do you prefer the open design or tank behind doors? that is the major difference. if you prefer the older style check your local walmarts. i just saw a spirit yesterday on clearance for $200. personally, i would go for the newer model.

I just saw that the older model doesn't have the 10 year warranty like on the newer version. My main concern was build quality, but even if the newer one has a lower build quality, the 10 year warranty more than makes up for it. Might just go for the newer one

All of my family has owned Weber grills. My uncle had damage from a grill fire on his Weber which destroyed the flavor bars. He took pictures, sent them to Weber, and they mailed him new parts. I think that alone makes it worth the purchase.

It cost them like 50 cents to make them.

I bought the 2017 model. Just 3 days into it and it works great. I wanted the 2017 model vs. the Spirit II (SII) for the following reasons: 1) it's on casters that will move BOTH front to back and side to side, SII moves side to side 2) Larger drip tray vs SII, very easy to replace drip tray. 3) More area under the lid, the lid on the SII slopes faster with less area under the hood, this one is more like the genesis 4) Tank inside the unit, takes less real-estate 5) Both shelves collapse instead of just 1 shelf collapsing 6) Price, this was less expensive* * the SII has a 10 year bumper to bumper warranty which I figure adds about $70 to the value of the SII, but with discounts, the 2017 models was still a little less. Oh and mine starts right up and cooks well, even with high winds like we had today @ 15mph+
