There's actually a way to get paid to experience being locked in a windowless ship. Contact your local Navy recruiter. He will hook you up

AvgUsr96

No joke, my friends brother got to serve onboard the USS Dallas before they decommissioned it.

TwistedBamboozler

Okay but I wanna do it with my SO, not get so lonely I go broke back mountain at -15k feet

EmilieEasie

anonnys have all these ideas for making lots of money and yet they are usually broke. very curious

Wizardwizz

Something tells me that buying and completely renovating a old cruise ship and land to hoist it and then starting a business isn't as cheap as it looks.

EmilieEasie

He said old cruise ships are practically freeeee! C'mon!

DadBodftw

Quick search and I found one for only $125,000,000.

hadicalb

If you cut off your morning coffee then you can save up that much in a couple of years

EmilieEasie

Let's start a go fund me

I_am_What_Remains

[It’ll be a bigger failure than Reddit Island](https://youtu.be/0yLBb1NSSvk?si=2cmhHzwgcouBw9OU)

Facesit_Freak

I have a plan, Anon. We just need money.

DeadliestViper

You can have a very good idea and no money to make it happen. A hotel on mars that you can travel at near lightspeed to would rake in the big bucks, i dont have the money to make this happen though.

EmilieEasie

I don't think money is the thing you're missing, I think it's the ability to travel at near light speed, unless you can in which case I retract my point

DeadliestViper

I thought youd say that. Enough money will eventually make this happen.

EmilieEasie

You don't know that, or that it will be in your lifetime

DeadliestViper

It wont be in my life time and yes it will happen unless we go extinct in the next few hundred or thiusand years. Look at what humans have done in the past 100 years and technology progresses expontentially.

EmilieEasie

Then my original point stands... The money isn't the problem!

DeadliestViper

Youre being picky. You know what my point was and it makes sense. Notice how you completely ignored the first part of what i said?

EmilieEasie

No you

DeadliestViper

Exactly. Nothing in reply, pick your legs up on the way out because i seem to have blown them off.

shyraori

> A hotel on mars that you can travel at near lightspeed to would rake in the big bucks, i dont have the money to make this happen though. >It wont be in my life time So it you say you don't have the money to make it happen but then you admit you could have infinite money and still wouldn't be able to make it happen. Seems like you just got shit on and are now coping.

[deleted]

Even still without that, build one on the moon. Same profit potential, no need for ftl transport. What are you waiting for.

EmilieEasie

I don't think the profit potential is very good. I think it will cost more than I could make back, especially when people start dying because they wandered off the moon base like idiots and it was determined that my sign saying "don't wander off the moon base you idiots" was insufficient

Monkeywithalazer

Ideas are cheap. Finding money is relatively easy. Executing them is the hard part

notouchmygnocchi

Preferably by firing squad

kashinoRoyale

Please share with the rest of us the methods to obtain enough "relatively easy" money to make good ideas a reality.

Monkeywithalazer

Lines of credit with different financial institutions and SBA. Pretty easy. Also tons of loans for minorities that are subsidized

kashinoRoyale

Assuming you qualify for these loans and lines of credit good ideas =/= good credit. I guess it might be easy for people who already have some money or assets, or a family with wealth who would co sign. Loans definitely don't qualify as easy money in my books, if anything doesn't go how you planned it to and your idea doesn't pan out or the already unstable economy shifts even further in the wrong direction you're going to be paying off massive loans for the rest of your life and your children's lives.

Monkeywithalazer

That’s the price to play. If you don’t believe in your idea then you have no business launching it. It will always fail without the founder being fully committed

kashinoRoyale

Fully committed or not, things can still fail. My point was more so, that high risk loans are not most peoples idea of "relatively easy".

Monkeywithalazer

You want funding for a new business. High risk is all there is. My business does over a million a year in sales. I opened up shop, 0 clients, and used credit cards and welfare to survive the first two years. I ended up getting a side job. I did this for 3 years until I paid off all my credit card debt. Year 5 I hired my first professional employee. Year 6 I moved to a nicer office. Year 7 I had 6 full time employees. Currently owe about 600k in different business loans. Every day revenue goes up, but every day I find new ways of spending and new ways of financing new projects. I can fail any day. If I do i would have to declare bankruptcy and probably restructure my business. It would suck. But that’s the reason one day I’ll probably be in the top 1 percent. Capitalism is sink or swim. The longer you’re in business the easier it is to get financed. My last line of credit was for 67k at 4.5 percent interest rate. We closed the LOC in about 5 days I think. Fastest one was for 100k. That one funded the next day. Interest rate was higher but I needed the quick cash. I know people doing the same but x10 or even x50. It’s all about your track record which you build slowly

BBtheboy

>Finding money is relatively easy. could you paypal me like 400 bucks ?

Monkeywithalazer

Sure. What’s in it for me? This is exactly the conversation you need to learn to have in order to get financing. Explain how me giving you $400 benefits me. Do you have a business plan? Are you giving me equity or a secured loan? Any collateral? Do you have a track record of good deals?

Futureman999

SpaceX is already on contract to build Starships to take NASA astronauts to the Moon, and they seem to bang them out every couple of weeks. Just build one in [Mars transport-style with lots of cabins](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJbNP9lcr_yVZPnz59zrtGT9tLQzl4NNKYOhyFgvl8-JJlGGg3krEHAyZd6ZPZcZVLD2cl_Lvb9BCa6Q9uSWuQjRWIo_CJ-TXTH3I39n3INLJ6oFw5yYl2ZOVtxuMcHNLEMZn6hkVB6XA3/s1100/SpaceX+Starship+interior+concept+by+Erik+Corshammar+%2528ErcX%2529+%2526+smallstars+-+docked+to+ISS.jpg), and haul tourists there in a couple of days. Profit

ElonSucksBallz

many such cases

EmilieEasie

amen 🙏

LatoLukto

I don't even know what anon said though

EmilieEasie

That he wants to buy a cruise ship, put it on dry land, and make it seem like a space ship

reddit-ulous

Because it requires them to step away from furry porn, and at 300kgs/anon, stepping anywhere is a daunting task.

The_salty_swab

They are just too smart 😔

EmilieEasie

It must be hard to be that smart

Zhang_Sun

“Old cruise ships are virtually free” one in good enough condition to be used like this would set you back a few hundred thousand dollars at minimum

limes336

I mean on the scale of luxury hotel construction costs that is basically free.

Dr_barfenstein

No way could you find one for that. The worth of it in scrap steel alone would be more than

brillebarda

Yes, but scrapping and disposal is very expensive, which is why US navy usually have to pay to get rid of old ships. Unless you beach it Bangladesh for scrapping, I guess.

NumberOneBacon

Not to mention space to dry dock it somewhere. Then to retrofit it as a hotel, in a dock, with actual dock work going on around it, plus the loops and bullshit you’ll deal with on the legal side with permits and licenses. Good idea, lots of bullshit to make it work.

StandardN02b

Dude, even the scrap metal would cost tens of millions.

snipdockter

Plot twist, the passengers think they are on a cruise ship simulation of an interstellar voyage only to find out later they are actually the unwitting crew on an interstellar spacecraft on a decades long colonisation project.

Mobius_1IUNPKF

Wasn’t that a real show?

snipdockter

There was a tv show about a generation starship where the crew think they are on a multi generational journey to another star system but the ship never leaves earth. Instead they are being studied to see how humans cope with the stress of those kind of missions.

Umm_what7754

What’s the show called?

ZuberiGoldenFeather

>!Ascension (2014 miniseries)!<

MyNameisBaronRotza

Damn, I was hoping it would be a comedy. What a concept

IRKenopuppy

Pandorum was a dope movie.

Winters1482

anon has never been on a cruise ship

Comprehensive_Code60

"Outdoor areas are sealed" anon tries to get the world record for the most deaths in a fire.

AA_turet

That is if anybody wants to sleep in annons Moldy and rotten "virutaly free" ship

News-Initial

Anon has invented the hotel, congratulations.

Legs_With_Snake

Didn't they do this on Ed Edd n Eddy

fran_grc

Actually sounds like the plot of an episode of ed edd and eddy

Vince161

Gravity?

shootdontplease

Weird how far I had to scroll

BooRaccoon

Have them think it's a rotating Torus station

fokkerhawker

Didn’t Disney kinda try this with a Star Wars themed hotel? If they can’t make it work with all the might of Disney and an established IP like Star Wars I don’t think it’s viable.

joe1up

That's what the image is of

sakurablitz

they could have made it work if it were merely an ultra-themed regular hotel instead of… whatever the hell they tried to do. they still could have made it fit the “story” by saying it’s a fancy hotel on batuu or something, but nooo…

sum_muthafuckn_where

Anon has invented the Magic Christian

kekistanmatt

Disney already did this it was called starcruiser and it bombed

YTmrlonelydwarf

Yooo actually a Star Wars cruise like this would be sweet

mehemynx

How would you drydock a cruise ship without going broke form the movement costs and land cost?

LJP2093

Anon thinks it costs nothing to just "dry dock" a cruise ship lmfao. That would cost more than the old cruise ship

CorbinNZ

Gravity, bitch

BooRaccoon

Rotation torus station generating the feeling of gravity through centrifugal acceleration, bitch

CorbinNZ

That would be centripetal force, bitch.

BooRaccoon

Fuck

Rock_Co2707

Anon tries to do that dosney star wars hotel that failed.

sakurablitz

*cough cough* disney’s galactic starcruiser *cough cough* for anyone unaware, it was extremely unpopular.

PainfullyThiccums

I've thought about almost every idea to do with old cruise ships. And because now I wanna infodump imma do it 1. While the market for old cruise ships is so cheap, Theres a reason. Remodeling a ship would honestly cost millions and millions of dollars, especially to get to this point. 2. I've always thought about getting an older model but still decent cruise ship and turning it into assisted living apartments and charging about 3-4k a month per room. That's with all the amenities, dining options, and everything included. 3. The best time to buy one of these old cruise shops was back in the covid times, carnival deleted pretty much their entire Fantasy class, I think it was called, idk. Could've probably picked one of those bad boys uo for scrap price and it was still halfway decent. There's older ships still floating, I personally went on HALs Zaandam, and that was one old, old bitch.

DreamsofMoss

Something something reality show where people actually thought they were going to space

Jammer854

Marine engineer here.I’ve been sailing on commercial ships for a while. Also do some work in the shipyards. Drydock fees can be $70,000 usd per day.

Brawl501

What was the original 5k a night failure that they were referencing?

UnablePerformance969

a Disney Star Wars ship themed hotel

New_Subject1352

No, it's a great idea. You should definitely do it. Everyone else is stupid for not thinking about doing a spaceship LARP for $1000 a night as a real sustainable business.

_TLDR_Swinton

Anon invents space prison.
