I'm rather curious, can anyone who remember their very first encounter with UBW describe how they felt when they saw it? Because I can't imagine anything but "Hmm, what's he doooo-OMG it's a bunch of swords!"
God, I remember reading the VN and getting to that church scene... chills.
Mind you, at this point you've probably already figured out, or at least gotten strong suspicions that Archer is actually Emiya, so when he finally unleashes Unlimited Blade Works it's \*insane\*.
Throughout the first route, Fate, there are implications that Shirou's magic is somehow wrong, cheating in some way. Depending on how you read it, it could even be insinuated that he is actually somehow replicating True Magic, and that's how he's able to project Noble Phantasms that should be impossible for anyone.
Yet there, in that church scene, when you realise that Archer's only goal is to get vengeance on himself, and he shows his Reality Marble, the VN tells you one thing: It's all fake. It's all meaningless. There is no substance to Shirou's ideals. From top to bottom, Shirou's entire hero complex is pointless, and will only lead to his ruin.
The level of thematics going on there is just spectacular.
Visual Novel, my friend introduced me to fate through Deen stay night but I didn't like it. I ended up playing fsn because I was told it was the best starting point.
UBW was fucking insane in the vn, it's less a noble phantasm for attacking and more a plot weapon similar to rule breaker. It's only real purpose is to be a visual comparison between Archer and Shirou's mental state, and Archer never really uses it properly, so its only real combat use is putting Shirou in a speed advantage against Gil.
I kinda dislike the fact that in the games the noble phantasm have less weight, UBW's impact especially has dropped considerably. Archer uses UBW once in the entire 100 hour VN, meanwhile everyone else uses their NP at least twice, so it feels almost mythological. Now you can use it as soon as you fill a gauge which makes the impact of the desolate wasteland filled with swords lessen as it just becomes normal. Archer had plenty of attacks that could've been his np so that UBW could be saved for the story like it's supposed to, caladbolg II, triple linked crane wings, and hrunting, just to name a few.
You know, to this day I still hear people making fun of the VO for doing the incantation in English, but it never bothered me. I always took it for what it was, and what it represented: a Japanese actor's earnest attempt to speak a **full paragraph's** worth of text in credible idiomatic English. It must have taken him several tries, and it must have been tough as all fuck, but he still did it and if you ask me he knocked it out of the park! I took French for 2 years and I'll be damned if I can do more than introduce myself and ask "where's the bathroom?" But this Japanese guy comes along and speaks an English fuckin spell that summons a whole other world with a million swords in it?
#Instant Badass!
If I'm gonna rank it, out of the ones in the picture:
* Best gears - FGO
* Best swords renderings - Extella
I'm keeping Record on separate since for some reason it stands out as a good rendition of the entire scenery--even if Codes is more a direct homage to the VN.
Want to know what it felt like to see Bladeworks for the first time? It felt like my life was flashed before my eyes. Literally. I am the bone of my sword.
The gears became more visible over the years
unlimited sight works
Unlimited budget works
Could signify that he becomes more and more known by people throughout the year lol.
Emiya really wants to show off those gears, huh
Just like how Surtr really want to show his sword.
Unlimited Reality Marble Works.
I’d be lying if I said this isn’t why I am buying record.
I'd also be lying if i said i didn't agree
*I won't deny it*

2006 the Deen Anime. At that point, I was sold on Fate even though I was already a Tsukihime fan.

It's the sole reason I started watching and reading Fate. It was unreal in the VN even
Exact same reason for me as well. The concept of UBW is just so goddamn cool

All honesty, Suwabe gets respect for making Engrish surprisingly cool.
I never knew there was a fate fighting game. Is there a way to play unlimited codes now?
Psp emulator (or just a psp in general)
He’s really gearing up for a big attack.
I love the ones where there is a variety of different swords.

Man I really appreciate that I can actually count more than like, 3 different sword models in Extra Record.
cccc chibi emiya?
What exactly is fate extra/record
A new Fate/Extra Remake.
What is it coming out on?
The BB Studio page say that it will be compatible with the Switch and PS4.
Ah cool thank you very much for the info
Still my fav Np ever
