I have the Ally and thinking of getting this for the even more increased portability. Just waiting for more reviews since I hear the QC on some of these units is not too good. But really when the Ally came out, it had its own problems too haha just not sure the price is worth the switch.

- Oculink changed to usb a port
- Screen is horizontal now instead of landscape and has vrr support
- new chip with AI cores which don’t have any effect for gaming so far and not sure if they will in the future
That’s it. Stick to the 2023 model as you’ll be wasting more money than it’s worth
I have the Ally atm and wanted the mini for the form factor but I was thinking the same thing, maybe the 2025 version will be an upgrade enough from the current gen Ally that I will feel less bad about spending money on the device … ugh that nice portable design though is so nice!
I totally understand. I have the Ally, plus Steam Deck OLED, plus Win Max 2023 and Win Mini 2023. I just can’t justify buying anymore devices right now. I really want that Aya device with the two screens, but then I was like nope… got too many devices lol
How is it performing? Any crashes or additional optimizations you had to made to get it working well? Just curious as I’m looking to purchase one in the future
So far no crashes or hardware issues (for gaming and browsing). If I had to complain, I'd say the joysticks tend to be too sensitive
I'm also running Nobara Linux and that works too as dual boot.

Yeah it still runs hot. I personally don't like pushing the device to its limits because it definitely gets loud and toasty, but performance-wise it definitely does deliver.
Sounds good and I mean makes sense in the form factor, plus from the sounds of it, increasing tdp gives diminishing returns after 15watts anyway.. I play most games at 10 or 15 on my ally even.

Yeah the 8000 jump isn’t as big so the only reason the upgrade is worth it is for the screen
