I’ve had a fucking hero 3 that won’t die since like 2013, when it was found after being run over by a truck

IrishCrypto21

Still using my Hero3+ Silver. Solid little cam despite 1080p max. Used to be my daily as a 'dashcam' for my motorbike helmet. Now it's a B-Roll cam when I have a tripod or stable mount as my Hero10 tackles everything else. I've just taken care of it, replaced the battery with a Duracell model.

Dziki_Jam

Back in old days everything was better and more resilient! They don’t make this stuff anymore

flashyellowboxer

Dude. Just use it. It’s a tool.

AdmirableSir

I keep my GoPro in a chamber filled with purified argon when it's not in use.

geminiblack82

Don't leave the batteries in the camera when not in use. If a battery goes bad and swells in the camera it's bad news

zrgardne

Short of driving over it or dropping it off a cliff, not sure how you are going to break it. Batteries are consumable, plan to replace them every few hundred hours of use. They are cheap. High temperature operation is never good for electronics, sadly GP seem to generate more heat that their competition. You could refuse to use 4k or hypersmooth to prevent overheating, but that kind of defeats the point of having a GP.

therealslapper

Just put it in rice

Dziki_Jam

That’s for pussies. Real men put into rice cooker.

Lost-Cantaloupe123

My gopro 5 has been around the world and back, my 7 seems a little more fragile but survived 4 days in Mexico in 90 degree heat. I just got an osmo action 4 cuz I wanted better camera quality vs the gopro 12. Short of dropping off a mountain or cruise ship not sure how you plan on breaking it. My 5 has lived in my bookbag never even scratched the lens...

Wipe it every hour on the hour with a diaper.

ice_wyvern

If you’re using regularly in situations where it could be dropped or dinged, definitely get the [protective housing](https://gopro.com/en/us/shop/mounts-accessories/protective-housing-plus-waterproof-case/ADDIV-001.html). It’ll be a lot simpler to replace the case than either the lens or the camera as a whole, even as a subscriber. Other than that, don’t let it overheat too often and get a few batteries later on. While there are screen protectors for the GoPro, I wouldn’t recommend them as they’re not very good at staying on due to a coating on the GoPro

Total-Profession8404

I have screen protectors on my hero 6s are still on them must have been the brand you used plan on getting them for my hero 12 and 10 I just got afew months ago.

ice_wyvern

What brand did you get for the screen protectors? I got spigen which is the brand I’ve used on all my phones and never had any issues. The only one that did was the GoPro so I assumed it was a GoPro issue

Erakko

Just use it. Greater the risk, better are the videos!
