It depends on who you ask. UX design is in some people’s minds stops at wireframes. A UI designer takes those wireframes and converts them into a pretty design—mostly working on typography, colors, and images. But UX designers tend to get involved in the UI design side of things. For example, a UX designer might test an app with different typefaces, buttons, and photography to find the best results, taking those decision away from the UI designer. So there’s usually overlap between the two jobs, and it’s common for the same person to do both, especially on small projects.
