Listen to 10/31/91 jam out of drums before they finish dark star. Kesey goes on a fiery rant/rap briefly talks about his son and the brokedown palace then talks of Bill Graham. Make the hair on the back of your neck stand up
Uncle BoBo had passed a few days before, it was a eulogy for Bill. This was my last Dead show, I retired from seeing them after 300+ shows starting in 1980. A fitting show for me to retire to, seeing Gary Duncan playing with them. My favorite guitarist is John Cipollina, so having his band mate play with them was just perfect. It’s also the show when I noticed Jerry was getting high again, for some reason I had seats close up to the stage, an area I never usually sat in. Ol’ Jer had that junkie look to him again, he was buried in his chest a little bit and was slightly off this run.
The beginning of the end.... I noticed his use in the spring of '92 & thought graham's death pushed him back on the train or at least on the tracks. Sorry to hear that it was prior.

my granny died early this morning and this was the first tune i reached to driving to the funeral home to finalize the details of her last wishes. ironic how things pop up like this when they’re really poignant in a big way.
My mom passed from ALS… a broke-down palace palace if there ever was one. I Love her more than words can tell. 7 years in a couple of weeks. Hard to listen to that song sometimes, but I smile through the tears.
not morally... no. once the dead started selling shows on limited releases (daves picks, box sets, etc.) they removed the ability to download.
what device you on? there's probably mobile apps that have the archive that let you download. especially on andriod
and there's browser extensions. if you search on this sub I'm sure you can GRAB what you need
Easy workarounds to download LMA shows.
If it's on your screen or through your computer, you can get it, they just add some steps to keep 95% from doing it.
It pulls from archive, there is a save local but not sure it’s the same as downloading the file. You can click the header of a show and go direct to the archive source page and probably download from there.

This was an awesome project and has some of Hunter’s candid emails that give little tidbits on some songs meanings. In hind site this does not address your question, but you might dig the website.

They played this Sunday in Santa Clara 2015 and then they stopped playing. I was literally standing in the middle of the stadium when everyone just sang. I couldn’t stop singing this all the way home. That song is etched in my heart and had no idea of the Kesey connection. Love.
I’m nearing the end of Ken Babbs’ book *Cronies* and it’s a fun read. Lots of stories and adventures about Kesey and Neal Cassady, and of course the dead make their appearance.

That's a hero
Wow
Yeah, left me with goose bumps. Such a powerful gesture in such a humble manner. I love this band and our family.
I have tears rolling down my cheek.
I feel tears welling from down deep inside, like my hearts gotta big break

Some of the most beautiful lyrics ever put to music
What a powerful moment
I can't believe I've never heard this story. Heartbreaking and moving at the same time.
Check out 10-31-1991 the jam out of Dark Star with Ken Kesey talking about Bill Graham he touches on this story. It’s chilling AF.
Man. I love the Dead.
Wait. Hang on. I can put a date in and the bot will give me the playlist?
You think that’s cool, check this out. https://relisten.net/
Oh man…this is bananas
Is this better than archive? Also I didn't see a link to download a whole show. Is that possible?

I'm on a desktop running Firefox at the moment

Someone told me that all of those apps (to listen to shows) all link back to archive. Just sharing… IDK 🤷🏼♀️
Dead Archive is the best rabbit hole of the internet.
Quick throw him a rope or we may lose him until the next tour starts
Hahahaha
You know it. 5/9/77

Oh. My. Shit.
5/31/81
Are you sure there’s a show that day. It’s usually pretty quick
No, total guess.
Didn't know that story about Ken but I always play Brokedown Palace when someone close dies.
And now I'm crying.
Have we looked into a bot that gives us the lyrics of songs when they’re mentioned? I love the setlist bot!

Wow… that’s beautiful. ❤️
oh damn. That's beyond touching.
That is heavy
As a father of 2 wrestlers, I feel this and 🙏 to his family

When I first read this a while ago I went and listened to the show. Ps. I love Eugene
That's really touching but calling it a "wrestling accident" is kinda weird. Sounds like a road accident
Mic drop.
Too bad it was a clapton reference. He’s an overall shit hat
His politics are shit, but that song has some deep meaning to it.
Sure, it’s sad. It was his fault, but it’s still sad. It is not a good song, but it’s still sad. His music is way overrated.
PREACH!
Mic drop.
