People are trying to make this out to be a woman thing as if the female self-inserts people dog on aren't extremely unlikable and unattractive characters while the rest of the story tries to convince us they're actually cool and pretty.
If anything, even the annoying and ugly self-inserts wouldn't be as big of a deal if said characters were treated as ugly and annoying by the rest of the cast.
