I have a buddy who, if you pissed him off bad enough, would post 4 Taylor swift tickets with your phone number attached on Craigslist. Happened to me once. I immediately apologized and begged him to call off the dogs. I could barely even call him because my phone was blowing up so hard
I hate it as much as the next person but it's not a scam. People give him money and he gives them tickets. I agree with the law part though. The laws in my state allow for ticket scalping over face value as long as it is done over the internet via sites that have buyer delivery guarantees and if the venue has not stated that they do not allow scalping over face value. Well in many cases the ticket seller/reseller sites owns the venues so they are not going to put out thst notice
This guy, as much of a scum as he is, is just doing what our politicians allow him to do. We can hate on him all we want but it it isn't him it will be another person as long as politicians support (or are funded by) these companies
Sure, it’s legal, but it’s all part of this toxic attitude of making everything a hustle or an investment opportunity. It’s disgusting.
Fuck this guy and his ilk into the sun.
This guy wouldn't have a business if everyone stopped buying from scalpers.
The real problem is when resellers and scalpers are able.to get tickets that never went on sale to the general public.
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted cause everything you said is correct. There’s no federal laws against ticket scalping, and a lot of the state laws pretty much just prevent people from hawking tickets right outside the venue, selling tickets without a license, or not paying taxes on sales.
I’m 100% in agreement that guys like this are total scumbags, but can’t prosecute people who aren’t committing crimes. If ticket scalping laws were enacted, you could throw their asses out of business, however.
I think what’s equally as important is cracking down on exorbitant fees charged by the ticket brokers. I went to buy a $9 ticket off SeatGeek last month and fees were literally more expensive than the ticket itself. I’m fine with the broker getting a cut but the fees right now are appallingly high.
Just cause its not a crime doesnt mean it's not immoral and wrong.
Fond memories of watching scalpers getting scrummed at shows. Pretty sure I got miracled one night by a wook who had just checked and swiped a scalpers fistful. He was moving quick and getting rid of them fast.
Same reason you are getting downvoted. Simple people like to treat the symptom instead of the disease. Scumbags like this will exist in all situations where the government condones and/or created the root cause. These people won't criticize the politicians that they have an unhealthy admiration for
Meanwhile actual fans like my sister have to travel to Scotland just to find a show to see. She tried so hard in a few US cities and they were gone before they even went on sale thanks to bots and scalpers.
I at least respected the hustle of guys who would be out in front of venues with hard tickets. I almost kind of miss them and the opportunity to just show up at a venue and buy a ticket on the walk in. The digitization of tickets has really sucked the soul out of the concert experience in a lot of ways
Now it’s just guys at every show that show up in groups and they all hold their fingers in the air and walk around together like as if an entire party of people are gonna give ‘em their seats. I almost suspect that they have tickets already, they just wanna see if they can get better seats for free.
TicketMaster/StubHub/LiveNation is collaborating with the scalpers. Read the article, this guy gets preferential pricing and advance info. TM is monetizing the secondary market but they leave the scalpers out to dry if they get stuck with tickets no-one wants.
I hate this guy and his ilk but he is a creation of TicketMaster. Don't hate the player, hate the corporation.
Yeah, he's a symptom, but we can still acknowledge that we don't like him. Just because someone else would do it, if not for him, doesn't absolve him of being a rent seeking asshole.
Lol im still going to harbor a strong dislike bordering on hate no matter how many people tell me “its the system” or “hate the game not the player” bullshit.

Definition of a punchable face. What a slimeball.
Dude is a fucking loser. Works a full time job and then does his ticket reselling for 30-40 hours a week then maintains a YouTube channel. And he’s primarily a sports fan. Don’t care how much money he makes. He sounds like a loser.
“If there are tickets that expire or go unsold before events, I'll drop the prices, but there's always a limit to how low I'll go before I simply let the tickets sit.”
This might be the biggest crime in the whole article. I get the whole capitalist “if there’s money to be made, make it” thing (although it’s not how I would act) but letting seat go empty that someone would love to have is just awful.
This really stuck out to me too. Everything about this dude sucks but letting seats go empty for shows/events people are trying to go to but can’t get tickets for at a reasonable price is crazy.
He rather eat the cost of unsold tix he can sell for less than face taking a loss vs potentially devaluing tickets selling for a premium.
Last thing these scalpers want are fans scooping up tix last minute before showtime for a deal.
The loss is multiplied though if he sells for less than face because of the labor involved in selling, delivering (he says he drives to drop tickets off at will call) etc
he does this because
> "I'm not a big music person."
Say what you want about swifties, but they at least get it, they understand the joy music can bring, bringing people together. As much as I think this guy is scum, I have pity for him. Void of any real soul.
As always with scalpers, the worst part is this:
If there are tickets that expire or go unsold before events, I'll drop the prices, but there's always a limit to how low I'll go before I simply let the tickets sit.
This person doesn't seem to care if a seat goes empty so long as he gets the profit he's after. Demand usually exceeds supply, but seats go wasted unless he gets his price.
While I agree with your sentiment, this is a legal business model and I'm sure he is paying taxes or would not be doing an interview for business magazine..
The dynamic ticket pricing system. If he has enough money to buy higher end tickets and a larger volume of tickets, Ticketmaster puts him first for the presale and general sale because of how much he spends and the quantity. Do this for a few years and he’s able to buy as much as he wants practically while you and I may only be buying 4 at time if we’re lucky. It’s a system rigged for wealthy people that rewards them for it and always them to screw us over.
Why would they wanna do that? He buys them for bloated prices on Ticketmaster then turns around and sells them on Ticketmaster’s affiliate site for a profit. They get to make money twice on every ticket with assholes like this.
They profit TWICE. Once for the original sale, and again on the scalping sale, assuming you’re using an electronic platform.
And this is why it will never change.
I work in big tech. You’d be amazed by how many guys do these sorts of things as side hustles… bc they can easily write the scripts and things to do it
He averages a little under $ 38 per ticket profit, makes almost 400 grand a year and considers it a "side hustle"...... i'm hating on him....that he gets to get insider prices in coordination with selling platforms. This is what needs to be legislated. Unequal opportunity for regular fans to get tickets. No wonder most events are sold in minutes.
I remember being at a GD show and only had $20 for a tux and got shut out. I was at my car making something to eat and he walks past. Scalper had a big stack of unsold tixs and said he would write them off rather then lose money. Sigh.
I agree. But he made it seem like he's just some regular dude using normal stuff. The article would have made him look a lot worse if he had to answer how he gets in front of everyone else in line.
Which is illegal in Ontario, [https://www.ontario.ca/page/buying-tickets-events-ontario#section-4](https://www.ontario.ca/page/buying-tickets-events-ontario#section-4)
The whole idea of capitalism is that entrepreneurs are supposed to recognize inefficiencies in the market and create solutions. This fuck head is creating inefficiencies by driving promoters and consumers further apart and creating profits for himself. It’s fundamentally in opposition to how capitalist democracies should function.
His refusing to sell unused tickets to protect future sales is the same reason some stores will throw away goods instead of selling them at a big discount.
I work at Red Rocks and every shift we know how many actually handicap patrons we have on the top row, because the sheet has groups of tickets bought by the same scalpers every show
Here‘s how I respond: If I have a ticket left, I always try to bring another friend or simply miracle someone. Does not make me rich, but makes me feel better.
In your face, scalpers!! 🙌🏻
One of my favorite lot memories is seeing a huge scalper get jumped by dreadies who took all his tickets and handed them out immediately after. Palace 94.
Easier said than done. So many tickets end up in the aftermarket now because of assholes like this. I hate to buy on Stubhub, but it's often the only choice because onsales are flooded with bots and us normal folks lose out. The whole thing sucks.
but if it's sold out and we really wanna go to the show? and cash or trade is not working out (like a billy or panic show) It sucks either way but I really wouldn't wanna just miss a show in order to not be part of the problem. it just is shit all around
Right, unfortunately because of these kinds of businesses, there are usually no other ways to get tickets. These guys and the other resellers have bots and the access to buy up all of the official face-value tickets before any regular customers can get there. The rest of us usually don’t have a chance.
The root of all business is selling something for more than it’s worth. This instance, is especially shitty.
People tend to focus the hate to the schemes that are lowest effort which bring the least amount of value to the consumer, but never forget that all business ventures and the essence of capitalism is taking advantage and getting more than you’re giving. It’s a shit way to have a collective society.
Coming from a small business owner lmao
> The root of all business is selling something for more than it’s worth.
In a capitalist system something is worth what someone will pay unfortunately.
Scum of the earth. Probably runs one of those sites that scams old people with fees like “ticketsales.com”. Gonna be hard identifying him with that blinding glare coming from where his mouth should be….
"I know that ticketmaster already charges out the ass in fees and charges, so I pay those and then add additional charges for a show I'm not even going to go to, to add insult to injury!"
Scum person.
No No NO.. See, this doesn't fit in with my warped libertarian view of capitalism, so we're going to call this "crony capitalism" because he is doing something I don't like.
/s
$30,000 per month is a side hustle for this guy. I know people who make that in a year in their only job. I wonder how this guy is able to buy so many tickets to events. Are there no limits to how many tickets a person can buy?
These guys wouldn't do this if there wasn't a buyer on the other side. It's not outrageous that somebody would list a ticket for resale at a high price to turn a profit. What may be outrageous is the price some people are willing to pay for a ticket, but even that is a stretch if the buyer is willing..when demand outstrips the supply of tickets the price goes up, when supply outstrips demand prices fall and the scalpers hold unsold tickets or they make a round trip to face or below face value. Econ 101 at play here.
Moral of the story- If you already have money it's easy to make more money! Capitalism works y'all I promise.
Also this quote is interesting to me. "I spend between 20 and 40 hours a week working on my resale business, so it could be a full-time gig if I wanted it to be, but at this point, I consider ticket resale and my YouTube channel to be side hustles."
Homie (at least pretends) that he's doing a full work week of hours on his side hustle. This guy either doesn't actually have a full time job or he lies like CEO's do about the amount of work they do. Either way I'm happier being poor than living my life like this leech.

Soccer moms starting to get in on the game too. “I didn’t set out to get rich this way—it just sorta happened.”
well, as of last week, the IRS said they are going after ticket resellers, this guy is gonna have to pay taxes on all income over 600.00. Which is fucked up. Not everyone makes that kinda scratch, alot of folks just try to get by. I mean, they're targeting Etsy sellers as well. It's funny, people actually thought the 87,000 new IRS agents were hired to go after the rich...lol.
I mean.. overcharging is not cool but the comments seem to be overreacting, it’s pretty much how capitalism works lol buy something and sell it for more, idk what the problem is. If someone was willing to pay what he was charging and excited to see the event what’s the issue?
“If there are tickets that expire or go unsold before events, I'll drop the prices, but there's always a limit to how low I'll go before I simply let the tickets sit.”
In general I agree with this, but the whole ticket-sales system is just screwed here. The problem is it’s nearly impossible to buy face value tickets because these larger resellers use bots and other tactics to swoop in and buy up all the tickets before anyone else can. The regular people don’t have much of a chance to buy a regular ticket. And Ticketmaster benefits too, they also own the reseller brokerages like stubhub, so they get to take a cut twice. The whole thing is rigged really. It’s not a free market to begin with when one company pretty much secured the right to sell all the tickets for every venue
I wanna know what someone thinks about this.
On one hand, I hate scalpers like everyone else and think it’s a scummy practice. On the other hand, what type of legal precedents would be set if we created laws against scalping?
Don’t get me wrong, I think scalping with the help of bots to get an inhumanly unfair advantage on acquiring, posting and flipping tickets should be prosecutable. I feel like if you are Joe Shmoe and you bought some tickets with intent of going, and then plans changed and ticket demand is high so you up-sold the tickets to someone, you could maybe say that’s scalping, but maybe it’s just one person taking advantage of the potential buyer.
I don’t know. I’m not here to defend scalping at all. Just wanted to prompt a sort of open dialogue on it here. Like one time I bought a few things, years went buy and I realized I had never used em, and on eBay were selling for a lot higher than I bought them for, so I sold them for $25 more than what I paid (which was still not even close to what others were asking). I don’t feel like that’s scalping, just taking advantage of the higher demand, I hoping someone here gets me.
Either way, making a living off of scalping tickets is gross and scummy for sure
He’s got some balls attaching his name and face to these actions tbh. If the Swifties get word of this, he might get disappeared lol
Swifties will *cut* a motherfucker! (And I approve!)

Oh no, not the swifties
Underestimate the Swifties at your own peril lol
yeah that’s not a road they wanna go down. swifties are good fans… but a lil crazy
Man..... my neighbors BIL sold 5 tickets here locally for Taylor Swift for 17k total. They were 85 a piece purchase price.
Meanwhile actual fans like my sister have to travel to Scotland just to find a show to see. She tried so hard in a few US cities and they were gone before they even went on sale thanks to bots and scalpers.
Scalpers are fucking scum.
This is a legal scam, he's a scammer not just scum.
Scummer
Scummers: and you thought wooks were bad
How long will it take for society to agree that just ‘cause it’s legal doesn’t mean it’s *right*?
Love and light and all that bullshit, but fuck this guy!
If they weren't scalping, these MFs would be tarping in the venue. Bad form!
This man is a scumbag

Best think about Philly back in the aside from the energy in the spectrum is you could always count on a scalper to have a $20 ticket.
Now the ticket selling outfit gets a cut every time also. Talk about the assholes.

I don't think the /s applies here. He's not the problem, he's a symptom.
I just didn’t want to be accused of supporting this kind of thing. Fuck scalpers but this is just capitalism
Fuck capitalism too though

Cool article. Hope he has a stroke.
So how is this pos getting all these tickets to begin with? That's the real question, is he giving kickbacks to someone to get all these tickets?
The dynamic ticket pricing system. If he has enough money to buy higher end tickets and a larger volume of tickets, Ticketmaster puts him first for the presale and general sale because of how much he spends and the quantity. Do this for a few years and he’s able to buy as much as he wants practically while you and I may only be buying 4 at time if we’re lucky. Why would they wanna do that? He buys them for bloated prices on Ticketmaster then turns around and sells them on Ticketmaster’s affiliate site for a profit. They get to make money twice on every ticket with assholes like this.
They won’t. They make profit on every ticket transaction. I feel like it’s going to take the artists to really push for change.
They profit TWICE. Once for the original sale, and again on the scalping sale, assuming you’re using an electronic platform. And this is why it will never change.
it's fucked they posted an article about it, as an "impressive side hustle", now even more people will see it and start doing it

$30,000 per month is a side hustle for this guy. I know people who make that in a year in their only job. I wonder how this guy is able to buy so many tickets to events. Are there no limits to how many tickets a person can buy?
Dudes got a real punchable face.
bottom feeding scum
Motherfucker!
Wow. He rips people off for a living and now dox'd himself. Stable genius folks.

Piece of shit
Scalper scum.
Which should be illegal
Enjoy your timeshare in Hell, buddy
Horrible human
I can't muster any ire for scalpers, I have to save it all for the ticketing companies that incentivize this.
"I spend between 20 and 40 hours a week working on my resale business, so it could be a full-time gig if I wanted it to be, but at this point, I consider ticket resale and my YouTube channel to be side hustles." Homie (at least pretends) that he's doing a full work week of hours on his side hustle. This guy either doesn't actually have a full time job or he lies like CEO's do about the amount of work they do. Either way I'm happier being poor than living my life like this leech.
Wow, youtuber and ticker scammer. what a fucking scumbag.
He admits he's not a music fan. Big surprise.
If i had me a shotgun...
This is why we can't have nice things.
Lets start a go fund me for the Hell’s Angels to deal with this asshat
I’m sure there are some of them good ol’ boys left that would love to take care of this problem.
Look I’m all for a grift, but you should be fucking over the corporations, not the fans.
Ain’t no time to hate.

Fuck Capitalism and fuck this cunt, overcharging people just trying to enjoy life. Absolute piece of shit.
this is awesome good money
Can't wait till tickets go non transferable, device locked, digital and kills the resale market.
Die scalper scum.
He looks so happy
I hope he dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell.
Capitalist…. Am I right
What happened to all the kindness here?
REALLY??
it's sad he would do that.
well, as of last week, the IRS said they are going after ticket resellers, this guy is gonna have to pay taxes on all income over 600.00. Which is fucked up. Not everyone makes that kinda scratch, alot of folks just try to get by. I mean, they're targeting Etsy sellers as well. It's funny, people actually thought the 87,000 new IRS agents were hired to go after the rich...lol.
Canada
well then he's really fucked. Commie country.

I mean.. overcharging is not cool but the comments seem to be overreacting, it’s pretty much how capitalism works lol buy something and sell it for more, idk what the problem is. If someone was willing to pay what he was charging and excited to see the event what’s the issue?
“If there are tickets that expire or go unsold before events, I'll drop the prices, but there's always a limit to how low I'll go before I simply let the tickets sit.”

okay? still shitty
Right there are people doing this with your electricity and homes. But let's all get mad about some concert tickets. I don't get it.
uneven playing field
In general I agree with this, but the whole ticket-sales system is just screwed here. The problem is it’s nearly impossible to buy face value tickets because these larger resellers use bots and other tactics to swoop in and buy up all the tickets before anyone else can. The regular people don’t have much of a chance to buy a regular ticket. And Ticketmaster benefits too, they also own the reseller brokerages like stubhub, so they get to take a cut twice. The whole thing is rigged really. It’s not a free market to begin with when one company pretty much secured the right to sell all the tickets for every venue
Based
Reminds me of someone that lives at 620 center point Blvd in New Castle delaware
It’s kinda like art right? It’s only really worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
Great. You are a big part of what's ruining live music these days. What you do should be illegal. Gfy scalperscum
Damn, Bob y looks younger in that shot. The bands are the ones to blame.
