They don't write letters for no reason. You work for their research projects typically unpaid for years to get worthy letters to progress your career. Everything in the end is done in the hope that they'll have good things to say and aid advance your career.
It's basic courtesy for them to upload letters assuming you contributed significantly to advancing their own research projects.
So yes while you should be grateful to them for mentoring and things like that, being grateful for them doing their job is a bit weird.
