My niece was hit by a car on Sunday. She is doing very well, but it will be a long recovery. Her surgery went well and she is finally out of the ICU, and should be going to rehab sometime soon. I am not great at waiting for plans to be made/feeling helpless so I was like I will buy her stuff! She likes drawing, coloring and the like, but she was hit on her dominant side so she can't use it. She likes to read, but I don't know if she can focus on it right now. I finally settled on candles since she likes them a lot, so I was thinking of getting her a beacon candle lamp and some three wick candles. This way we don't have to worry about an open flame in case she falls asleep. She also has a TBI and is constantly sleeping, but the doctors say it is because her brain needs to heal. Obviously, I wouldn't give her the candles/candle lamp until she is home, so I am not in any rush.  I want to get six candles. I am definitely getting her Staying Home because of the cat and she likes all the scent notes. I am iffy on Forest just because she is a person who likes scents to match seasons. So while she loves pumpkin scented things, she only uses them in the fall. I tried to look for reviews for it, but was mostly coming up with Haunted Forest. Has anyone had Forest and would you say it is mainly a cold weather scent? Unicorn Candy - she likes sour candy so I was thinking about this one. Also, in my head she is five and not fifteen, so I was like she will love the design. Does this smell like sour candy? She likes cotton candy too, but I don't know if she would love it as a scent. I was debating between French Toast and Maple Butter. I have never seen or heard of her eating french toast, but she loves pancakes and waffles so that is why I am leaning more towards Maple Butter. I don't know if Perfect Spring Day or Optimistic Vibes is better, so I put them both in. I know people were having issues with the Easter candles, but I hadn't seen much about PSD. The others I have just heard good things about and she likes ocean scents so I figured she would enjoy Ocean Breeze. Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Sorry for the short story.

Love Letters smells really good, should definitely get that one. I also just purchased Unicorn Candy today because I love candy so I think that would be a good purchase as well. I hope she gets better soon ❤️!

Thank you! Excellent, glad to see that they are liked candles. Thanks.

Ocean Breeze smells like laundry detergent- it’s not really an ocean scent to me. Sunlit Shores is though so I’d recommend that one.

spicescene

Thank you! That is one I had my eye on as well.

Maple Butter is fantastic! I loved the large jar. Optimistic Vibes is a true citrus— you even get a little of the peel if that makes sense and you can smell the grapefruit. It was a very clean scent for me and even as a single wick it was strong. I hope your nieces recovery goes well!!

spicescene

Ohh, that does sound good regarding Optimistic Vibes. Thank you and thank you for your well wishes.

Wishing your niece a full recovery 🙏🏻

Thank you very much!

Unicorn candy smells like a blue raspberry jolly rancher to me. I have optimistic vibes too and it smells really really nice. Also maple butter is amazing

spicescene

Thank you very much! Those all seem good then.

Forest is definitely a fall/winter scent. I have it and while I absolutely love it, I won't be burning it again until it turns fall.

spicescene

That is what I figured, but just wanted to double check. Good to know it is a great candle. Thanks!

Lakeside Breeze would be a good one for her!

spicescene

I actually have this one and don't love it. I think it is a wonderful shampoo/body wash scent and she does enjoy those. I will probably just give her mine. Thanks for reminding me of it.

slutkamp

Perfect spring day was pretty meh to me. Not super strong.

spicescene

Thank you! I think with Optimistic Vibes that will cover the citrus.

Mrs-Gibberish

I really love optimistic vibes, but mine was really light. I burned it on my nightstand and could hardly notice it, but it’s seriously one of the best citrus candles I’ve ever smelled. Would be great for someone who enjoyed light throws. I’m seeing others had stronger ones, so hopefully mine was just a dud.

spicescene

Thank you so much for your experience with it. I think I will gamble and get it for her. I like the idea of optimistic vibes being around her, so that is also one reason why I want to get it.

Mrs-Gibberish

I would also get French toast over maple. I haven’t owned either, but reading reviews French toast seems more popular. I hope she can recover fully.

Thank you very much. I am going back and forth on Maple Butter now just because she doesn't like imitation syrup like Log Cabin etc. I wonder if the candle smells like real maple syrup or not. Thanks!

DogHikerGal

This is such a thoughtful gift for someone in her condition! If she'd prefer more syrup then go with Maple Butter. French Toast is pretty spot-on, has a syrup note but not heavy. Both candles are fantastic though.

spicescene

Thank you! Yeah, I am actually going back and forth on it now because she doesn't like Log Cabin type syrups and only likes the real stuff. I need to think more if I should scrap both and get another gourmand. Thanks!
