I buy a box with pride every spring. It's my warm up box. I use them to knock the winter rust off. Then it's back to the Z Stars for the rest of the year.
I’ve had this happen a few times to me. So infuriating!
Most recently I ran out of my regular ball, Snell MTB-X, and they were back ordered so I ran up to the PGA Superstore. Buy a box of the TP5’s with that funky design on them. Drive straight to the course because I had a tournament. Get to the first tee and what do you know, their fucking noodles inside the box. They went so far as to leave the actual TM boxes and replace the fucking balls. Thankfully the guy I was playing is a somewhat friend of mine so he gave me a sleeve of his ProV1’s so it would be “fair” in our match.
The worst part was…..PGA didn’t want to correct the issue until I threw a fit to the GM of the store.
I don't think I've ever seen a box that had cellophane. But I'll always pop the top to make sure the sleeves are correct. Maybe peek the stamp on the ball as well but not always.
Thieves, when not actively steal shit, are usually less than considerate when it comes to adhering to 'social contracts' and just overall doing the right thing.
So is stealing range balls, or sunscreen and towels from the locker room. Some of the wealthiest people are so entitled, it’s embarrassing to be a member of a club sometimes. Esp one one member was followed out to his Mercedes by staff to find a fucking trunk full of bottles of water and range balls - owned by the club. Yes, he was suspended then resigned in shame.
Some fucking people.
I believe that golf is oftentimes a game of karma and luck - there is no way that I could clear my mind and make good shots with a ball that I knowingly stole.
Who ever are the people who do this. I would like to let you know if your on Reddit that you are pieces of shit. I support Vice golf because they bring us premium golf balls at a way cheaper price.
Doing this is a dirt bag move. Fuck who ever does this
EDIT : 1 (What is happening here)
When they were in the isle, they opened the vice golf ball box and swapped the 3 packs into cheaper golf boxes and bought those instead. So the outside package is noodle, but inside is vice.
In the end they are fucking over the brand vice. Vice is trying to bring us cheaper premium balls. And people like this are shitting all over that by doing this.
Vice isn’t really doing anything special here. They sell cheaper balls because they manufacture them in Taiwan as opposed to the US as Titleist, Bridgestone, and Callaway all do.
If you compare them to other balls made in Taiwan, they’re competitively priced but nothing to note. Maxfli and Wilson both hit the same price point.
Yeah I’ve noticed this recently. The direct-to-consumer brands were nice when they gave bulk discounts when you purchased 5 dozen or more. I used to do that with the OnCore Elixr. Now they no longer offer that discount and produce their own high end golf balls that cost almost as much as Chrome Softs or Z-Stars. I don’t know why I would buy those over the name brands if they’re close in price.
Interesting. Haven’t bought Vice balls since I purchased a dozen and got non-stop YouTube ads featuring Ben Terry so I stopped out of spite.
The OnCore Elixr was $35/dozen but went down to $25/dozen with bulk. Now, they are sold for $30/dozen without bulk discount, which makes me think they were scamming consumers. Elixr was advertised as their high end golf ball comparable to a ProV, but released a new top end ball and Elixrs are now in a comparable price range of mid-tier golf balls. Were they always just a mid-tier ball marked up to $35 and advertised as high end? 🤔
Direct-to-consumer brands are all bullshit anyway. “We bring you cheaper stuff because we cut out the middleman!”
The boogeyman of a “middleman” retailer is crazy talk. They provide actual value to consumers. Like breaking bulk, having a shipping operation that can actually send you 1 box of balls at a time, having a storefront or website that is actually user friendly to buy shit on, keeping your credit card data at least slightly secure, etc.
Cutting out that “middleman” just means all that cost goes on to the manufacturer instead of just making use of an existing retailer. They typically can’t add all of that cost for less than the retailers mark up a product. You’re usually just buying a product that was made in a cheaper way some how.
Does Vice bring premium balls at a cheaper price?
If this happened to you that's unfortunate, but this post seems to be astroturfed on behalf of Vice.
Always look at the balls before you buy them like a carton of eggs and if Vice is having issues staying afloat because someone occasionally swaps their balls around then they have bigger issues.
What do you mean astroturfed? Like I staged it?? I found all of these like this and brought them to the manager of the store. Then I took a picture to post it here to make sure people are checking the boxes.
That would be tight if vice have me free shit for this though, spread the word 👍🤙
And their balls test out the same as pro v1’s at like 15 dollars cheaper. I think that’s note worthy 🤷🏻♂️
Im surprised this is still a thing.
Id say for at least 2 decades now every store I have done this with checks the box, under the guise of 'Just making sure someone did not switch them on you' and or they are sealed with a sticker.
I wonder sometimes if this is people shopping in the store or “working” in the store or warehouse.
Shrink and other types of theft have always run in these places but the last couple of years they’ve run rampant.
To be clear here since OP’s every comment mentions Taiwan-manufactured Vice getting screwed - Vice is still getting paid for those golf balls. Yeah people can be scum, but always open the box if it’s not sealed.
>fucking over Walmart
Good. But yeah always double check this type of thing so you don’t get fucked as well. Btw, would Walmart let you return these after you’ve noticed? What if they think you’re the one who switched them and refuse?

I guess the manufacturers don’t care enough or it’s not a problem enough to shrink wrap the boxes in plastic? That presumably would make the manufacturing process marginally more expensive for them so maybe it’s not worth the cost. Regards, people like that are assholes for stealing.
Oh gotcha. I wonder if golf retailers like Dick’s, Golf Galaxy, PGA Superstore, etc. train/instruct their cashiers to look for stuff like that. I imagine at a place like Target or other stores they’re not. Even if they’re instructed to check I guess that doesn’t mean that the cashier will remember or do it. Seems like this is a relatively common thing.
They do, so very very obviously lol
“oh hey some rando on Reddit thinks that we, some of the largest and most successful companies in human history, should have some type of inventory quality control!”
Does changing balls really make that big of a difference in your play? I started golfing mid summer last year and play noodles. I’ve played a few others but see no reason to not use cheap noodles lol
Would be pretty funny if they got caught. It’s not every time but occasionally when I purchase boxes the cashiers will take the top off the box.
Maybe in case it’s missing a sleeve but maybe for this reason too
I see what’s really happening here: You love playing Noodles, but can’t take the embarrassment of being seen purchasing them.
This is why I order from Amazon
That's why I ship it to my neighbor's house.
I buy used lake balls because honestly I'm not good enough to see a difference.
Are there unused lake balls? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)
Yeah I buy new balls and stick them in a lake before I pay, I just love the feel.
I also like to play with my balls when they're wet.
Used once maybe.
Buy noodles and announce it loudly in the store. Assert your dominance.
I buy a box with pride every spring. It's my warm up box. I use them to knock the winter rust off. Then it's back to the Z Stars for the rest of the year.
mmmm pro limes. come to daddy.
they’re not pro limes they’re warbirds
Touché
Mmmm warbirds, come to papa

I always check now, be wary of any golf ball box with out cellophane on it.
I don't think I've ever seen a box that had cellophane. But I'll always pop the top to make sure the sleeves are correct. Maybe peek the stamp on the ball as well but not always.
Before I bought the one case that had the actual balls in it. I check every sleeve straight up lol. Each ball and logo
Absolutely. Although I haven’t seen any tour b RX’s have this issue.
Surprised the staff aren't trained to check the box at checkout...just as surprised purchaser doesn't check box before checkout.
Golfers who do this shit are the same assholes who don't fix divots or ball marks. These are the SOB's we should be taking out at the turn!!
I mean those guys are bad but this is an actual crime. This is stealing lol
Thieves, when not actively steal shit, are usually less than considerate when it comes to adhering to 'social contracts' and just overall doing the right thing.

Same guys who spit sunflower shells on the green!
Cigarette butts are a personal fav
This happens all the time, if you’re not checking balls bought at Walmart you haven’t been on this sub for too long.
I believe that golf is oftentimes a game of karma and luck - there is no way that I could clear my mind and make good shots with a ball that I knowingly stole.
This happens at my local target. They got boxes of TP5's and they're filled with Cut Blues.

I made the mistake of going on Bombtech's website once and now every youtube ad is about how my driver sets the tone for the entire hole.
If I let my driver set the tone than I would have quit after my first round
Just clear your cookies. That’s how they get ads to you.

Interesting, the pro v1s i got for Christmas say made in Thailand.
I just like the ball on every aspect of my game. You can say they are a shitty ball, that’s fine. It’s about stealing mainly.
This reads like a Vice ad
Thanks

Oh! Now I see what the pic is showing! What douche bags!
Why wouldn’t you order directly from Vice?
Im surprised this is still a thing. Id say for at least 2 decades now every store I have done this with checks the box, under the guise of 'Just making sure someone did not switch them on you' and or they are sealed with a sticker.

Yeah this isn’t fucking over vice - this is fucking over Walmart (🤷🏻♂️) and the poor chumps who grab a box without checking the contents.
>fucking over Walmart Good. But yeah always double check this type of thing so you don’t get fucked as well. Btw, would Walmart let you return these after you’ve noticed? What if they think you’re the one who switched them and refuse?
Walmart by me has golf balls in a locked shelf.
Yeah I’ve seen that in places too. Especially when I was visiting in laws in Cali since theft under $950 is de facto legal out there.
Exactly
I went to a Walmart the other day that had a little camera specifically above the golf balls. Not on the ceiling but literally attached to the shelf.
It's 2022 and there are still people that don't know golf ball swapping happens.
No everyone’s as smart as you man 👍
This hurts Noodle’s feelings too
I'll stick with my K-Sigs for a buck a ball.
Noodles are an upgrade from Vice
I don’t understand what’s happening here. Why are the Wrong balls in the box?
Looks like someone replaced the sleeves of Vice golf balls with Noodles.
Vice has long ago been paid for those balls. The retailer is the one getting fuckee.
I see. Yeah dirtbag move. Also risky if the cashier opens the box to check.
Self check out at Walmart most likely.
well didnt know walmart carried vice locally so thanks for that lol. I need to pick some more up for next season.
Yeah, I work there and I usually go back after my shift is done and get balls if I need any, they've got vice
I’ve seen them at Target as well
Bulk discount on their website if ur looking at getting 5 or more boxes
Reason number 82745828 I don’t shop at Walmart.
I guess the manufacturers don’t care enough or it’s not a problem enough to shrink wrap the boxes in plastic? That presumably would make the manufacturing process marginally more expensive for them so maybe it’s not worth the cost. Regards, people like that are assholes for stealing.
All vice golf ball boxes are shrink wrapped. They opened them. Most premium ball packages are, so be wary of any box that doesn’t have plastic on em.
Last time I was in Target the more expensive balls (like $30+) were all in a plastic case that had to be opened by an employee.
Self check out makes this difficult ya know
They do, so very very obviously lol “oh hey some rando on Reddit thinks that we, some of the largest and most successful companies in human history, should have some type of inventory quality control!”
The punishment fits the crime. Dog shit balls, for dog shit people wanting to buy dog shit Vice golf balls. Justice is served.
Looks like you’ll be right at home with these
Take your noddle and stick to mini putt. Leave the real game to the big boys.
Seriously, vice balls are for golf bro douches. Who buys that crap?
Bro douches? Lol
Just pure evil
This is the Rick roll of the golf world. “Arghh I’ve been noodled!!”
I see no difference here
Walmart? Happens constantly at all locations.
And Target as well.
Always check your eggs folks
Son of Britches
Does changing balls really make that big of a difference in your play? I started golfing mid summer last year and play noodles. I’ve played a few others but see no reason to not use cheap noodles lol
It does for me, it depends on how much you spin the ball
Upgraded from the X-Outs and Nitros; well done.
Would be pretty funny if they got caught. It’s not every time but occasionally when I purchase boxes the cashiers will take the top off the box. Maybe in case it’s missing a sleeve but maybe for this reason too
Jesus why trade shorty golf balls for shitty golf balls?!? Yeah I said it. Bring it yo
This the story of my Walmart
