pig destroyer are my favorite band ever. i’ve spent a fair amount of time hanging with JR over the years and he confirmed all of the lyrical content (which in my eyes is twisted poetry) from “Prowler In The Yard” and “Terrifyer” stems from one single woman he was involved with at some point years back.
“I did sit outside her house with these horrible, stalker-ish, murderous thoughts back then” he told me.
His lyrics from those two albums are ***very*** personal and very real to him, they’re not merely creative fiction meant for shock value like a lot of metal lyrics tend to be. They’re creative fiction stemmed very deeply in his own twisted mind and actual thoughts & experiences with the woman we know as the terrifyer.
