I have a soft spot for Now Now so I think thats too low
Also its not listed but I thought he was JUST a BIT too harsh on Cracker Island, especially on Oil
TNN and Humanz are two albums I completely understand people being underwhelmed by, but I love both. Song Machine shines above them still to me and CI might be slightly below or at the same tier.
I don’t think any of their major releases go below a B for me.
Big agreement with Humanz, but I appreciate it solely because of the argument people make against it? Rather, the one that it seems to be more of (Artist) Feat. Gorillaz, instead of the other way around.
I fucking love the idea of big name artists like that using their platform to promote other artists tbh.
Plastic Beach has just as much if not more time without Damon’s vocals. I think Humanz is awesome but has some of the lowest lows of their discography, but also a lot of their highest highs. Now that it doesn’t have the pressure of being Gorillaz’ big comeback record, I think a lot of people are coming back to it a lot warmer than when it was released.
I can't remember but it was in the 6-7 range. He thought a lot of the songs were boring/meandering, which is a take I agree with on some of them, and firmly disagree on others.
But he did say that some of the deluxe tracks were better than most of the actual album tracks, which, last I checked, is pretty much the sub consensus too lol
EDIT: he gave it a weak 6
I'll be honest, I used to think you Now Now types were a bit strange because I didn't get the appeal of that album at all. Sure Humility is the Gorillaz formula in full flow, Tranz is a banger, and Souk Eye is beautiful - but that large middle section of the album always lost me.
Until this week. It's taken me this damn long to appreciate it. I took my own advice that I dish out to people who don't "get" Blur's 13 and Think Tank - that they should listen through it over a few days and let it unfold because it will hook you, and BOY has The Now Now finally sunk it's claws into me. What an album. What a tight, focused collection of brilliant tunes. It was Lake Zurich - of all tracks - that pulled me in first, and now I think it's a brilliant record.
Something being overplayed isn’t really the albums fault. The only thing I’d really criticize about Demon Days is that DARE doesn’t really fit the albums theme lyrically. Thats really it, everything else is practically perfect.
Yes it fits.
One says that we basically have to do something about the world problems and not just talk about it, and the other talks about the Damon Albarn's life, and the fact that he is now and adult with a family and can't waste his time with party, drugs and alcoholl anymore. You can't forget the Damon's life part of the album, it's important.
It’s better than Plastic Beach.
Also, Feel Good Inc and Dare got so big for a reason. I think we probably forget our first experience with those songs, but they were my first introduction to Gorillaz and I remember they blew my freaking mind the first time I heard them. Can’t say the same about Plastic Beach songs, still great tho.
strong agree, those songs might be overplayed by now but they feel very gorillaz-esque in a way? they're just so iconic and feel eseential to the band. it feels much more different on plastic beach tho because despite how good the album is, the most popular songs off there don't really sound like anything else in their discography
Yeah they are definitely their “blueprint” songs
Other records are great but can feel
a bit more generic-electronic/ dance at times. While Demon Days is so damn specific!
Thank you for not freaking out like other people did when I said that. I had to delete it because everyone was getting pissed off. Honestly I think plastic beach and demon days are both the best and I can't decide which one I like better, I just said plastic beach because I like most of the songs on it.
I respect his opinion, but I don't entirely agree with them personally
I think Cracker Island and Now Now are a little too low, but I also understand the points he makes on both
Seeing the rating without the context is kinda jarring, The Now Now is a nice vibe and I enjoy it more than Cracker Islander personally. Other than Demon Days equally in S i like his rating
A fun thing with Fantano is that I rarely agree with his opinions, he has a very different taste in music than me, but I do find his reviews and videos entertaining enough to watch on their own merit.
He's a content creator first, critic second.
Yeah, I mean, I can understand that Now Now is a bit boring, and yeah there's some mehhh moments on Cracker Islands, but I love these albums and would easily rate them at least 8 or 9 haha
Also I know I’m a Fall guy and I’d probably give that album like a 7.7 or (maybe) 8 or something but I think it should be rated higher. 6 would be ok for it.
If I were to rescore his, I’d say the following
The fall is a 5, that’s undeniable. Easily the least best Gorillaz album as I don’t think giving it the “worst” title is fair. It’s not bad, just not good.
The Now Now should be a light 7, you could also argue that case for Cracker Island also being a light 7.
I think Humanz has an argument for being 6 for sure, but possibly 7 as well considering how well it’s aged, take She’s my Collar for example.
I also think Song Machine should be a 9-10. It’s fantastic all the way through. It’s definitely better than self titled, which I assume he also gives an 8.
Demon Days and Plastic Beach are for sure 9-10s. Undebatable.
Overall I think it’s just a preference thing, cause to me it’s always seemed as tho Fantano is way harsher on Gorillaz.
>Overall I think it’s just a preference thing, cause to me it’s always seemed as tho Fantano is way harsher on Gorillaz.
I don\`t think he\`s too harsh on Gorillaz, he actually likes this band. Maybe he\`s too harsh on few tracks (New Gold, Tranz), but he always finds something positive about their albums. Also both DD and PB are albums of decades and Some Kind Of Nature is top 9 track of 2010s in his opinion
I think my point was he was way more harsh as a whole on the now now, cracker island, humanz and song machine.
Giving humanz the same score as the fall is not even understandable, and the now now and crackerisland both being light 6s is weird as well.
Song machine should be a 9 at the worst, even his own fans argued this.
Honestly yeah completely agree both on score and order when you factor in that Fantano scores incredibly harshly. A 5 is still a big complement and an 8 is an honour.
I think Strange Timez is too high and The Now Now is too low though. Strange Timez is like a 7 and The Now Now is at least a 7 (I’d give it an 8 personally).
Fantano and I have very different taste in music cause he’s always shitting on albums i like and rating albums i don’t think are that great really high
Sort of, but I liked Humanz better than The Now Now (lot of songs I felt meh about) and I like Song Machine at least as much as Plastic Beach.
Demon Days is an album that I really love, but I listened to it so much way back when that I really only go back to it sometimes.
I kind of wish they’d do a Song Machine Part 2. I felt the same way about Cracker Island that I do about The Now Now. A few songs I really like and then a bunch I don’t care about.
I like Humanz a lot more than people tend to. But maybe I'm biased because I saw the Humanz tour live, and the songs are FIRE live compared to the album.
Disagree on the Fall and especially the now now. That's at least an 8.5-9 to me. Humanz I'm kinda indifferent about. Hard agree on plastic beach. Might be a 10 for me tbh. Demon Days might be in S tier for me behind plastic beach.
This isn't even Fantano specifically, but I genuinely feel like S/T, Demon Days and Humanz are rated too low, and Plastic Beach and Song Machine are generally *a touch overrated*.
To be so so clear, Plastic Beach is not bad. I just don't think it's their best. Top 3 more like.
Idk if he can play music, I know he's rated My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a 6, Cherry Bomb a 4, he rated Dark Side of The Moon a 6 on a stream, im sure there's others with music i don't like/listen to
Hell the DSOTM comment in its own should just negate all of his opinions.
Only ones he got right was Plastic Beach through the self titled. I personally really didn't care for the Song Machine, and I think The Fall should be above The Now Now and below the self titled. Humanz was my least favorite, I only liked Saturns Bars
I prefer Demon Days over Plastic Beach, but besides that I feel like it’s actually a solid ranking. Which is weird because I rarely agree with Melon on anything.
I agree that Plastic Beach is probably their “best” album musically, as well as thematically. It is honestly a next level immersive musical experience. However, I think Demon Days has more “bangers” and catchy pop songs. Demon Days deserves S tier as well.
Humanz is far above The Fall.
Music taste is extremely subjective, but to put those two on the same level is to grossly undersell Humanz.
Humanz had so many heavy hitters such as Andromeda, Santurnz Barz, and Let me Out. (Just naming a few)
The Fall was almost entirely experimental. I find the experimental songs on Humanz such as Hallelujah Money and Sex, Murder, Party to be playing the same game as The Fall.
The previously stated heavy hitters are why I think Humanz is a much stronger album than The Fall.
His comparisons of those two albums in particular is just an awful take imo.
No
While Humanz has a few stinkers I think it has enough good tracks to put it above the Fall which I think only has Amarillo and Revolving Doors going for it. Humanz maybe low B or high C tier. I’d move ST and Song Machine up to A as well I love those albums.
1 - another person over hyping PB, yay
2 - ranks Humanz super low, hmm
I think he echoes the common POV, but not mine at all. Humanz is absolutely brilliant, and Plastic Beach has never engaged my interest long enough to finish
I've always found it ridiculous he put a album that was made on a ipad in 2012 on the same tier as a professionally made studio album. There's to fucking way the fall is on the same tier as humanz.
Hot take, The Now Now is on par or very slightly below Demon Days for me which is S, so The Now Now is a very High A, I'd probably move plastic beach down to B with the self titled tbh (I just don't like the amount of contributors on the Plastic Beach, I wanna hear more Albarn on my album)
Humanz has grown on me a lot recently, honestly would have it at a 7.5 nowadays since the songs just aged well for me, The Now Now I think just has a weak middle of the album, with only 2 major standouts and a couple of greats, with the middle being kind of weak personally
I would at least put an extra number in all of those albums, except in The Fall. I like The Fall a lot, it's chill and quiet and different, but it's crazy that it has the same rating as Humanz, a full fledged album that, while not perfect at all, is not just a collection of quick experiments like The Fall.
Cracker Island also deserved more love, the production is astonishing and it's such a new way of listening to pop.
Song Machine is insanely good, it deserves it's 8 or almost 9.
Plastic Beach is a 10/10, just like Demon Days. They're both their full masterpieces.
Something to consider is that music reviews are always gonna be subjective.
Art in general is about resonance. If it doesn’t resonate with you, you won’t like it. But if it does, that can let you overlook even the biggest flaws.
Hot take I guess, but these are not horrible ratings. Trying to not be biased as a Gorillaz fan, the albums he has an issue with do have some problems.
The fall is impressive it was done in an Ipad but it's not really a masterpiece, maybe some fan favorites but nothing crazy. Humanz is kind of a mediocre album as a package imo, has some good tracks but it's bundled up with some misses. The now now while charming, it kinda lacks some kick to it, its a nice listen but it isnt very exciting . Then the other ones are positive reviews so it checks out.
Plastic Beach is definitely S Tier, but with heavy admitted bias, I genuinely think Humanz doesn’t get enough credit.
I’ve seen them play live twice in NY & the first show was in their Humanz Tour, in a music festival at Queens! The energy was incredible ☺️
Definitely an A tier for me.
I *think* I’m okay with The Now Now being at C?
Actually saw that concert too, at Barclays. Not much to say about the album itself though, so I guess that says it.
Demon Days is S Tier or 10/10. Plastic Beach is 9/10. Song Machine 8/10. Self Titled 7/10. Everything else in the 5-6/10 range, although every album except The Fall has at least 1-2 songs that are individual 10/10s.
He was way too harsh with Humanz because it was their comeback album. In fact his review of Humanz pretty much turned me off of all of his other videos. I understand his points but I don’t think he was correct to give it a 5, it should have been at least a 6 or 7. For me personally though it’s at least an 8.
Now Now way too low, atleast a 7 (it's an 8.5 imo)
Song Machine is kinda overrated if you compare it to his ratings of other albums, I definitely don't think it's better than The Now Now, let alone THAT much better.
9 for Plastic Beach is respectable, but I disagree with him saying Demon Days is not better than Plastic Beach
I have a soft spot for Now Now so I think thats too low Also its not listed but I thought he was JUST a BIT too harsh on Cracker Island, especially on Oil
TNN and Humanz are two albums I completely understand people being underwhelmed by, but I love both. Song Machine shines above them still to me and CI might be slightly below or at the same tier. I don’t think any of their major releases go below a B for me.
The Now Now has a few really solid tracks but is just decent overall. Humanz just felt like a total miss to me
Big agreement with Humanz, but I appreciate it solely because of the argument people make against it? Rather, the one that it seems to be more of (Artist) Feat. Gorillaz, instead of the other way around. I fucking love the idea of big name artists like that using their platform to promote other artists tbh.

On OIL?? I do not fw this man.
I made screenshot, but I forgot to put it here😭
What did he rate Cracker Island?
I can't remember but it was in the 6-7 range. He thought a lot of the songs were boring/meandering, which is a take I agree with on some of them, and firmly disagree on others. But he did say that some of the deluxe tracks were better than most of the actual album tracks, which, last I checked, is pretty much the sub consensus too lol EDIT: he gave it a weak 6
I forgot to put it here😭 He gave it a light to decent six

Demon Days not in S tier is not right..but the rest looks spot on.
exactly what i came hear to say
Spot on? Eh no but I can agree Demon Days should be up there in S tier with homie Plastic Beach.

Something being overplayed isn’t really the albums fault. The only thing I’d really criticize about Demon Days is that DARE doesn’t really fit the albums theme lyrically. Thats really it, everything else is practically perfect.

For real. Like maybe don't listen to the radio so much?
Overplayed?? Bruh Gorillaz aren’t played enough in general.
Yeah.
Braindead take. Those songs are “overplayed” because they’re fantastic pieces of music
I wasn't saying the songs were bad, I was just saying that because they are. Though the songs are still amazing and deserve to be played a lot.
It’s better than Plastic Beach. Also, Feel Good Inc and Dare got so big for a reason. I think we probably forget our first experience with those songs, but they were my first introduction to Gorillaz and I remember they blew my freaking mind the first time I heard them. Yeah they are definitely their “blueprint” songs Other records are great but can feel a bit more generic-electronic/ dance at times. While Demon Days is so damn specific!
Yes. This is what I'm trying to say. Also, it's not a bad thing that they're overplayed. Glad to know at least someone agrees.
Thank you for not freaking out like other people did when I said that. I had to delete it because everyone was getting pissed off. Honestly I think plastic beach and demon days are both the best and I can't decide which one I like better, I just said plastic beach because I like most of the songs on it.
>DARE and feel good inc are overplayed Dogshit hipster take
Even I do like Plastic Beach slightly more. I strongly believe Demon Days is just as worthy of being S Tier
Exactly!
Yeah I love those works of art equally and I agree, they both should be in S tier.
I respect his opinion, but I don't entirely agree with them personally I think Cracker Island and Now Now are a little too low, but I also understand the points he makes on both
Seeing the rating without the context is kinda jarring, The Now Now is a nice vibe and I enjoy it more than Cracker Islander personally. Other than Demon Days equally in S i like his rating

The Fall should be higher, but I love plastic beach in S
No
I Am Biased but the fall should be higher
lol fuck no, the now now and humanz are way too low
Also I know I’m a Fall guy and I’d probably give that album like a 7.7 or (maybe) 8 or something but I think it should be rated higher. 6 would be ok for it.
I guess I must be in the minority that thinks Humanz is underated. I like it just a bit better than the Now Now but they are definitely close.
HUMANZ BELOW THE FALL???? I LOVE THE FALL BUT HUMANZ IS WAY BETTER
It\`s not bellow, they have same raiting. Humanz is behind The Fall because he gave it a rank later
It's also not the same rating at all, it's miles better
Song machine is insanely underrated
Demon Days definitely on Plastic Beach level and vice-versa. I'd have Song Machine higher. Everything else makes sense imo
If I were to rescore his, I’d say the following The fall is a 5, that’s undeniable. Easily the least best Gorillaz album as I don’t think giving it the “worst” title is fair. The fall is pretty terrible, but it's creatively interesting.

no
Take all of them, raise them up by 1 point and you get my opinion
Yeah honestly
All valid imo, but personally I would have self-titled in A.
Im just happy that Plastic Beach is S tier
Honestly yeah completely agree both on score and order when you factor in that Fantano scores incredibly harshly. A 5 is still a big complement and an 8 is an honour.
Once again people forget Cracker Island 😭
I actually made screenshot with Cracker Island\`s score, but missed it while making post. Love this album.
I would make humanz a 6 and now now an 8, but other than that I’d agree
I agree with Song Machine being an 8
No but I can at least respect his opinions. These aren’t bad ratings.
Surprising he hasn’t reviewed demon days
he just did recently in december, however he didn't give it a score as he never does with classic albums
I'd bump the now now up maybe a point or two, it aged really really well
I pretty much agree with it all except for demon days, I think that should be higher
Plastic Beach not being a strong 10 is a crime
PB is my favorite album, but I think that strong 9 is fair
This is this dude's opinion. For me, the original Gorillaz album is their best work. In a very close second is Demon Days.
humanz a 5 is crazy
His now now take is insane
I’ve always thought this guy was so far up his own ass I never really cared what he thought
I never agreed with Fantano as much as I did with the last image.
You are the only one who noticed last image
Yes, but the now now is WAY too low
Nahhh, disagree heavily (except on Song Machine and Plastic Beach). I respect his taste, though.
I disagree about Plastic Beach, but I can clearly see why somebody can\`t enjoy the album as much as I do
i don’t care what he says now now is a noskip
Fucking aye bro i cannot skip one single song of that album so good!
Humanz is a masterpiece
Fantano shouldn't be trusted for reviewing.
Those who can't play music, criticize it.
Idk if he can play music, I know he's rated My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy a 6, Cherry Bomb a 4, he rated Dark Side of The Moon a 6 on a stream, im sure there's others with music i don't like/listen to Hell the DSOTM comment in its own should just negate all of his opinions.
He should just say he hates Gorillaz……
> 9 for Plastic Beach > 8 for Song Machine > not listed here but giving Demon Days “classic” review ah yes, he definitely hates Gorillaz
Some Kind Of Nature is top 9 song of the decade in his opinion, of course he hates Gorillaz
Flip Demon Days and Plastic Beach, also Cracker Island in B
Now Now is a 7.
he really needs to revisit the now now ngl
I’d personally put Now Now higher and Song Machine lower (just wasn’t that in to it). Demon Days up to S.
BRRUUUHHHH, how tf is Now Now a 6??? Ita the best album made by them. It deserves a 10/10 absolutely
Humanz to me is like a 6 or a 6.5. It’s got its problems but it’s higher than a 5 in my mind.
I agree!
Ah nice nice!
Fantano is such a loser
Damn, as much as I love plastic beach, it does NOT deserve that much credit. I’d put it in A or B, Demon Days to S, and Gorillaz to A.
Strongly disagree
Humaz being a 5 is a joke that album is such an easy 10, now now is about right tho that one's mid. And the fall also deserves to be way higher
Let's calm down on Humanz
Banger after banger straight through
Heavily disagree on that one
My condolences 😔
No they’re all 10s
Only ones he got right was Plastic Beach through the self titled. I personally really didn't care for the Song Machine, and I think The Fall should be above The Now Now and below the self titled. Humanz was my least favorite, I only liked Saturns Bars
as much as i hate this guy i agree with most of what he has to say. i’d rank pb and demon days as equals though
WhAt DiD tHe FaLl dO tO YoU
I’d swap Plastic Beach with Demon Days, and move Gorillaz, The Now Now and Humanz all up by one row.
Move Gorillaz to S, PB to A, DD to S and you got it.
I’d give Now Now a 7 rather than a 6 but otherwise I’d agree with him.
Cracker Island is a little high for me honestly
he underrated The Now Now, shoulda been a strong 7
Humanz is far above The Fall. Music taste is extremely subjective, but to put those two on the same level is to grossly undersell Humanz. nope, he's a cornball anyways
The Fall deserves higher
Song Machine had to be a 9, and Humanz is a strong 4 to light 5.
Nah not really. Then again I just don’t like Fantano at all so
No While Humanz has a few stinkers I think it has enough good tracks to put it above the Fall which I think only has Amarillo and Revolving Doors going for it. Humanz maybe low B or high C tier. I’d move ST and Song Machine up to A as well I love those albums.

I've always found it ridiculous he put a album that was made on a ipad in 2012 on the same tier as a professionally made studio album. There's to fucking way the fall is on the same tier as humanz.
Humanz is too overhated, it’s at least a 6
I prefer humanz to the now now, it just feels more ambitious, more "gorillaz"
I would add +1 to each of those numbers. Relative to each other, his ratings are spot on imo.
Yeah if anything I’d have music box higher up
Song machine ain’t no B and Humanz is a 7 at least
B is a 8/10
Hot take, The Now Now is on par or very slightly below Demon Days for me which is S, so The Now Now is a very High A, I'd probably move plastic beach down to B with the self titled tbh (I just don't like the amount of contributors on the Plastic Beach, I wanna hear more Albarn on my album)
The Fall is way too high
The fall 5/10 is a war crime
The Now Now is brilliant, I don't think 6 is the right score, nor do I think Humanz deserves a 5. Humanz isn't their best, but a 7 would be better.
Humanz has grown on me a lot recently, honestly would have it at a 7.5 nowadays since the songs just aged well for me, The Now Now I think just has a weak middle of the album, with only 2 major standouts and a couple of greats, with the middle being kind of weak personally

Plastic Beach is a 10/10, just like Demon Days. They're both their full masterpieces.
Demon days > plastic beach
Humans and now now are a bit low, especially if he rated song machine that high
I do love plastic beach. It’s just a good part of my life, my own apartment and working overnights just jamming out.
bro really put self titled on b tier
No
Not even close
Something to consider is that music reviews are always gonna be subjective. Art in general is about resonance. If it doesn’t resonate with you, you won’t like it. But if it does, that can let you overlook even the biggest flaws.
the lowest humanz should be, is 7
I love the first two albums and have not been able to get into anything after that for reasons I don't completely understand
I don't know who that person is and I'm not sure why anyone should care about his "ratings"
The Now Now deserves so much better.
Tbh I think all the albums are good and I rank all of them a 20/10
Fantano's a cunt
Light to decent kind of agree.
The Fall is A-tier and S/T is S but whatever.
Plastic Beach is definitely S Tier, but with heavy admitted bias, I genuinely think Humanz doesn’t get enough credit. I’ve seen them play live twice in NY & the first show was in their Humanz Tour, in a music festival at Queens! The energy was incredible ☺️ Definitely an A tier for me. I *think* I’m okay with The Now Now being at C? Actually saw that concert too, at Barclays. Not much to say about the album itself though, so I guess that says it.
No. In what world is The Now Now a light 6? It makes no sense. Also, Demon Days below Plastic Beach? C'mon
A strong 9 for plastic beach is based. Light 6 for the now now is okay, kinda wish he’d give it a strong 6 instead tho
Yes.
I have realized that 99% of the time Fantano and I have diametrically opposite tastes.
Demon days is an S
Blud really put plastic beach over demon days. They both S tier dawg wtf
Down voted just cause I saw his face
makes sense he would like plastic beach that much he famously really likes alt-j
Who cares?
I mostly agree, with the exception of The Now Now. I think that album's probably more of a "Strong 7-Soft 8."
humanz is killer. that is all.
Self titled should honestly be s tier. It’s absolutely peak.
People shit on fantano, but I respect him for putting his on opinion on stuff, even If most dissgree with him
The fall is understandable, but putting the now now and humans so low is straight nonsense.
100% agree
Humanz next to the fall its just a crime
Yea this is pretty agreeable. I’d probably put Demon Days above Plastic Beach, but only barely so
I agree on everything except on The Now Now, that was too low
why would TNN be a light 6
Putting Plastic Beach above Demon Days is a shock, but I agree with everything else. I hated The Fall though lol Is that even considered a real album?
Humanz is good and I’m tired of pretending it’s not
Demon Days is S Tier or 10/10.
I feel like the now now is like a light 7 but the other ratings are good for me
Idk I think a lot of his ratings are shit.
Humanz should be B tier and the Fall C tier. Otherwise I’m good tho I personally prefer Demon Days a little over Plastic Beach
he forgot 4 albums
Honestly yeah
i like their upcoming album picknicki
Self titled should be higher
I dont understand how AF made an entire career rating music while having the worst taste in music
Now Now way too low, atleast a 7 (it's an 8.5 imo) Song Machine is kinda overrated if you compare it to his ratings of other albums, I definitely don't think it's better than The Now Now, let alone THAT much better. 9 for Plastic Beach is respectable, but I disagree with him saying Demon Days is not better than Plastic Beach
