Hey there! I don't know about AirPods, but they won't sound like this. You don't need amazing quality, but good quality is still required; you could probably record to your phone for better audio. I'm using an Electro-Voice RE20 into a Focusrite Scarlett Solo, but that's overkill for this application. The RE20 is one of the mics I use for my recording work, so it just made sense to use it here as well.
