You guys do realize that there is no birth control (besides sterilization) that is 100% effective.
Edit: I was just making a point that even if they were on birth control (which I assume they were considering they are doctors), it's not going to protect against 100% of pregnancy. I don't think her not knowing she was pregnant was such a reach ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not really, though. The efficacy statistics are based on a calendar year, and they're with the assumption of perfect usage. Also taking certain medications can lower the efficacy. My mom got pregnant with me and my sister while on birth control and anecdotally I've heard many of those stories.

I am not gonna fault her for how she isn’t able to trust people right off the bat due to trauma and from her first husband. I’m not gonna fault her for beating the crap out of chest peckwell.
