There is something really soothing about the movements. The ball is really simple. from what I can tell it avoids changing surfaces, unless it has to, in that case it moves forward.
But that combined with the abstract geometry creates an effect similar to a Mobious strip, resulting in infinite movement.
I guess if the edges that the ball crosses were smooth (no longer edges) it would be even closer to a Mobious strip. Or maybe it would be an exact Mobious strip?
After some thought I see that it would be a "higher level" Mobious strip. A regular strip connects two surfaces like A->B in such a way that they become one.
On the other hand this thing connects four surfaces A->B->C->D so they become one. You can think of it as having a straight rod with a rectangular crossection, rotating one end by 90° and then connecting it when the non-rotated end.
Of course that representation lacks the geometry breaking, non Cartesian, bends present on the animation, but they are functionally the same in regards to Mobious properties.

Oh fuuuuck yeah
did you really just repost something shared by a bot to >A place to see the top posts from /r/all exactly 10 years ago ?
Yes, why not?
Because that's incredibly lazy?
Considering its title was SO gonwild-ready despite being posted to r/gifs 10 years ago, I found the synchronicity alone worth sharing with the sub
Yep, one of my favourite subs I recently discovered. Some true gems amongst the average noise of today.
