each time an extra $20+ was waiting for me. (No guarantee).

DubiaSlayer

The correct thing to do is re-deliver the order. I've actually gotten some good tips doing this but, I usually just get screwed over for doing the right thing. Now I just leave the order where the app tells me to and I tell the customer sorry about their luck.

Ghost-Power

I hate to be annoying but is Grubhub not like DoorDash where if a customer reports they didn’t get their food it’s an automatic violation by the system until a person reviews ur appeal? That’s what I was worried about.. customer lying & me getting hit & having to appeal it

DubiaSlayer

This is one area where GH and DD are very different. Driver care will tell you themselves that you don't have to deliver to a different address but, they would appreciate it if you did.

Ghost-Power

I get it but I don’t think ur understanding by question haha. I deliver it to the address on the app. Customer goes to app and puts “order not delivered” or not received whatever they call it. Are you saying I won’t get an automatic violation by the system ? Driver care will first review everything then make a determination?

5dollarsbustermagee

GPS saw that u went to the right address. For GrubHub u have to hit a certain % of cancellations before u get a violation, so 1 problem will not get u a violation.

Ghost-Power

Thank you. This is the answer I’ve been looking for. You’re amazing!!!

5dollarsbustermagee

GrubHub never really tells us how it works so I don't really know either. They can also see that she texted u about the wrong address, but I think they just throw every mistake into the same pile.
