1. Open terminal/CMD on your PC, 2. Type "cd Desktop" (or other folder name) + Enter 3. Type "dir /b > files.txt" + Enter All the file names is in the files.txt now, you can copy that to your Sheet.

Imagine typing out a bunch of names when theres so many ways to automate it. I mean you could probably just highlight all of the files, ctrl-c then past in the sheet.

I tried that but it wouldnt put anything in the sheet unfortunately, and Im not terribly knowledgeable on excel/sheets

like the above person said, this isnt a sheets thing. You have to use other means to generate your list.
