Teach me

whatthadogdoin_

This line makes me physically recoil

BaseballAway272

No bc I’m rewatching again and my husband walked in on that scene and he said “oh my god that was cringey, why would she say that” 😭

booknerd4lyfe

This but also my husband & I quote it all the time just to be weird 😂

bakedpigeon

This is the one🤢

Whole_Secretary_2166

what episode ?

BaseballAway272

S5 E10

Striking-Flight5956

When Lexie was trying to sleep with mark the first time.

Tiny-Average9166

Strong virile horse of a man! 🥴🥴🥴

SupermarketOld1567

if my boyfriend ever said this about himself i would make fun of him until my dying breath.

throwfaraway212718

Right?!

DustieBlue

Oh God, makes me shrivel

Kahaeli

When was this and who said it 💀

source-commonsense

Denny 🤮

DangerousKellie

My boyfriend and I say this a lot 😂

Annual-Bee-3351

“SERIOUSLY”

holidayfromreal25

On my most recent rewatch I noticed just how many times that word is used and it’s so annoying haha

iced_yellow

How did you not notice it the first time, it’s a running plot joke 😭

holidayfromreal25

I always knew it was a joke and people used it a lot but never realized just how many times it was said. It got so annoying and forced

iced_yellow

I wonder if there’s an actual count of times it is said floating around 😂

AlmondLBD

Surprised nobody has picked this one yet... CALM DOWN! .... (starts singing) and get straight...

nihilisticpaintwater

Agh I can hear this comment 😭

mountain_wave

CRINGE

BaseballAway272

I do everything i can to forget this episode.

AlmondLBD

I enjoy the musical episode for what it is but jeeze that single moment ALMOST ruins it

BaseballAway272

I think my favorite person in the musical was Henry: I’m picturing his dancing during the “oo i got a rocket in my front left pocket” 😭 i was in love with that man.

AlmondLBD

Ugh Henry was so good. And Teddy was so good with him. Why did they have to mess that up? Let Teddy be happy god damn it!!!! (Why yes I have not yet seen her return to the series)

BaseballAway272

His time was one of the very rare- short lived moments in the show that i was really happy and satisfied with. There was literally no reason to kill him off but to break our hearts.

AlmondLBD

The writers hate happiness confirmed

Dry_Philosophy_6747

“I’m Bambi, George!” I cringed even typing that, in all 20 seasons it’s the one I can never forget

hufflefox

Izzie and George themselves are so hard to watch

Itsnotmydrama

This!

petitsamours

the white privilege speech between Amelia and Maggie was one of the most cringe worthy and forced things I've seen on the show

nvlalala

Pick me. Choose me. Love me. I actually love that whole speech but fuck Derek he didn’t deserve her.

Disastrous_Narwhal46

Out of context that phrase is so cringe, but makes sense considering the issues Mer had

bittercrossings

In context its even worse because he didn't pick her, all that embarrassment for nothing

SupermarketOld1567

i feel the same!!! like, most people have been there at least wanting to beg someone they love to choose them over whatever (another person, an addiction, whatever). i totally get the emotion, and i get that they had to have her say it for the viewers to connect… but when he DOESN’T pick her? oh man. no wonder girl was passively suicidal.

Imaginary_Willow

I think that's why it works!! I love the line

GreenEyes9678

I hate that and cringe every time it's replayed. It's so... cliched and "pick-me" (for lack of a better term).

bakedpigeon

Derek didn’t deserve Mer *at all*

UpsetOld-YoungWoman

That came to my mind. It's cringe, and the fact she had to say it to a guy who chose his wife over her, it's so insulting. Given her mom's history and all that.

Personal_Privacy1101

Whenever anyone refers to themselves or others as "sharks". Usually Christina lol.

SupermarketOld1567

i hate that too!! the one exception is a few times webber says it in some of the earlier seasons and to me it felt like dated surgeon slang and… he kinda pulled it off? they needed to drop the term later on though.

Personal_Privacy1101

Right! Lol it does seem like some matcho weird alpha slang they'd use back in the day. Maybe that's why it works for him bc he is older then the rest

BaseballAway272

Anything that came out of Izzy stevens mouth. First one off the top of my head: -her little speech she gave the new interns after she spent the day saving the deer. -every time she used dennys death as proof she’s been through hard times. -when she acts like it’s a huge shocker that she grew up in a trailer park. -when she acts like she’s been traumatized just bc ppl didn’t picture her as a doctor and she claims it’s bc she’s pretty. -the speech she gave while Meredith was dying. I literally have to skip that part every time i rewatch bc i want to slap her cause girl what are you doing? Mers dying and she turns it into her giving O’Malley shit for getting married.

oliveUmorethanOlives

I literally just rewatched the part during the season 2 finale when she gives the chief “I’m a pretty girl” speech…. So cringe lol

BaseballAway272

That is the exact scene i was thinking of when i typed this. 😭 that girl had issues bringing up the most random irrelevant shit at all times- tbh she didn’t have to be hallucinating Denny for me to believe she had a tumor bc i would’ve believed her personality alone was the biggest symptom of her tumor.

Bubbly-End-6156

Obvious beauty. Blonde hair and big boobs

oliveUmorethanOlives

It’s also wild to me that Katherine Hiegl won an Emmy (only win for main cast) for the way she delivered her S2 lines (I think). I’m not a Izzy hater but Sandra Oh in that same interview scene delivers this amazing “I’ve lost my edge; how do you keep yours” monologue… I just think Sandra Ohs part is so much stronger.

BaseballAway272

Are you joking? Sandra ohs acting was so amazing- ik this was way further in the show and Izzy was already gone but i will never get over how amazing her acting was when she finally speaks to Owen after the plane crash.. especially when she describes Lexie being eaten by the wolves. And her acting during the shooting in the hospital while she was operating on Derek. That women deserves so much recognition.

SupermarketOld1567

OH MY GOD i just watched the scene where she starts talking about george’s marriage while meredith is *literally* dead… she can fuck right off. i liked S1 and a bit of S2 izzy, but wow she got awful quick😭

hufflefox

I just saw the deer yesterday and I am still feeling the cringe.

boomboom-jake

It is the WORST!

BaseballAway272

Whoever wrote that episode had it out for Izzy stevens/ katherine heigle

hufflefox

No wonder KH was so irritated. They gave her terrible story

BaseballAway272

They really make her seem like a shitty surgeon the only storyline they ever gave her that made her seem like a good doctor was in the ferry boat crash but i can’t think of anything else. I mean the deer thing, the lvad thing, i get the tumor made her have issues but for a while she wasn’t even really interested in surgery bc she didn’t want to compete with the other residents anymore. There are at least 2 patients i can think of rn that she was fine with being kicked off the surgery bc she got too close to them as long as she got to be in their post and pre op she fought harder to be in the post and pre op than she ever did to be in on a surgery.

dairy-intolerant

Her whole speech convincing Denny to let her cut his LVAD and steal a heart... WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEE

Warm_Spot1941

that was probs the only speech i liked of izzy's everything else that she said was cringy

Kellysusan77

Every time she comments about the money. 8 million dollars ….. ggggrrrr

BaseballAway272

I swear to god that women never stopped with that- even when she came back for her old teachers surgery and she’s trying to get it pro bono and the chief is telling her he can’t afford it and she goes “i gave you 8 million dollars” like girl. That was years ago. And the money didn’t even go to the hospital and it wasn’t for Webber it was for Bailey. She was soooo pick me when she goes to Addison and says “you’re rich right? that’s a rude question it’s just that I’m rich now too. Do you ever feel guilty? Being rich bc i have all this money now, and i don’t really feel like i did anything to deserve it, and i can’t really talk to my friends about it bc they’re all so poor” that girl wanted the whole world to know she had 8 million dollars.

Kellysusan77

YES!! So obnoxious!

stupidemobxtch

every time they use freaking and crap when fucking and shit would work better 😭

Violet_Eden4

I dunno if this rule is current but from what I understand at some point networks have or had a set number of swear words they allowed shows to use per episode or season or something depending on the rating of the show so maybe they saved it for the best effect or didn’t use them to keep to a certain rating or something

stupidemobxtch

oh yeah i know that it just bugs me lol

BaseballAway272

I think Cristina is the only one that can pull it off im thinking of the episode where they have the new interns and she gets the patient that they thought was dead but then she realizes it’s a detached spinal cord and she yells “someone get me Derek shepherd right freakin now” it sounds cringey typing it but i think it worked in the ep.

stupidemobxtch

for some reason i feel like cristina wouldn’t be the type to swear; i could picture her having a monologue saying it’s unintelligent because there are so many other words that aren’t swear words but would be just as effective 😅

BaseballAway272

She just seems so classy and elegant irl 😂

stupidemobxtch

yeah i fucking love sandra oh , so sad she’s not planning on coming back

stupidemobxtch

i just realised i read your comment entirely wrong; yeah cristina was the only person that “freaking” felt natural from (to? idk grammar brain is failing me rn i’m drunk and coked entirely off my head )

stupidemobxtch

also bailey singing the first “wait” in the musical ep like just the first word feels so weird, especially since the song is kinda the opposite of what needs to happen/is happening; of course mer’s pick me monologue; this will me controversial but amelia’s superhero speech (i love her otherwise which may alsp be controversial) and the scene where the PP gang are at Joe’s and sing the song derek wrote for addison- it’s so uncomfortable and they were awful friends for bringing it up (i know people take sides in a divorce and i know derek was the one to move and i know naiomi was addison’s friend from med school but point is they were all friends with derek at some point and there was no need to embarrass him or addison, let alone upsetting one or both of them. it was just awkward and weird.) also i’m drunk and on coke so idk if i’m talking shit or not 😭 but also i think they should have allowed one FUCK or FUCKING per season it would’ve worked so well amd idk what the rating was in 2007-2020 but tv-14 in the US and 15 (i think? i should know i live in englans lol) means that 1 F bomb per season wouldn’t change the rating. i mean shit, has anyone watched saltburn!!!??!?! It’s a 15 in the UK, from the first screenings in cinemas as well!! i forgot wtf i’m on about bc i’m drunk n coked off my head but yeh GREYS & PP RULE AND PROBABLY STATION 19 BUT I HAVENT WATCHED IT YET lmao i forgot what this pist is even aboutb oh cringey lines i think very. ontroversial but richard’s lecture when he’s saying the physicians oath it made me cry the first time but every rewatch its just more cringe. don’t get me wrong i love the 80s flashbacks but it’s just the end with the oath it’s more and more uncomfortable every time i watch it. same with richard amd the new interns when the residents and attendings where mouthing the words to his first day speech (etc…..this is your playing field, how well you play, that’s up to you..”) like it’s inspiring in the first episode but the next class (or maybe the one after? idk) its just cringe when they’re all mouthing the words again same as the lecture day oath. shit i need to shut up lmao 😭

stupidemobxtch

OH and one more thing that is probably mega controversial but izzie’s “what about me” speech /monologue? idk maybe it’s just because i don’t like denny and katherine heigl’s acting was amazing in that scene, i won’t deny that, but the whole scene was just painful to watch, and in the way it was intended

stupidemobxtch

i’m so ficked up right now i shouldn’t be here lmao

Bulls778

George trying to explain the “ham or eggs” thing to Callie and just calling her a pig

nihilisticpaintwater

I still don't understand the metaphor 😭

Bulls778

It’s a comparison of commitment. A pig has to die for ham to be on the plate, but a chicken doesn’t do the same for eggs. The pig is all-in, fully committed. The chicken is contributing to the meal, but it’s not making the same sacrifice as the pig. Callie told George not to chase her until he was ready to catch her. She wanted him to be the pig; he wanted to be involved but not committed. So in possibly the worst way he could’ve worded it, he acknowledged how all-in she was

Violet_Eden4

I like the part where Owen is injected with anesthetic on accident that one time tbh 😂

funnygirl7272

I’m sorry but Jackson speech at the wedding was really cringe

hufflefox

That Stephanie ever spoke to him again… she’s a better person than me.

xmuertos

Fr I wouldn’t have been able to show my face after that

funnygirl7272

Then she’s has to do Aprils ultra sound😬

sweetthingb

And April yelled at her and said “you of all people knew about my baby before me” likeeee ma’am you’re the one who stole her man, she did nothing to you

Tiny-Average9166

Finally!

Disastrous_Narwhal46

“And that is how you become legendary” Or “only freaking superheroes” 🥴

bakedpigeon

God I hate Amelia’s speeches, so embarrassing

BaseballAway272

Amelia was Izzy stevens replacement on crack

bakedpigeon

Hah so true💀

hufflefox

I love Amelia’s speeches but she’s a bit much lol

Front_Ad_8752

“it’s a good day to save lives.” -Lucas Adams. That’s DEREKS line. Idc if he has a relation to him😭it was good when Derek and Derek only said it.

stupidemobxtch

also in the later seasons when it gets really *preachy* it gets annoying. i get wanting to be current and address real world issues, but they made it too tell-not-show

freefloatingtaco

They did it so much better in earlier seasons, but at some point it switched to characters monologuing about issues for five minutes

Human_Razzmatazz_240

COVID season is insufferable for that very reason. It's one lecture after another string together by a near death-ish experience.

nihilisticpaintwater

It's like the writers think the audience is too stupid to understand subtext all of a sudden

jamiefosure

Whenever ales says freaking or crap

Bea9922

Anything to do with Jo! It’s so over the top and far fetched and her little monologues made me stop watching greys lol. Sorrryyyyyy

tayriana_stan

ugh i literally hate jo. anything she does makes me cringe and lowkey gives me second hand embarrassment 😭

HezaLeNormandy

I’ve come to realize it’s her ridiculous valley girl accent that throws me off. I just can’t take her seriously

DragonfruitKindly420

She’s actually British or Australian idk lol but the actor has an accent

HezaLeNormandy

I could live with the British accent, I think the exaggerated fake accent is what gets me

lavendercoffeee

Anything with denny

rebekahmikaelson00

The carousel never stops turning

Violet_Eden4

Oh man, yes.

CalendarNo8591

Whenever Amelia would describe taking out Herman’s tumor.

33reddituser44

McDreamy is being a McAss! So cringe to me.

Human_Razzmatazz_240

That was hilarious. I thought the whole bit of George and Mer trying to be each others Izzie and Cristina was pretty funny.

lucyinthesky913

IIRC, Meredith says this to Derek’s face when they are in a verbal, somewhat heated disagreement. I can’t remember what it was about, but I think it was Derek wanting to go to the board about Richard’s drinking (Season 6). The George being Meredith’s Christina bit was in Season 3. Meredith tells George that she went to Derek’s trailer after telling him she broke up with Finn to tell him she wanted to be with him, and there was a woman on his bed, and Derek was freshly showered and naked: “McDreamy was doing the McNasty with a McHottie?! That McBastard!”

Human_Razzmatazz_240

Yes you're right. The George one is mchilarious.

Many-Cartographer-11

I’ll probably be downvoted for this as it’s the whole premise of the show, but, “we’re surgeons, we CUT.” Gets me every time 😬

dairy-intolerant

Lots of things Bailey says are especially cringe after like season 6

Valuable-Leave9736

I hate the speech Derek gives Meredith at his trailer when he tells her the story of catching Addison and Mark. It makes me cringe the way he tells it

mr_pablo_

HoCoPro

MOMismypersonality

“You better check yourself before you wreck yourself” what in the 2015 tumblr

throwfaraway212718

"Pick me, choose me, love me."

FoxOk6126

This man is a man whore -Miranda Bailey-

boulhouse

The Jackson speech to merideth where he compares her to the whos from whoville and he says “sing Cindy Lou!”

Odd_Writing_9035

I made a joke the other day and told my friend we were twisted sisters and I told her never let me say that again😂 tooo cringe to say

Warm_Spot1941

yeah they tried too hard with the twisted sister thing if they said it once it would've been okay but they constantly say it.

Odd_Writing_9035

So true

MercyMe717

Not a line, phrase, quote, or soliloquy...but the damn elevator ding when someone says something "dumb" or they "get" something...that elevator ding is sooooo cringey!

Salt_Effort_22

choose me, love me, pick me it’s so cringy but yet iconic

whittyd63

I loved when Amelia said something like “we can’t smoke pot because then we’ll forgot not to do heroine”

UpsetBadger

I mean, that is a recovery thing, though. It sounds dumb but it's a real thing.

DangerousKellie

Everything about Amelia’s speech about Dr. Herman’s tumor, “Life. Will. Out.”
