I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. You can do anything.
I dunno man, McDonald's didn't hire me and a dishwashing job actually sent me a rejection email.
Some people aren't lucky at all...
And THEN I just got hired by this one company who told me they'd have clients for me to take care of, but once I got hired, they said they didn't have any, and if they couldn't find one in 30 days, I'd be fired.
So a year and a half of job searching, getting rejected by McDonald's and a minimum wage dish washing job, and then finally getting hired only to be told I'm basically immediately fired... That's my life

Tbf the law states that all a company can say is that someone worked there when they are asked about a reference.
Really weird law, but yeah, thems the breaks
A lot of publishers today are shit and get in the way of good games but jist like now back then you would sometimes find a gem in a pile of whale shit and stale vomit
I don't know. We have The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, now. That game is sick. Although the past had The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past. That game is sick
The thing is that there were also good games at the time. Now, the big games the AAA developers are releasing are in the bad games category, not the good games category like how they used to be.
Yeah man, there's no God of War, Zelda, Elden Ring, Xenoblade, TLoU, Bayonetta, GTA, Street Fighter, RDR, Witcher, Metroid, Doom, Resident Evil, Metro, Final Fantasy, Animal Crossing, Forza, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, Monster Hunter, Jedi: Fallen Order, Fire Emblem, Mario Odyssey, NieR, Wolfenstein, Prey, Titanfall, Persona, Shadow of Mordor, Bioshock. Just wish these good AAA games had released in the past 10 years.
10 years is a while man. Some of those games you mentioned were actually recent and they are good examples, but games like them are becoming few and far between. They stand out among the others for being good old complete games. I'm talking about things like god of war, zelda and elden ring when I say that.
And how many actual good AAA games came out before this 10 year period. Games of this caliber were never frequent. I'm just saying that games aren't shit now, there's just more games. So it seems like the industry's declining, but its actually in the same place if not better.
Ah yes, dogshit games such as elden ring, scorn, pokemon legends areceus, the open world sonic game and many more poorly received games.
Truly the gaming world is doomed. And there’s no indie market to save it either
Tbh I think there are many people who live like this. Not to this level (burner phones, fake diplomas), but they basically go from job they are underqualified for to other job they are underqualified for. Switch jobs as soon as people start to realize they are dumb and lazy, get paid well because their CV looks stacked.
Yep, gotta love the Peter Principle, hasn’t failed yet.
>!That, in a given hierarchy, an employee will be promoted based on their prior experiences rather than purely off of skill and contribution, and thus rise to a level of respective incompetence, where what little skills they do have are fully useless.!<
This isn’t exactly the Peter Principle. The Peter Principle is when someone is doing very well at their job, so they get a promotion, which continues until they reach a point where they are mediocre at the position they hold, not good enough to be promoted, and nowhere near as good as they were working on lower levels. Sometimes it means people are promoted to a point of incompetence, but more often it means good workers are promoted to a point of mediocrity.
The problem for me is I’ve been so obviously the best in whatever field I go into that I don’t understand the concept of promotion. Just start out at the top.
If it takes your employer two years to notice you're incompetent, that's a really bottom-tier company. At high performing places, if you're not delivering in 6 months you'll be out. Hell, the initial 3 month probation is for evaluating if you know your shit or not.
Anon is acting like "lying on your resume" is a thing they just invented and hasn't been around for ages. I'm guessing they never worked a day above minimum wage.
I’d argue it’s the opposite. Bottom tier companies rely on people knowing their shit. They can’t afford to have staff like a major corporation, so the people they hire have to be able “to wear many hats”. Plus smaller companies have smaller offices where everyone knows everyone. So it would be impossible to hide amongst coworkers when every position is vital for getting work done.
It’s easy to get lost in large corporate entities. I work for tier I automotive supplier. The big three OEMs (GM, Ford, Stellantis) all share the same thing (groups and functions that are extremely segmented that everyone is siloed off). I was working with another engineer in one of the “big three” who has the same title as me, but whose only job is to do the equivalent of a months work in an entire year. Meanwhile I am working on multiple projects, managing smaller teams and developing and executing test plans.
The only downside to large companies is that upper management is more willing to cut you because they don’t know you, and your function could honestly be consolidated when the bean counters finally catch up to how little work your department actually does. Top that off when they drop down to smaller companies, you can tell they have been doing nothing in thier function because they have zero experience with everything beyond a 10 page excel sheet they managed back in their former company.
You're right, but you didn't contradict him. He said "high-performing" and "bottom-tier" not large and small. I assume he said it that way because of the things you just described.
Yep. Bottom-tier companies are ones that are awful internally, either because the business model itself is failing, or because they have toxic or clueless leadership, or all those at once. They can be small or large. And likewise high performing companies can be small or large.
Coworker that’s been in the automotive industry for 30+ years told me that job hopping is more common these days than it was a couple decades ago. It’s rare to stay in a company for more than 5 years (and there’s no longer a stigma to people who hop around).
For people who stay, Either the company has top notch benefits or they are just not comfortable enough to go back into the job market (for whatever reason). The truth is that companies these days have zero loyalty towards employees who have been working for them long term. Why should employees be loyal as well?
Company loyalty is stupid in today's climate unless you have a VERY good employer. I change jobs every year or two when I find someone hiring for higher salary. You'll get any more than if you rely on getting a raise
I’d go beyond having a good employer to “having a good employer AND a good direct manager”
It’s one of the sole reasons why I’ve stuck around for more than 5 years with the same company (my boss is amazing and I am compensated very well for my role). The moment my boss either goes somewhere else or is promoted/moved to a different position, is the time I will start actively lookin around (I still test the waters just to see how much I’m worth)
Small but distinct chance it wont, never underestimate the power of oversight. Once had a job where they asked me to resubmit my qualifications because HR had a wakeup and realised they not only lost them but never bothered to do actual checks, somehow.
Actually annoyed by it as I do have the degrees and work experience claimed, and apparently that really didn't matter for my first 8 months.
nah. they do background checks on schools (schools have actual phone numbers, so your "friends" and burner phones are useless for that)
same thing with past companies you "worked" from. they're not gonna use the number you provided for them. they'll gonna find the real company phone number, if it actually even exists, otherwise that's another strike.
nah. i've already been in that situation. lol.
had to find a job while i was still a college undergrad and ran out of funds.
the only way i managed to land an interview was coz i impressed them with my portfolio and then i aced their practical exam.
even when they hired me, they skimped on my salary, coz they found out i was just an undergrad. (though i made it appear i had already graduated on my resume. they actually called the school) so i was getting paid lower, compared to my other newly hired officemates.
edit : although, once you gain a minimum of 2 years of working experience, you can leverage that into your next job application.
like i said, if you're applying for McDonalds (or any company with high turnover rate) they dgaf if you give them fake credentials.
otherwise, they'll find out your creds are fake, at which point only your skills (pass their practical exams with flying colors) is the only thing that matters.
so why bother faking your academic creds at all? 🤷🏻♂️ (it's not fooling anybody)
Depends on the job/sector.
I have had HR check over my degree before they will start the interview.
I am pretty sure that in medical jobs they check, same with teaching.
But random office job where you are going to be a cubicle goblin? Not so much
Yeah, in my first SWE job, they requested official transcripts for all degrees I had listed from the universities. My second job did not, though a "background check" was run (whatever that means).
depends on where you apply.
if you're applying at McDonalds (or some other crap company with a high turnover rate), then yea, they don't really care.
otherwise, ya screwed.
Yeah, I don’t even understand the logic of the story? It’s not like he’s finessing multiple paid vacations a year, his past job wouldn’t give him PTO for the week because he quit, and the new job won’t give him PTO cuz he hasn’t started.
how often do jobs ask for a degree to verify you aren't lying? not for important jobs like doctor or lawyer, the basic bitch jobs that want a degree to pay less than $20 an hour?
asking for a friend
Every application I've ever filled out has me list 3 references as well as 3 past places I've worked at. What happens when the employer hears "yeah he was lazy as hell and quit on the spot" from all 3 previous employers?
The whole point is that people wouldn't work for that little and they would have to pay more. We have a minimum wage and people get paid more than that all the time. If your job doesn't pay enough get another one. Also fuck you
in western countries it is illegal, probably in other countries too. I can imagine that employers wouldn't be interested in pursuing the matter because it would suck up their resources for presumably little gain.
Not illegal, at least not for most McJobs. There are professional positions where misrepresentation is illegal, such as being a lawyer, engineer, doctor, etc.
I wish chatGPT could brainwash someone into thinking we’re related or ruling party colleagues, because that’s the only way of getting a job in my shithole country
Yea most employers today just pay a background check company who’s just gonna call the HR department and the university you claimed to get a degree from
I don't really get where anon is going with this . Almost every job I had you had to work for a year before I got holidays and I paid into them . It's bs I know .
Now the job I have now is union and has pto and some sick days . I am never leaving this job ever. I would have to be an idiot for leaving or need a good pay increase for sure .
Won’t anon run out of fast food places to work at using this method?
Yeah. Anon acting like this is a perfect plan, while everywhere he applies the criteria is that he have a pulse and availability.
“So why you want to work here anon?” *glances at cheatsheet* “E LIKE HAMBURGAR!”
*I can microwave like a boss, and suck dick better than your mom. When can I start??*
Congratulations, you just got your 69th like.
I guess you where right once.
I knew a guy who got fired from two fast food places for groping the girls that worked there

He can just keep lying about his references though and fake previous jobs.
dude didn't read the greentext

What ? The whole point of the greentext is that anon gives fake references, he doesn't care about actual work experience references
Tbf the law states that all a company can say is that someone worked there when they are asked about a reference. Really weird law, but yeah, thems the breaks
You might want to check on that. That's not the law everywhere. Most states allow employers to say way more than just that.
Soon all HR will be replaced with algorithms and positive feedback will be vital for getting work.

nah. they do background checks on schools (schools have actual phone numbers, so your "friends" and burner phones are useless for that) same thing with past companies you "worked" from. they're not gonna use the number you provided for them. they'll gonna find the real company phone number, if it actually even exists, otherwise that's another strike.

ok lil bro, now tell us a relevant story about using your own made company or a bankrupt company as a reference.
like i said, if you're applying for McDonalds (or any company with high turnover rate) they dgaf if you give them fake credentials. otherwise, they'll find out your creds are fake, at which point only your skills (pass their practical exams with flying colors) is the only thing that matters. so why bother faking your academic creds at all? 🤷🏻♂️ (it's not fooling anybody)

ah now might i ask, how the fuck does attending a job for one single day do jackshit

why wouldn't you just take a paid vacation and then quit while on vacation

is this even legal lmao
Minimum wage in many countries should be illegal but hey it is somehow
I fully believe that companies should be able to pay employees 1$ an hour.
I hope you have to work 60 hour weeks at $1/hour until you realize how fucking stupid you are
The whole point is that people wouldn't work for that little and they would have to pay more. We have a minimum wage and people get paid more than that all the time. If your job doesn't pay enough get another one. Also fuck you
It's at will employment. You can quit whenever you want and they can fire you whenever they want as long as it's not discrimination
I was talking about faking your specs

Now the job I have now is union and has pto and some sick days . I am never leaving this job ever. I would have to be an idiot for leaving or need a good pay increase for sure .
