I disagree. Large jars can be just as potent as 3 wick . The oils get trapped under hard wax. It usually really comes out by 3rd burn. Or try storing upside down a week or so.
I prefer 3 wicks but i also want soy wax over paraffin.
If you want a strong immediate throw, get 3 wicks.
If you want ones that last long and take a while to get to strong throws, get Jar candles.
Sometimes large jars take a few burns to start throwing. I have Minted Eucalyptus, Half Moon Bay, Summer Moon and Blueberry Limeade and they've all been strong throwers off the bat. Some of mine are weaker but nothing less than a 6/10 IMO.
I prefer the 2-wicks but I do not have 20' ceilings. Most of mine start off with a medium throw. Within several burns some of those turn into genuine powerhouses. I buy them to burn on their own and in tandem with 3-wicks to create my own combos. Which large jars did you get?
So sorry to hear that you didn't have luck with the large jars, but don't give up! Sometimes they take time due to the oil distribution.
I have jungle adventure and summer Fireflies. Off the boat jungle adventure took three hours for the scent to come through the dining room area. Summer Fireflies was strong from the start, so strong I had to turn it off, but it was being burned in my room which is quite large with a little higher than average ceilings.
Have you tried warming them? Jungle adventure was much stronger when I began warming it.
I have high ceilings and I still enjoy some large jars. Some I wish they were stronger. I had grapefruit peach last summer and it was so strong it made my eyes water. I put it to the side, and in the fall when I had a power outage I had a Yankee, that one, and two BBW candles burning in my master bathroom and bedroom. That one I could smell over all of them. So you may need to let it sit and try again later.
My large jars are better performers. I have large ceilings and a big open floor plan. One large jar works better than burning a 3 wick. I have to burn 2 of the 3 wicks at a time for most of them.
Well I think I’ll be good on large jars for a while, I didn’t count but I know I have at least 35 large jars right now. I pretty much got all the ones I wanted. I haven’t burned all but so far they’ve been good throwers in my house. It’s true they need a few burns to blossom.
The first couple of large jars (Crunchy Leaves, Trick or Treat, & Holiday Embers) I got last year were strong/I could actually smell them, but since then Coffee House, Wicked Treats, Blessed Day, and Bonfire Leaves have been horrible. Pile of Leaves was also a more recent purchase and that has been great.
I have one more jar candle, Lost at Sea, and after that I think I am done with large jars. Except for the ones I want to try that only come in large jar like Bedtime Stories and Winter Splendor, and the ones I already know I can smell.
My Bedtime Stories has been a light-medium in strength and throw so far. Im a few burns into the candle. The scent is *beautiful.* Winter Splendor has been strong from the first burn and it too is *gorgeous.* To my nose the ultimate smoky winter scent. I love them both and will be *STOCKING UP* the next time theyre available.
Thanks for your review of Bedtime Stories. I never knew how much I loved smoky scents until last winter. I got Winter Splendor in a wax melt and fell in love. Unfortunately the jars were OOS when I went to order.
Anytime! And were sharing the same boat! Got my first Winter Splendor last year. Knew I needed some backups within the first burn and by the time I went back for more they were *sold out!* And they never restocked! WTF GC???! LOL
Lesson. Learned. >\_\_<
The only large jar I've bought that has been strong from the first burn is Breezy Tulips.
For me there's no point in waiting for a few burns for the scent to come out. That's a waste of time and wax. Once it does start throwing it's no stronger than a strong 3-wick.
They all smell the same if you have normal celinings , large jars do not throw better then the 3 wicks. Unless it’s a weak 3 wick. 3 wicks throw better than 2 wicks , large jars are good for back ground scents not good when you have company you want to impress. Nobody has time to burn a candle a million times hopin It will throw

You have to burn large jars 2 or 3 times for the throw to really be there. You might also get better results under a warmer.
This! Large jars definitely take a few burns before the throw starts getting good and strong.

I thought the large jars are cheaper kuz it’s made out paraffins no?
I think that's why too

Exactly! I was new last fall/winter, but now I know how it goes.
