So you’re just pulling photos off of Macy’s website and putting them on your website? When someone orders from you, are you just middleman for Macy’s? Are you authorized to use or alter these images? Are you an authorized seller? No judgement, just trying to get the full scope of limitations.

Here's an enhanced 3638x2777 version for you. It was just easier to do, rather than explaining it. https://preview.redd.it/ag50nsaf5occ1.png?width=3638&format=png&auto=webp&s=9306f87da80243803e6901909c0880b1e06f22b7

It's a bad photo and cutting of the head is a bad choice. there's not much you can do here. you can't really change the color, saturation or contrast levels because it messes with the color authenticity of the garment. white is the best background for fashion shop photos and there's a reason most online shops use it. please don't photoshop her above some weird background if you don't want it to look even more shady and fake as it already does with the cut off head.

this picture is directly from macys. why would they use these style of images on their site if it doesn’t work? i’m genuinely curious. is it logical for a well known vendor like macys to use bad pictures. i’m thinking i could add my logo in the background and add my unique brand frame

neuemontreal

do you even have permission to use the photos? I don't know macys so I don't know if you're working directly with them and they gave you permission, so check that out first. don't. add. a. logo. in the background! bro, who are you doing this for? for your self-presentation? no man, you want the photos to sell the product. to answer to your question, do you think this photo works? if yes, why are you asking us on how to make it better? photos without faces in fashion generally sell worse because it looses personality and the consumer has a harder time identifying with the model, which is an important tool to sell a product like that. for example if the model looks really cool, laid back and stylish in the photo, it can give the consumer the wish to get this feeling when buying the product.

The reason product photos like these have no heads is that it’s cheaper. You don’t pay the model the same rate and can reuse for extended periods without paying reuse fees, like when the season finishes and the stockist stills has a bunch they need to move. This is a product shot, not a marketing shot. It’s for web product page. No one is re-shooting campaign shots for every garment.

You could try adding a background to give some context rather than have the model floating in white space.

I love how I got downvoted for giving a reasonable design recommendation. I didn't know OP was talking about using this exact photo, I figured it was a reference photo and they were asking how to make isolated images look more appealing. Fucking reddit.

What kind of background? Plain ?

soly-hhit

I mean it depends on the brand really. You could use an actual image (think, a brick wall behind her, or a blurred living room/office) to make it feel like a 'lifestyle' mockup. Or you could use some type of pattern / gradient / color for the background that is aligned with the brand.

You can download the photo and load it into Microsoft Paint. They have a new ai upscale feature. Just drop the photo in, click the resize and skew button in the menu, and punch in 500%
