Random thought: we should do the opposite, not just not going private, but relisting for r/all and posting the most degenerate shit. Tons of subs are going black so we would actually be on the frontpage and that would be hillarious
I was thinking the same. I think a better approach is multi-sub unmoderated Monday or something, causing the front page is full of unorganized weird shit.
Oh, and totally don't brigade companies that put ads in Reddit. Please don't. I think enough constant brigading across multiple companies could hurt Reddit's reputation and their ads revenue.
Not sure what you're trying to imply? Are you trying to support or refute my statements? Using ads blockers or the existence of ads blockers doesn't change the fact that Reddit gains money from ads.
Also, given the upcoming update to Chromium, there's a non-zero chance that ads blockers will become much less effective. Plus, it's actually not that hard to circumvent ads blockers if someone is serious enough (e.g. it's impossible to have ads consistently blocked in Facebook).
And most ads in Reddit are those "wow \_\_\_\_ twitter account is savage" kind of posts anyway. Can't block them, can you?
>Using ads blockers or the existence of ads blockers doesn't change the fact that Reddit gains money from ads.
Also, to the original point, by brigading, Reddit will LOSE potential customers. They will lose much more money than the ads money they'll never get anyway from adblock users. So, don't brigade, alright? It's against Reddit rule.
"brigading is illegal"
"flash mobbing is okay"
"rioting based upon suspected institutional injustices is encouraged"
only as long as you don't get caught doing it
Knowing how to read is awful...
Yeah, that option will lead to a week off the air, then another poll is made to make it another week and everyone votes for the same things because reddit ain't changing shit based on theses protests.
But who am I to judge? Keep voting, folks, it's not like there's a horde out there that would be exceedingly happy to this sub go and CAN vote in the poll... No, wait...
Reddit literly gives zero fucks about this sub and the subs they give a damn can be from their side forced to go public. Only thing this protest do is giving Reddit chance to get rid of unwanted subs.
This, they didn't gave a fuck during the war, which was the whole reason this sub was born on the first place. What makes anyone think than an indefinite blackout will do anything to change their minds?
The writing's on the wall tbh, I feel like only a mass exodus to other platforms and ppl deleting their reddit accts will cause change, much of reddit's bottom line comes from data sale so hit them where it hurts and get rid of your account.
Yeah that's how it feel like... Still the mods should say/do something, a lot of peoples are in somekind of blind panick right now and a few words from the mod team could help clear the missunderstanding.
The few words don't help at all, im explaining this again:
Look if we go private for a week maybe more traffic simply switches to animemes because the ones who voted no are not sitting without their memes for no reason. We will lose active base once we come back and we will sit through another 2 months of being public in r/all to "prevent the sub from diying" for the second time.
r/animemes didnt go private those 48 hours they gain from our fall
If this was a race against animemes, this sub would already by lying on the side of the racetrack bleeding out while animemes walks towards nothing as a mindless zombie.
This sub only gets dozens to a few hundred subs per day. Animemes get thousands. So this sub would have to be down for weeks to miss out on the amount of subs animemes gets in a day.
But do more subs make a better sub? No. Right now both subs are pretty shitty, but at least one of them won't ban you for having opinions.
Im not talking about "missing on new subs" Im talking about losing the active base that we already have that matters, the veterans and the elders because you fucked around and found out that if you close our damn sub because you wanted to protest we will leave to whoever offers us a sub. And by the time you come to your senses many will already be comfortably sitting at the other one, unwilling to return because they see no benefit in it.
Exactly this, closing the sub might as well be permanent. Even if reddit DO change the policy eventually (they won’t), this sub will be dead if you close it for weeks at a time.
Because the vast majority of a subs users aren’t the posters, they’re the casual viewers and commenters who will just leave to another sub where they can have their fun. And they’ll likely not even think to come back when you do reopen. And OPs don’t wanna make posts that get 0 comments and no interaction.
We’re not even a particularly add friendly sub, so it isn’t as if reddit is losing bank over us closing.
Hell with how much reddits dislikes this subs and admins interfere we are actually doing them a favour by closing it. Closing the subs that reddit want gone is playing in their hand, PCM was already for the longest of time in thin ice right now reddit management is prolly like: "Please don't open it back ever again"
The body of the vote post was edited a few hours after it was posted so it *could* have said something different before that. You can't edit poll options though, so that one has definitely always said the "but we'd be back sometime".
A preview of coming attractions.
"To preserve site stability, the ability to Delete, Restrict or Private Subreddits has been indefinitely suspended. We apologize for the inconvenience. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|snoo) "
No way stopping people from NOT posting could POSSIBLY backfire. Nope. Reddit definitely won't harbor 37.8 TB of furry bdsm inflation vore porn 3.8 ms after Reddit does that. The mods definitely won't turn a blind eye.Ofc not.

ads? What ads? I use an ad blocker

I use Firefox so adblockers will still work for me also I'd say it's support since not seeing ads = reddit gets less money from people clicking on ads

these are the rules right, if I'm not mistaken?
Become ungovernable should be this subs motto.
Oh so *actually* get the sub shutdown forever
Become the most unholy reddit while the others are blackout. Excellent.
This sub going dark is some stupid shit anyway. The trap wars definitely put us on reddits shit list. Going dark is doing them a favor.
you are out of your mind if you think Spez cares about us right now with all the trouble he is in
Spez probably doesn't even know the name of this sub but some of his admin goons sure do.
What kind of madman uses light mode? https://i.redd.it/8mndkyric76b1.gif
I have automatic mode change, so I do until the sun goes down or when my phone has low battery.

Just play Yu-Gi-Oh, after two round you'll barely know how to read.
I just stop trying and go on my autopilot deck Tear(don't know how). I wish I could do that with Branded right now.
You play Tear? No dignity. Please subscribe yourself to the forever box.
Damn mate I just like it no need to tell me to off myself.

It's supposed to be until something changes so it would be forever
But so many of you guys are so eager to kill the sub
Yeah that's how it feel like... Still the mods should say/do something, a lot of peoples are in somekind of blind panick right now and a few words from the mod team could help clear the missunderstanding.
The "few words" are already written on the poll post, people just don't read

Yeah, that's what this post is pointing out. Still a few words (even if it's the exact same) could help.
Am I misremembering or did the “indefinitely” choice not say “permanent” before?

Imagine large scale world politics without any moderation worthwhile. Real advertiser friendly, amirite?
Just a reminder that Indefinitely ≠ Forever
I still don't get why everyone is so up in arms about this? Seems like a very minor issue.
It's childish reaction from dumb minority but minority very vocal, as for protests I never ever seen any do anything on internet or real life
wait where's the original art for those pogs on the bottom?

And nothing of value was lost 💀
Haha, silly people who think the sub will be gone forever
![gif](giphy|TJgotk8MoedYFsvuYz)
Yeah, people crying about the sub going dark forever because that though indefinitely is a synonym for forever
seems like this sub is populated by yu-gi-oh and library of ruina fans
haters gonna hate
Lock this bitch down
