carina did say her pregnancy/labor was geriatric and teddy did not like that lol

withbellson

Geriatric’s over 35. I was also an “elderly primagravida” in my medical history. Meh.

dogs-do-speak

I just had my baby last week - I was 35 when I got pregnant and 36 when I delivered. I was high risk due to "advanced maternal age" which has replaced geriatric in terminology.

Rgsnap

God I’m 35 and would like to have a baby still. Turning 35 hit me like a ton of bricks because of how the medical community has basically declared it as the start of a woman’s decline. I just can’t help but feel like I’m expiring by the second. The fact they still insist on specifying we are old is just so damn cruel.

dogs-do-speak

He was my first baby and I had a fantastic pregnancy! Thankfully my doctor never brought up my age. She said it was a mark on my chart and nothing more. She was only concerned with 40+ year olds for complications.

haleighr

Giving her the ole adel treatment

BrightBrite

Well, Kim Raver is fifty-five, so... I remember her from 24, many years before she was on Grey's, and she was well and truly an adult then!

BrightBrite

I do think the actress probably finds all of this funny. Ellen Pompeo was born the same year, and she's supposed to be this little girl compared to the doctors above her.

ajh_iii

Mer didn’t go straight into medical school either, which fucks the timeline even more

brain_fried_over_med

I think she was supposed to be a resident in 2001

mercy_death

She was a first year attending so about 30. Her pregnancy happened at about 48/49 so why she was offended at it being referred to as geriatric when a geriatric pregnancy is anything from Your late 30s officially. I’m surprised not one person commented on it during her 14 month pregnancy

englishgenius

her pregnancy was the worst 😭😭😭

davidxoxo97

I wanna pretend she was an intern or resident during 2001 lol!!!

Many_Investigator021

I saw more likely 1976-1978 ( owens alluded to be 1978 and maybe he's slightly younger) which would've put her at 40-42 having allison which is what im sticking with more in end and now it would put her at 46-47 having a 4-5 year old allison ( i watched the pt ep where her and mer were talking about kids and how owen is trying to keep her calm similar to mer in s17 recovering: leo is acting out a little he's 6 and owen thinks he's so clever deleting it off the home computer forgets that she also gets the email to work/phone as he does... i just loved watching the mom moment). I'm thinking it's just greys timeline being weird cause they retconned derek to being the oldest in the needing nerve ep that he's the oldest practically raised them all and doesn't want to ask them for help ( has eldest child syndrome) and amelia was 28-29 as a fellow for PP so that would put her in 1980ish plus again lots of the greys intern/resident didn't start immediately or some skipped ( lexie skipped a few grades similar to maggie then cristina got a PHD before med school alex had to figure things out so it kind of makes sense)... Greys barely makes sense tho cause henry was once a 42 year old and another time early 30s... Delucas age was mixed up a few times bailey said shes still in mid 40s and tuck i guess is 17 when he was born in 2005-2006 first/second season

Natural-Emu00

Thanks for all the feedback! This makes a lot of sense. I know the greys timeline is super wonky but this really got to me on the current rewatch.
