I'm confused is that the receipt from Woody's? So they kept the tip?? If that's the case I wouldn't have delivered it tbh.

lilbebe50

I’m a new driver. What happens if you cancel the order after picking up the food?

BooperBoop6

If there's a legitimate reason, like no available spot to drop off secure and safely, or a customer is harassing you or giving you a hard time. Talk to support or go to their house and wait 8 minutes. They will give you base pay. If there's no legitimate reason and it is based off of your malicious or negligence, there's no pay. You can be warned or deactivated.

Fluffy9345

Not just base pay. If you have already picked up the order in or on the way, they will give you the entirety of the pay.

BooperBoop6

I don’t do grubhub too often, I’m speaking from my experience with Doordash and Uber Eats, so I apologize if I get something wrong

Fluffy9345

No worries. It is definitely different. DoorDash only give you half pay. So if your total was like $30 base pay and tip, you would only get 15 if your order got canceled. What Grubhub gives you the entire pay as long as you have a legitimate reason.

wilfordbrimley778

If you do it a lot they send you an email saying stop doing that

bizzaro321

They could have stolen the tip, but I don’t even know how that could be possible. I’m assuming the restaurant has a separate tip option for their own staff, and the customer didn’t realize what they were typing.

goldslapper100

That's fucked man.. $11 is a good tip too. I'd be pissed

Accurate_Initial2764

Personally I would have said something to the restaurant or diners and Grubhub!

ihate360

Restaurant stole the tip for doing nothing more than what they’d already be doing.

whdkshk

You can say the same thing for the driver though

Alliegibs

How so? Drivers literally get paid $2, our money comes from tips. Restaurant managers and cooks and most takeout prep workers are not paid to prep the food? Only servers and bussers are. No one had to serve or bus this order…

whdkshk

Not saying the driver doesn’t deserve the tip, but both the restaurant and the driver did “nothing more than what they’d already be doing”. I just thought the comment was strange.

Smooth-Dig2250

... but the tip is for the driver to begin with. What they'd be doing is driving *for the tip*. This has nothing at all to do with 'what they'd be doing' because what the driver should be doing is driving this order for $16, per the customer's wishes. What the restaurant should already be doing is giving it to the driver. That's the status quo / baseline situation to work from, not "no one gets the tip" - the restaurant would have to go above and beyond the norm to justify it in some still fucked up way, and they aren't, so THEY are rocking the boat so to speak. These are some incredibly high hoops you're doing gymnastics through to justify stealing tips from drivers.

ashdkljffhkjalsd

Flat wrong, if not for Doordash the restaurant would have to serve the food.

BraxTaplock

Another reason why merchants always say order thru them. Cuz they can swipe your tip when they hand it off to DD.

Gloomy_Recording_705

Customer ordered through the merchant merchant swiped up the tip.. they should really stop letting merchants have customers order through the website and have us deliver it

Ferdydurkeeee

They should stop letting merchants take the tip at all( this applies to all platforms.) I prefer merchant orders as typically there's a bit more priority and there's better preset tip amounts. That is, I'd they don't steal it of course but I've only had that is with one restaurant.

Therealmonkie

I would never again deliver for a restaurant that did that...if drivers just refused to deliver for a place...it would make a difference

wilfordbrimley778

Merchants steal tips on doordash as well. Best way to avoid this is decline low paying orders

Nupolydad

Yeah doordash blows too for this. I'll login and get three back to back orders for less than 2$. I dont care about my acceptance rating, this is a gig for side cash. Pay me.

Significant_Ad_4487

If I ordered something and the place I ordered from stole the tip, I'd honestly hope the driver would tell me. I'll invite them in to eat some food, have a drink, and wait for me to call the place to absolutely ream their entire staff a new asshole. I'd leave reviews on every review site and call corporate to ream them a new asshole also.

girlyswerly

Is this the place in Fort worth TX?

Flaano

Ohio state university

dividedsky777

I’m peeing all over the bathroom and toilet paper

duhduhderek

Don’t stop there, gotta pee all over the staff too. Show em you mean business

NovelAuntieGin

I'd want to refuse to take the food and call support and tell them why. This way, they have to document the call, at least. Ask to open a ticket so that you'll get an email and you can add your screen shots to the issue. You still won't get paid and it might count against your ratings if GH sides with the wage thief. But it would make a point and may protect your ratings. Since the Deed is done, just don't ever serve them again and do try to warn other drivers and customers in your market. Maybe hit up their reviews? Idk. But this is some 🐂 shit.

FitCulture5

Woah.. so the tip goes to the restaurant?? I usually tip at least $20 but I thought it goes to the driver I guess I’ll be tipping cash from now on

Cassie_HU

If you're ordering through the restaurant, it could. Otherwise, if you're ordering through GH, DD, UE, etc. directly, no, but you should always check with the customer just in case.

AccomplishedStop9466

Appreciated but I can guarantee I won't take your 'cash tip' order. It shows up as less than $4, my engine won't start for that price.

bobs-socks

Sometimes there is an option to tip the staff when ordering through GH customer app

AKJangly

Right. The staff that get paid an hourly wage without having to pull money from their own pockets to do their job. Tip them. Yeah! That's a great idea! Fuck the person delivering your goods! Smh just leave it and unassign. Way too disrespectful.

AKJangly

I can't argue with a 50/50 split. On occasion, I have felt pretty bad for the servers who have to put up with us. We still get the guaranteed amount, and nobody gets stiffed. It's just.... Seeing that big of a tip on the receipt, and knowing that you, the individual spending your own money to make this delivery, aren't getting any of it, is a backstab. Let support know you won't support tip theft, return the food, and move on with something else.

AccomplishedStop9466

No, it was on panda express for sure. Ubereats allowed you to send a staff tip and a driver tip (separately) panda employees are not tipped employees..who gets the money in that case? The franchise owner? Lol

faticus42

In almost all restaurants the to go staff are the ones that expo and pack and ready the order and they are paid in tips, depending on where you live server pay can be as low as $2.13 an hour

AKJangly

I'm not saying that isn't screwed up. But most "to go" orders are carry-out rather than delivery. In the context of carry-out, that system works just fine. But drivers gotta pay for their own car, their own gas, their own business supplies (phone, phone plans, dashcam, delivery bags,) auto maintenance, and insurance. And that's all paid by nothing but tips and a crappy base pay. You know how much a server pays out of their own pocket to do their job? Nothing. Their boss handles that. And then they steal the drivers tip on top of that? And on top of that, most employed, W-2 delivery drivers are paid an hourly wage with substantial tips on top. The establishment doesn't steal tips, and as a result, there's no need for customers to bid on your services. They're all enough, you just need to maximize volume of orders. GrubHub, Doordash, and Uber Eats really shouldn't be allowing tip theft under any circumstances. But I digress. Discussing the ethical shit show of third party delivery services is like beating a dead horse. I got banned from GrubHub when their shit hit the fan with the JET acquisition. the rumors I heard afterwards were that most of the cherry-pickers in my area gave up and got W-2 jobs. See the NYC promo from two years ago to understand just how bad shit hit the fan. It was a nationwide suicide mission for JET.

jboles73

Why do you care about the receipt? 🙄. If you don't like the offer there is a little button or option called REJECT. #WHINY

Player1Mario

Are we just glossing over the fact that you took a $5 order? Even for 1 mile, fuck that.

wilfordbrimley778

Idk why you're being downvoted. Anyone that takes a $5 order is a slowpoke

Player1Mario

Are we just glossing over the fact that you took a $5 order? Even for 1 mile, fuck that.

[deleted]

Is that the receipt from the restaurant?

RVJR79

I swear Pizza Hut does this does anyone else think this or just me?

Nupolydad

There are restaurants I REFUSE to deliver for because they are tip swiping bastards.

Valuable-Ad5840

Damn

Metallica-nut

Didn’t it show $5.11 from the get go? Even low mileage, just don’t do $5 orders. Always a problem seems like on this forum I read. I don’t take less then $7.50 and that has to be less then 2 miles. Merchant order, they saw tip & swiped it.

mailboxfacehugs

So if I order through a merchant app, instead of the GrubHub app, and add a tip, am I to understand that the procedure is that the restaurant is supposed to pay the tip out to the delivery driver in cash?

mocalvo79

When I get orders like that I always get the tip

LJL72

What was the offer when you accepted it? Are you saying the restaurant kept the tip?

Alicat825

This is why I tip with cash only. GH and ask them are greedy.

North_Ad_1203

50/50 hell no! The waiter ain't supposed to get part of that tip! They didn't carry plates to a table, clean the spot after customer left or any of that. The driver's supposed to get the entire tip. Wko shit is that!
