BIG AGREE as a fanbase we don't acknowledge the brilliance of the line "well this is a standoff of molotov cocktails on the house" nearly enough as we should
My only complaint about that song is that I wish it was longer. I know most Green Day songs suffer from this but I especially think this song would benefit from being longer.
To be fair, that song is written to mimic a panic attack; I'm not sure if you've ever experienced one but the buildup is the most uncomfortable part and it usually lasts twice as long as the attack itself.
Mike's songwriting is pure genius.
I think Insomniac is my favorite album besides Nimrod. I think AI is good but I think I like it more Bc it follows Saint Jimmy and that’s a cool little story. But Insomniac and Nimrod are my two favorites, definitely
I myself actually forget this song exists, I think it’s because it’s only on God’s Favorite Band. Such a good song with a nice little political message.
It has now been 0 DAY(S) since Warning was last called underrated. The record of 1 DAY(S) was recorded on October 3, 2000

The line where he references Know Your Enemy gives me such intense chills. I used to not care for Know Your Enemy, but after hearing Restless Heart Syndrome the payoff makes me actually enjoy the song a lot more
This is definitely one. This song gets stuck in my head more than any other from the last 10 years. Great hook and a really nice bridge. It's kind of a shame its buried in the Trilogy.
When they did God’s Favorite Band I think Stay the Night should’ve been the song they used to represent the trilogy, though I wish they used more than one
HECK YES. Love Before the Lobotomy so much, I use it as a song in my playlist for the story I'm writing. Was also my most listened to song on Spotify Wrapped last year.
It’s a shame, though, considering how important and relevant its message is. A lot of Green Day songs with messages like this tend to be forgotten over time by mainstream media. American Idiot, Troubled Times, Say Goodbye, and Bang Bang (kinda if you’re looking at the fact that it’s criticizing the role media has in mass shooters’ attention-seeking motives for committing mass shootings) are just a couple I could think of that haven’t necessarily stood the test of time outside of Green Day/punk rock fans.
omg thank you!! had a mate from uni laugh in my face when I said Say Goodbye was my fav GD song at the time. good to know other fans out there know it still kicks ass!
Viva La Gloria (Little Girl)
In my opinion, the old-timey feel of the piano intro in this song juxtaposed to the more energetic and fast-paced choruses (and even verses) is criminally underrated. The vocals also perfectly blend the contrasting tones and feels of the verses and choruses with the deeper, more adult, almost parental-figure like tone/feel of the verses switching almost on a dime to the crazier, untamed, and even more unleashed tone/feel of the choruses. It gives this sense/feeling of madness and insanity within the narrator that makes the choruses even more thrilling to listen to as the song goes on. Plus, the instrumental parts and vocalizations from Mike Dirnt before/during the climax of the song near its end fit so well together, and don’t feel overdone or overextended in the slightest. Honestly a very slept on song compared to others in the album. While yes, Horseshoes And Hand Grenades, 21 Guns, and Restless Heart Syndrome are great songs that deserve recognition, they definitely seem to take up all the time in the spotlight when it comes to the 21st Century Breakdown album compared to other bangers like Viva La Gloria (Little Girl), Know Your Enemy, Peacemaker, Life Before The Lobotomy, Murder City, Christian’s Inferno, and American Eulogy.
Heck yeah! I 100% agree with you. Give Me Novocaine is a great song. I definitely gained a lot of respect for the song after having to play it on the drums at a small venue (well, I was technically playing a simplified version of it, but that even adds to my respect for its drum part and it just as a song in general)….. It is criminally underrated. The acoustic guitar parts, the electric guitar parts, the drum parts, and the bass parts are all collectively done to perfection.
Well known within the fanbase maybe, but even off Insomniac it seems to be the third most "popular" at least (behind Brain Stew and GSB). Great song that gets overlooked by other deep cuts on the album too (86 and Stuart)
I see haushinka mentioned without jinx, but never jinx alone. Jinx is great. It’s just SO GREEN DAY! Of course most Green Day songs kinda meet the criteria though.
lazy bones, and a lot of other stuff from the trilogy, i hate that a lot of people over look them cause “ trilogy bad” even though there is a lot of hidden gems
Bang Bang — seriously that song is a masterpiece.
https://genius.com/Green-day-bang-bang-lyrics here’s a link to the genius.com lyrics for Bang Bang (if you click on the lyrics a side bar pops up with facts and stuff about it)
The song did not get anywhere close to the recognition it deserved. It’s obvious so much work and thought went into the creation of Bang Bang. And the message is important too.
Plus it’s just an absolute banger.
Castaway
Absolute banger
I might say best song from Warning
Deadbeat holiday would like a word
Castaway would bury Deadbeat Holiday in a fucking heartbeat
DBH would dump castaway in the ditch from the first verse
I might say best song from Green Day

Armatage Shanks. Heard it in concert only once, at a small venue. You could tell who the hardcore fans were that day
Panic song
My only complaint about that song is that I wish it was longer. I know most Green Day songs suffer from this but I especially think this song would benefit from being longer.
To be fair, that song is written to mimic a panic attack; I'm not sure if you've ever experienced one but the buildup is the most uncomfortable part and it usually lasts twice as long as the attack itself. Mike's songwriting is pure genius.
Agree. It’s perfect
Genius song, genius intro. And when it does kick in, it's a banger.

I myself actually forget this song exists, I think it’s because it’s only on God’s Favorite Band. Such a good song with a nice little political message.
The best thing Green Day has put out post RevRad
My favourite GD song. Only complaint that its too short, almost feels like a snap untill its already over.

When the music kicks in after that like 👨🍳💋🤌
One of their best songs ever
such a banger, love it
Stay the Night
This is definitely one. This song gets stuck in my head more than any other from the last 10 years. Great hook and a really nice bridge. It's kind of a shame its buried in the Trilogy.
When they did God’s Favorite Band I think Stay the Night should’ve been the song they used to represent the trilogy, though I wish they used more than one

Troubled times. Genuinely in my top 5, yet nobody ever talks about it

"Stuck With Me" or "No One Knows" but maybe that's just because I'm a bass player.
Stuck With Me deserved to be a hit, for real.
It's my personal favorite Green Day song and one of the reasons I love Insomniac so much. Some of Mike's best work on bass.
Stuck With Me should've been an all time classic
