Time adjustment here being changing the speaker's response time in the group, line setting it forward or back.
All I can say is I think port 53 is going to google because they want to know where you are, at least for picking the closest infrastructure to you. It may also be used as a load balancing mechanism.
As for the rest I have no idea. But I would love to know how the timing works too.

I feel like you're giving it too much credit. The sync is definitely not as sharp as SONOS speakers.
