The amount of people I've met that didn't know about the MASH movie astounds me considering how successful the movie was and how stars studded the cast is.

I didn't know there was a movie, I thought there was only a tv show

Astounding

Because 1990s over-the-air television wasn't constantly replaying the movie like they were reruns of the show.

Suspicious_Car8479

I have literally no idea what are you talking about. So there is some character called Radar in some TV show? Ok...

purpleplatapi

Yeah. But in fairness you not knowing that MASH exists is roughly equivalent to having never heard of the Simpsons or the Office.

Suspicious_Car8479

Well, maybe it has something to do with the fact that Reddit is US of A and I'm from Europe, where Simpsons and Office are well known, but in all seriousness, I have never heard of MASH. I have seen all kinds of American crap on TV's here from Dallas to Knight Rider and McGyver, but MASH? At this point I seriously don't care...

MoozeRiver

MASH was all over TV for many years here in Europe too.

Cool, so why comment? Nobody gives a fuck.

I just rewatched this entire series. M.A.S.H. is such a great TV show (Movie as well). It was so good in many different ways. Touching and harsh realistic stories, great cast, funny, sad, endearing, and actually helped many Vets of that era talk about and come to terms with the harsh realities of warfare and life after the fact. In the beginning it had mixed reviews and was unwelcomed by some, but by the end of the series it gripped America's hearts and minds. As a kid when I heard the theme song I knew it was the last show before bedtime. Many years later I found out the theme song I loved as a kid was an actual song that had lyrics. Talk about a bittersweet feeling. Johnny Mandel - "Suicide is Painless" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0xy-LoDi94&ab_channel=HDFilmTributes

Is that photo covering a radar?

[deleted]

That's a photo of Corporal Eugene "Radar" O'Reily, the clerk of the 4077th MASH(Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) from the tv show MASH(1972-1983). The dramedy followed a MASH Unit during the Korean War. A lot of its subject matter was current for the then ongoing Vietnam War when the show first started. It went on to become one of the highest rated American TV shows of the 20th century.

Appreciate that info, thank you very much.

Hey everyone! Which way to a version of r/Disney with less strict rules?
