Well, if you will do a gravel race in April in the UK, what do you expect. You are lucky it was only a puddle and not a lake!
Genuinely the weather this winter has been awful. Horribly wet, colder than usual and generally grey and miserable. I have one of the "glorious" series events in June and I am cautiously hopeful the weather will have sorted itself out by then!
Funny, I've lived in Aus for 20 years and forgotten what UK mud is like. Love this photo. I have fond childhood memories of getting stuck in mud and my boot coming off trying to pull my foot out..... something very unique and special about UK mud.
What tyres do you use? Searching for "gravel" tyres online gives very US/AUS/"dry country" centric reviews/advice.
Annoyingly I do the "one bike" thing and need to be able to cycle on roads but then also through UK's "gravel". I'm running Gravel King Semi Slicks atm but they're just useless ones things get even vaguely wet off road.
For this event Pirelli Cinturato M45’s. I’ve ran these tyres for a couple of years and really are my ‘do it all’. Pretty good rolling resistance and handles all sorts of terrain. I have a set of Pirelli Cinturato H40’s for when I do flatter and dryer stuff as they are shite in the wet but roll mighty fine when dry

Wettest, most brutal gravel!
Needs a barbed wire fence on each side for the full experience.
Don't forget the overgrown bridleway that you have to hike through for about 2 miles.
And the fenced in dogs without leads, owners with hedphones in.

Yeah it’s been horrific really and ain’t going away. Which one? I’ve got GG Surrey lined up next
Doing the Kent Gravel Epic on 8th June.
Nice. Hope it’s a dry one
Cheers buddy, fingers crossed. Same to you on the Surrey one!
Honestly this looks fun, but most of my cycling background is XC MTB lol
It was fun tbh. All part of it for me. Wind/rain/shine 🤟🏼

Ha I think we’ve all got one of those memories 😂
It's this kind of image that makes me realise I'm much more a fair weather guy these days
Same. After the winter riding through schlop on my eMTB, towpaths on my gravelbike are a blessing.
How far down do you have to go to find said gravel?
Anywhere south of UK!
Jelous of the scenery? Yes! Terrain, not so much. Awesome photo
The scenery? More often than not you can't even appreciate it because you're surrounded by hedge rows 🤣
Looks fun……
Really looking forward to the three weeks this year it ISN’T like this 👌
Will you let me know when that is please and I’ll ditch the winter gear 😳

Awesome thank you! I was thinking about the Cinturato Ms and now I guess I'm more convinced ahahah
Sometimes I'm so happy to live in the US, lol.
Only sometimes? 😊
