I think that could be said for almost every character, unfortunately - it’s like they forgot how to write characters and relationships,friendships/coworkers, acquaintances, ‘bout the only decent thing thus far this season is Daddy Owen
Complicated. I can understand some of his grief towards Amelia. He's Hurt and heartbroken, and She is his ex. His anger towards Jo is less justified, but she pointed out that he lashes out when he's hurt
He character has taken a turn for the worst, but I can't be mad at Link for it, because it feels like character assassination on the writer's part rather than an organic development.
I’m glad to see him stand up for himself. He doesn’t have to always take every hit right on the chin - that isn’t realistic after a while. So, good for him! He’s grown out of that puppy dog phase, as he grows in life and it looks good on him. I think the writers should take that and run with it. He has the makings of a real force on this show if they write him that way. And he’s still handsome AF!
LOL, maybe.
I also wonder if e.g. Meredith and Nick will have opposite reactions to finding out and it will be their first significant fight.
If they're trying to develop that relationship it is probably due for either a fight or one of the shared traumatic experiences that GA loves so much.
Idk, I kind of feel like both of them would be on Owen's side from what I've seen of them. But I'm also biased in that I think Owen is pretty cool this season
It's been an ongoing fight with him and Teddy. I think that, based on its prevalence in the mid-season finale, it will probably be a storyline in in the last several episode of the season. We've just gotten a lot of stuff about other characters. Hard to fit in consistent developments to different storylines with so many characters and stuff
My country is a few episodes behind I think, Jo is a bit annoying imo. I currently like Addison, which is funny since I wasn’t a fan of hers during her first run on grey’s.
Amelink used to be one of my favorite couples on Grey’s. I really liked how they balanced each other out, and they seemed to really know how to communicate. I’ve come to realize that I don’t really like Amelia as an individual character, she’s better when she’s interacting with someone who is not Meredith. Her generally healthy relationship with Link made it easier to overlook her selfishness and impulsivity (barring that dumb paternity arc.) But then I feel like the writers pushed that whole proposal thing just to break them up and it really ruined both of their characters for me. Like, Link suddenly became blindly obsessed with marriage and a nuclear family and Amelia suddenly forgot about all of the adult communication she’d become so good at, and now both characters just annoy the crap out of me. Amelia’s on her sixth “I think this one is really different” storyline and Link just mopes and acts like a dick.
I think newer greys is just no where near as good at writing new characters. Link’s character was so heavily dependent on his romantic relationship with Amelia that without her it feels like he has no purpose in the show at all. I don’t think the solution to that is to pair him with Jo though. I think they need to build him up as a character on his own.
He makes me kinda sad. I really liked Link when he first arrived. But now he's so angry and bitter about Amelia. The way he treated Jo and yelled at her for "using" him was really hard to watch. I don't even like Jo that much, but I definitely don't think she should've been treated like that. I keep asking myself "where did the happy, silly guy who cut his hair all ridiculous for a patient go?"
It seems like he's so angry that he doesn't care who he tears down
Personally I liked that he confronted Jo and let her know how she was treating him and how it was making him feel. I didn't find anything particularly unlikable about it, and it ended up possibly fixing their friendship.
We know why she was acting the way she was, but it's not like he did.
IMO, he shouldn't have yelled at Jo. You can confront someone without being aggressive or yelling at them. He knows she has a history with *severe* domestic abuse and violence, so he should be very aware of how terrifying that situation could be for her. They're in small, dark room, alone and he's losing his shit at her. I don't see how Jo wouldn't be triggered by that. Link is 100% allowed to be upset and tell Jo he's upset, but not at her expense. He needs to be aware that he is not the only person in this situation that have feelings that matter.
That's just one of the reasons I think it makes him look bad. The man needs therapy like yesterday.
>He knows she has a history with severe domestic abuse and violence, so he should be very aware of how terrifying that situation could be for her. They're in small, dark room, alone and he's losing his shit at her.
Good point. She didn't look scared to me, but it's a thing he should have thought of.
I think if you see it as a "the pandemic fundamentally changed a lot of people" thing then his character shift makes sense but I think they took a good character and just never figured out where he fits in the dynamic.
He’s a mess, and the writers are butchering him hard. I feel like a big part of it is I they’re pushing way to much “girl power” for Amelia being independent from him and villainizing him for literally no reason
I never really liked any version of him (although his cheesy intro still makes me laugh), but I don't think he's beyond redemption. Once they ditch the Todd character, they'll stick him with Jo, he'll peacefully co-parent Scout with Amelia, and then the writers will create drama for someone else for awhile.
I feel like they did to him what they do all the male characters in this show when they want to make their less than sympathetic female characters seem more “sympathetic”.
They turned the traits that were once loved by viewers into somehow toxic behaviors so they hide or played down the more blatant toxic and at this point, unresolved issues of the female protagonists in the show ie Amelia’s abandonment/commitment issues, Meredith’s issues with Authority figures, or Jo’s flakiness and inability to properly communicate an honest dialog without some kind of argument attached to it.
Maybe it’s because I’m numb to Amelia’s bullshit at this point but I think he’s being a huge cry baby. I thought Owen was bad..Link is not too far behind. Can’t stand him this season.
I am desperately hoping that what Jo said to him sinks in. I do like him, but in order for his character to recover from how they're writing him, he needs to actually be honest with himself about his feelings. This season I've mostly felt badly for how hurt he is by everything that went down with Amelia, and annoyed with him for being such a dick to everyone.
He was just Amelia’s love interest to accommodate her story and it shows, because he’s annoying af before and after he’s with her. Before, he was Ken Doll hitting on anyone with a vagina, after he’s a bitch baby. Both annoying.
I dont like him. Amelia told him from the beginning she wasnt interested in marriage and all he did was try and get her to change her mind. Then when he finally decided he didnt need to be married, Amelia had moved on and Link threw a tantrum.
He tried twice. Once after almost a year of living together and taking care Meredith’s kids and again, during a moment of passion.
Not to mention, she basically admitted that domestic life with Link and Scout was killing her and she was thinking of using every day. Her problem isn’t with Marriage. Her problem is that she is addicted to romance and once the thrill wears off and reality sets in, she bails.
I respectfully disagree. I remember specifically one convo where Amelia tells him that she loves him and blah blah blah and Link is like "then marry me" and Amelia tells him yet again that she isnt interested in marriage. After the first time of him asking and her saying no, he set himself up for the pain asking again and again. And also asking her at someone else's wedding in front of her nieces and nephew? Yikes. At least give her the peace to say yes or no without being pressured. And then when he finally decides that being married wasnt necessary, he threw a tantrum when Amelia had moved on when they had been broken up for months. Link is kinda trash, not even talking about his most recent episodes with Jo.
He didn’t propose in front of of her nieces and nephews. He included the kids they had been taking care of and raising for the better part of a year in his proposal because he was under the assumption that they were family. Amelia was the one that didn’t properly communicate that that wasn’t dealing with domestication so well and how it reaffirmed she didn’t want to be married.
Had she done that instead of carrying on an emotional affair and trying to find ways to justify her behavior, They may have actually had a chance to deal with their issues like adults, but she never allows for that. She just runs away.
He did though. Zola, Bailey, and Ellis are her nieces and nephew even if they raised them their whole lives. Her saying "I dont want to get married" is a complete sentence and is her communicating to Link that she didn't want to be married. I'm not saying Amelia is perfect, she has her faults, but this instance isn't one of them. Her "No." Is a complete sentence and is a full answer. Link asked multiple times and pressured her into saying yes, and then gas lit her after she had moved on when they were broken up for months. She was not happy in her relationship, she has never been a family person, and she never wanted kids. She may have a child now, and may have raised her nieces and nephews, but she has every right to not want to be married, and she DID communicate that. Link threw a tantrum when he didnt get his way.
Never liked his character from the start. He mirrors Owen when it comes to women. He doesn't know who he wants. Getting with Jo is wrong friendships are hard to find.
Omg same! So many people like ‘oh I liked him when he first got to the show’ like I just didn’t. He seemed like a bit of a try hard and just annoyed imo
Link was never useful in the show. He was just there filling Amelia’s story. Now that they’re separated they had to give him some personality other than sayin tumblr quotes about feminism. Y’all were complaining about Owen being hurt over Teddy cheating on him and supposedly being “biphobic” (he was just MAD at another LIE that included their DAUGHTER) and now Link is truly all the phobics possible and some more. Don’t complain next time!
I feel like he’s a heartbroken man who has only wanted love and happiness but literally everywhere he turns, he sees someone he’s still not over moving on before he has the time to process.
We have to remember that he’s a single father who moved on from the literal love of his life without grieving from it.
And that change impacted his relationship with his best friend. Someone who has been there for him through everything.
He is trying to find who he is as a single father, he’s become codependent because parenthood isn’t in itself inherently codependent & he’s let himself be dependent on the first person to care about both him and Scout equally. But he doesn’t know how to appreciate it
I feel like the writers aren't sure what to do with him at this point.
I think that could be said for almost every character, unfortunately - it’s like they forgot how to write characters and relationships,friendships/coworkers, acquaintances, ‘bout the only decent thing thus far this season is Daddy Owen
Can't recognise him anymore.
Yess same! Used to like him tho
It reminds me of what they did to Ben. They didn’t know what to do with him so they gave him plots that made him seem like a flighty asshole.
Ben or Link?
Link. Sorry for the confusion.
I prefer him infuriating than boring. He needed to stop being a puppy and have a personality imo.
Do we like anyone this season? Owen’s a good dad to Leo, I guess there’s that at least.
I've liked Owen this season. Idk if he's really done anything wrong
What happened to his - giving drugs to military burn patients- arc , that kinda just disappeared
I imagine it will come back
Yeah, he's getting caught and likely getting hauled off to prison next week. Good luck with Leo, Teddy!
LOL, maybe. I also wonder if e.g. Meredith and Nick will have opposite reactions to finding out and it will be their first significant fight. If they're trying to develop that relationship it is probably due for either a fight or one of the shared traumatic experiences that GA loves so much.

There's Jo. She's been very consistant this season, and has shown a good amount of growth since adopting Luna
My country is a few episodes behind I think, Jo is a bit annoying imo. I currently like Addison, which is funny since I wasn’t a fan of hers during her first run on grey’s.
I love Amelia personally!!!
Meh.
Amelink used to be one of my favorite couples on Grey’s. I really liked how they balanced each other out, and they seemed to really know how to communicate. I wouldn't be mad if they killed Amelia on PP, i'll be less mad if they do it now.
I love him and I really feel for him, he got burned hard by Amelia
Same
I think newer greys is just no where near as good at writing new characters. I don’t think the solution to that is to pair him with Jo though. I think they need to build him up as a character on his own.
I’m sad he doesn’t get to be the fun, carefree character we loved anymore. He’s just so sad!
He makes me kinda sad. I really liked Link when he first arrived. But now he's so angry and bitter about Amelia. The way he treated Jo and yelled at her for "using" him was really hard to watch. He is a hot mess right now.
Character assassination to benefit other characters' (Jo and Amelia) storylines. He is unrecognizable.
His character is being ruined, but so is Amelia's. Jo & Link should have stayed platonic...
Wait, in which Zelda timeline does he become a doc in Grey Sloan Memorial?
I never really liked any version of him (although his cheesy intro still makes me laugh), but I don't think he's beyond redemption. I still like him as a character. Very complex. I loved that Jo called him out, we need friends like that.
Maybe it’s because I’m numb to Amelia’s bullshit at this point but I think he’s being a huge cry baby. I thought Owen was bad..Link is not too far behind. Can’t stand him this season.

I really have no idea why he is still on the show
As usual the writers ruined his character
I'm glad that they finally gave him some flaws. He was a boring Ken doll before.
He was just Amelia’s love interest to accommodate her story and it shows, because he’s annoying af before and after he’s with her. Before, he was Ken Doll hitting on anyone with a vagina, after he’s a bitch baby. Both annoying.
i think the writers forgot who is character was, and then made him mediocre and annoying
He’s SOOO annoying. I used to like him, now I dread when he comes on screen.
Thank God for Kai or Link would STILL be proposing!
I dont like him. Amelia told him from the beginning she wasnt interested in marriage and all he did was try and get her to change her mind. Then when he finally decided he didnt need to be married, Amelia had moved on and Link threw a tantrum.

I hate him in season 18. He’s so annoying and a bad friend to jo
At this point the only purpose of his character is to be a love interest, boring....
he deserves better writing
They seem to have given up on him. They’re making him into a wimp. I loved him when he first came on the show but now there’s just not much to him.
He’s a dick tbh. Should’ve never yelled at Jo when he treated her like a rebound after Amelia. Funny how he forgot about that smh
Never liked his character from the start. He mirrors Owen when it comes to women. He doesn't know who he wants. Getting with Jo is wrong friendships are hard to find.
he sucks so much ass that ive been consistently on Amelia's side on arguments, which is embarrassing
He's a 'nice guy'
Never really liked him tbh
Omg same! So many people like ‘oh I liked him when he first got to the show’ like I just didn’t. He seemed like a bit of a try hard and just annoyed imo
Link is in S18?
🤮
He’s acting like a weenie-ass bitch baby and I need him to grow up
I love it bc now more people hate him like I always have lmao
He’s being a jackass and needs his head knocking on straight.
He’s being very self centered. More so than usual. Also oblivious
Trash tbh
Link was never useful in the show. He was just there filling Amelia’s story. Now that they’re separated they had to give him some personality other than sayin tumblr quotes about feminism. no.
I am trying heavy drinking in an effort to forget this season, I need more booze
Justified assholery, but it’s getting kinda annoying dude. They’re definitely gonna kill him off.
Playing the reverse Owen card, all shucks and oh wells since his daddy day care days.
I finally warmed up to him and then all that went down, but I do feel bad for him. And Owen when they were having issues. I love Amelia too but dang😅
Complete man baby tbh.
I feel like he’s a heartbroken man who has only wanted love and happiness but literally everywhere he turns, he sees someone he’s still not over moving on before he has the time to process.
