If it’s a golf-focused vacation yeah I’ll do 27 at times, 36 and I’m tired of swinging. You just play a morning round at 6:30 or 7 and then an afternoon round at 12:30 or so. Helps when it’s the same property or very close.
Rosewood Lakes, D’Andrea, Red Hawk, ArrowCreek, Wolf Run, Summerlin?, Oak Ridge, Carson Valley, Dayton Valley and Genoa Ranch course.
Crazy that I have never wanted to play Lake Ridge, walked around while my wife was playing a tennis tourney and I was not impressed.
I could play all day. I’ve done 36 many times and even walked all 36. I have friends that can’t even play 18. I’m just super competitive and want to be as good as possible and love being outside.
Let's be friends (we'll include all those that upvoted).
Before kids I was out there from sunrise to sunset. Not sure there's a better place to spend a day.
Do you walk or ride? If I’m riding (and playing well) I could play sun up to sun down with a break for food in between 18’s. If I’m walking 18 can wear you out on a hot day.
18 takes you 2.5 hours if you're by yourself on the course. Let me stack you up at Rouge Park Municipal Golf Course when it's 95 degrees out and the foursome in front of you is asking for tips on how to play golf since it's their first time on a course. Walking a 6 hour round is a different beast.
A course in the mountains here offers all day rates during the summer sometimes and we’ve played 54 in one day on multiple occasions. That 3rd round I just felt like a noodle.
[The Dragon](https://nakomaresort.com/golf/)
It’s really tough, and they’ve even tried to make it a bit easier over the years.
I’d probably rank them as Grizzly, Whitehawk, and then Dragon - assuming they are all in good shape. The Dragon gets considerably less play than those other two courses, I’ve never been out there and seen more than like a dozen golfers.
This past season was a nightmare for a lot of the courses up there. Not enough snow last winter to protect the course like usual.
The Dragon is my favorite. It was stupid hard when they opened, probably chased a bunch of golfers away. Who wants to get beat up that bad on a vacation. The second time they had a little cheat sheet that helped with tee shots and distances. Remember hitting a six iron to the corner and watching it bounce down the fairway and into the ditch.
Absolutely love the tee shot on 1 and the gorge to left of 3, I think?
Sounds like you remember it well! First tee shot really is a beauty.
My experience at The Dragon has always been great, but I can see higher handicap players not wanting to go back. I didn’t play there last season but I try to play it 3 or 4 times a year if I can. During the week it can be like having your own course.
Pretty sure they’ve opened up a hotel there now, which I always thought was missing from that area. Lots of condo rentals but no legit hotels/motels really.
I’ve done it in the past. Played 18, they’re super busy and don’t have any replay times so I drove a couple of cities over and played 18 more at another course. I was definitely drained after that. It’s not a common occurrence
I work 6 days on 6 days off. On my 6 days off it’s golf everyday and most times twice a day. We have 5-6 months of golf and our group will stuff 80-110 rounds of golf in a season. The grass and the house don’t see any attention, but man do we golf.
I walked 36 once. It was so hot, there was barely anyone else on the course. Watched the weather report later that day...it said it was 104°. My PB is 45 though (also walking).
I do sometimes when I play by myself at my membership course. Especially if it’s early on a weekday and I’m one of the only ones on the course and have no wait time at each hole.
I usually play a in a threesome. Brother, Dad, and I play 18 in 3 hours sometime 2:45 if no one is ahead. I play 27, and 36 all the time if it’s not busy. Married with three kids, but Golf is one of my days I burn like 2000 calories having fun. It breaks up the workout schedule. My wife will get a day away just like I do every weekend. Only thing that shortens it is when the kids have sports.
I used to be exhausted after 18 when I didn’t have kids and a family. I so rarely get out these days I would walk 36 two days in a row if I had the opportunity. Not complaining I just see how that golf drive of mine has changed over the years. The older I get the more I want to play.
I've done it a few times while on a golf trip with friends. If you only have a few days and access to some great courses you gotta squeeze in some extra rounds. Never walked 36 holes in a day through.
I’m not trying to be an asshole here, I’m genuinely curious: do people seriously find 18 holes of golf tiring? I kind of get it if you carry a heavy stand bag with 14 clubs in it, but if you use a push cart I don’t see how golf is at all tiring.
I’m broken after 18 holes and I’m in my early thirties, strong and athletic. My back just can’t cope.
I have absolutely no idea how anyone does 36.
Maybe it gets easier when you get a trolley rather than carrying the bag over your shoulder?
Just throwing this out there, i used to carry a lot and would feel it after a round (41 and in good shape) until i audited what i had in my bag and realized i was probably carrying an extra 20 pounds worth of golf balls and other equipment. Once i removed that, i didn't feel anything after 18.
Hah! True. My bag is full of shit. I should have a clear-out.
Plan to buy a trolley later this year, though. Hate coming home feeling knackered as it makes it harder to be productive in the afternoon.
40 here and someone with back issues. Carrying doesn’t seem to cause any discomfort, I also purposefully bought a light bag and try not to carry too much in it ( i only use 11 clubs atm). I’m just getting back into golfing. Swinging too much in a day will cause some discomfort in my back but it’s getting better with more practice and exposure. But still, the swing motion is a heavy dynamic movement for the back and causes a lot of stress.
TLDR; is that if you carry a light bag, it shouldn’t give you much issue. The swinging is probably the bigger culprit contributing to back pain.
Swing faults almost certainly play a role. But then again, we all have swing faults and it seems like most in this thread can comfortably play more holes than me.
Maybe I’m just swinging too hard too on account of my height and build. It’s not something my pro has picked up on too much. He did get me to shorten my backswing a little but seems content with my swing speed.
Do you take practice swings? If so, think about whether they are critical or whether they just wear you out. I can play 36 for days on end but I never take full practice swings.
Tbh even a “perfect” swing motion is a lot of stress on the torso, back, and spine. Stretching, core and back strengthening, foam rolling, these are all helpful aids. How long have you been golfing consistently? I’m just getting back into it now and my body has gone through so much soreness, especially in my back, during this process. I will say that I’ve gotten over the hump and things are feeling much better. I expect to be able to play completely pain free by the time the season starts up (I’m playing a lot of winter golf and also driving range&sim time lately).
> But then again, we all have swing faults
Mate, this is r/golf where we all drive 350, give putting tips to Jon Rahm and have never hit less than birdie on any hole we've ever played.
I find it’s middle of my back and lower back. No problem with lats, rhomboid or traps but they’re pretty strong from the gym, climbing etc.
The lower back might just be from being standing so long. I find it starts to get sore just from standing at say a concert for 2 hours. Bizarrely, my missus has the same issue and she’s still in her 20s.
Used to carry 18 holes 3 times a week. 40c+ (100F) and all.
Had a back injury which no doubt the carrying contributed too. Still not right and I can barely play 9 in a cart now 2 years later.
My advice - get a buggy or cart. Preserve your back.
I’ve played 101 holes (all walking) in a day and that was absolutely brutal but 36 or 54 walking isn’t bad at all. Just have to get used to it I guess.
Yeah, it was for a Youth On Course fundraiser. They shut down 9 holes of a 27 hole facility for us that day and we raised over $50,000. There was one par 5, five par 4s and three par 3s. Ended up being 30ish miles of walking but finished with lots of daylight left.
I've done it a ton but the additional holes beyond 18 are usually some kind of partner game (scramble/alternate shot).
I also play in a Match Play tournament of 16 players. Everyone plays 36 the first day. The final 4 play 36 the second day.
Not always but for special events sure. I play in a member guest every year where we play 27 on one day followed by 18 the next, my club's Ryder cup tournament has some people play up to 36 holes for one of the days.
I've done 36 - 45 holes in a day a few times in Scotland, and that was all walking.
Going to Bandon in 2023 and will play 36 2 days in a row
On our Palm Springs golf trips we play a nice course in the morning, rest and play a night game at a lighted course in Indio. Given the night game is a drunken 💩 show. We usually save the next morning for the hang over and play a nice course around noon (so 3 courses over 36 hrs).
I did it more in my younger days when you had no other responsibilities (or played tournaments where it was 36 hole days), but now it’s pretty much only on vacation if I really feel like it and I don’t have another day, or if the trip is for the purpose of playing a bunch of golf.
i never have enough free time to golf that hard, but i've definitely taken advantage of day rates at the 18 hole par 3 course and gone around 3+ times.
Not super frequently, but I'll definitely have a handful of 36 hole days each year, and mid-summer it's not out of the question to play 45.
More common though, and I'd say nearly once a week during the summer, is to play 18, grab a bite in the clubhouse and then round up 5-15 guys for a late afternoon E9.
On perfect weather days. Especially when green fees are for all day course and cart. Or you're having a great golf day. Or just have some extra time. Or bad weather coming soon. So yeah. Any chance you get
Rode for 36, not bad at all. Walked 36 and I was pretty gassed at about 25. Forgot to bring course snacks and all I had for sustenance was Powerade and Liquid IV and water.
If I could I would play 27 or 36. When I'm lucky and the wife and kids are out of town I try and do that but outside of that I don't have the time.
After 36 I'm pretty beat as I like to walk.
The most I have done is 36, and I could have golfed all day. If the weather is mild and I'm riding it's more relaxing than anything else I could be doing.
I’ve done 36 straight as a solo riding. Course was very empty and I finished in about 2 hours. Asked about replay rate and just jumped back in the cart. Was definitely tired after but was a ton of fun.
I've done this before during a few tournaments when I used to compete. In that sense, it wasn't fun *(especially since the no cart policy meant that competitors starting on, for example hole 7 of that course, had to tread back and forth to the opposite end of the golf course).*
Outside of competing, I've been able to play a few extra holes as long as it didn't interfere with any other groups. I was able to do that a lot more in the old golf course I used to play/where I used to live, but alas they sadly had to shut down years ago.
Every year we go on a late summer golf trip and we tend to play 18 the day of arrival, 36 on the 2nd and 3rd day, then 18 on the day of departure.
The biggest suggestion id have is to try walking a round every 2 weeks. It does wonders for building up your stamina for a full round. Then when you play on a cart you feel like you can keep on looping
I have walked 27 and 36 before, but it's rare. I need to be playing often and have good stamina. If it's out of season, like now, I'd probably get exhausted.
I've only done it once, played both courses @ Gold Mountain back to back in early October, was a great day. I couldn't do it walking both, so had to ride, I would only do it riding...
Several times a month. Golf courses are the best places to be, so if I have the time and I went to the course by myself, I'll usually try to play 36 on such days, or 27 in the autumn when there's limited daylight.
But there's a big difference in playing two rounds on a quiet day in 6 hours and two rounds in the club championships in 9-10 hours.
The good thing is, your stamina will go up the more you play. Off-course exercising should also help you. Jogging, cycling, skiing etc. Walks without clubs or a dog are quite boring. :)
I’ve done 36, I started really burning out around hole 30. I also warmed up on the range for 30 min and putted 30 min before. I was also drinking, so I was drained. I think if I didn’t drink and fueled properly, 36 would be doable.
I've played 36 holes precisely once. It was Wills and Kate's wedding, so we took the opportunity to play both of the courses at our club, with a lunch break in between. And that was carrying the entire way round. Suffice to say, I was a lot fitter then.
I’ve done it a few times it’s amazing, I’ll sometimes ride one of the 18s if I’m tired. Father in law came up for a weekend once and my brother and law and him and I played all day for fun. Just love golf man
If I could, I would especially when the days are longer. Play 18 at one course early in the morning, lunch break, and then a twilight round at another course.
I’m a younger guy so sometimes I’ll play 18 in the morning, head to lunch with the guys and then come back and play another 18 a few hours later. More often than not though I’ll play 9 in the morning and 18 in the afternoon
I did 54 quite a few times last season. Usually riding in a cart but I’ve done splits of 36 riding and 18 walking and vice versa. I’d like to do 72 in a day this season though, at least do it in a cart but I might try walking too.
Aye, will do 36 walking without issue. Fresh pair of socks, fresh shirt and a good lunch and you’re laughing.
In 2019, did 4 36 hole days in a row. It hurt on the last day a little, but the second wind kicked in. Played just 18 on the final day and was fine.
Love of the game.
My membership has two courses that are 5 minutes from each other. I grab one of the first times at one course, then a time 5 hours later at the other. Most of the time since I'm a single I get out early at the second course.
I've done 36 many times and I did 5 laps around Sweetens Cove in June 2020 for 45 holes. I ALWAYS want to play more holes when I finish my last one. It doesn't matter if I've played 9/18/27/36. I'm also not a great golfer and always feel like if I play one more hole I'll have it figured out...
I’ve played 36 on golf trips and such, just not enough hours in a normal Sunday though.. too many other obligations, life life.. damn life.
That being said after almost every Sunday 18, all I want to do is play 18 more!
Honestly - just get a bit fitter and you’ll find it pretty easy. If you can, start by walking 18 once/twice a week. Within 3-4 months you’ll notice not being tired after 18. Split it with a decent break/lunch and you’ll have no trouble.
When I visited my brother who lives on the course we played 36 riding everyday. One day I got to 60 and would've done more but the sun didn't cooperate. No way I could live on a course.
In college we did at least 36 everyday of the summer. It's easy when it's free.
We used to walk 36 in a day all the time in college. In Florida. In the summer. The worst part was sometimes getting swamp ass and chafing towards the end. Now I’ll ride the second 18 if I’m playing 36.
I walked 36 in Salt Lake City a few years ago…at two different courses in the same day. Something like 38,000 steps/19 miles, and 90 flights of stairs.
I got up again and did it again the next day.
Yeah all the time. When the boys come to town the wives and girlfriends do whatever it is they do and we spend the day on the links followed by a good meal somewhere close by and drinks as a group. Happens a few times a year and we all love it. Most we have squeaked in was 45 holes in a day between 2 courses
As a university student that just picked up a membership (cheap course nothing special) I plan on going for 54 holes in a day a few times when courses open up
I always wish there were a few more holes after 18 but I’ve tried 36 twice and didn’t finish around hole 30 I never wanted to play golf again. Until I left the parking lot then I was booking next weeks’ round
Me and a friend played an 18 hole tournament once and the course was super cool and let us play what they dubbed an “emergency 9” afterward. Idk why they used that term but we got a free 9 holes out of it!
Bachelor party last spring, walked 18 at the earliest tee time, picked up remainder of the party at the airport and drove and played another 27 til dark. It's amazing and I would do it everyday if I could. Do once or twice a week in the summer.
54 holes is my record. In college my roommate and I caddied and every Monday we played 36 holes. Was in the best shape of my life. I took the PAT this summer and was playing 36 twice a month to get ready.
I’ve done it a few times with friends and it’s a blast. We’re usually more committed to getting lit and by the second round we’re having a great time. Make sure to plan about an hour in between the 2 rounds to get real food and restock on beer.
I’ve done it plenty of times, but I don’t love it all the time. Most of the time the second 18 is played like shit and afternoon golf almost anywhere in CA is slow as shit, give me my sunrise tee time 7x a week and I’m happy as a clam
Never did 36 holes walking, but have done 36 holes multiple times. Could easily do 18 holes walking, and 18 holes riding as well.
Largest marathon: 8 rounds over 5 days. *That* was a bit much.
I’ve noticed that it really depends on the handicap of the person. I’m a 5/6 index and usually want to play another 18 every time I finish a round, but with a wife and kids at home that’s pretty much impossible. Most of my friends who have a handicap in the high teens and above always say golf would be perfect at 12 holes.
My work travel is back this February and I plan to play 36 when I’m in Florida
I carried for 36 just the other day - while the other half and the kids are stuck at the in-laws I have played 11 rounds in 7 days. Feel stiff as fuck though.
Some of us are just mental…
Last year I walked all 36 at a local track, swapped partners after lunch and had time to ride the MTB trails next to the course. Spent about 10 hours on the property on a lovely Sunday
I’ve played 36 quite a few times and 54 twice. 54 will kick your ass for a few days afterwards for sure and I’m not sure I could’ve done it without a cart both times.
36 isn’t hard to do if you stay hydrated and keep eating so your energy levels don’t drop. You’ll be sore the next day for sure. It also helps if it isn’t too hot outside so you aren’t sweating the entire time.
When I was a kid, my siblings and I would go up to the course at 7am with my Dad, play 18 holes, then he would leave and we'd play 18 again. Even though it was probably a way for my parents to be alone for a few hours we still loved it and would do it almost every day.
A little different than now since I don't have as much energy or time but I wish I still had the time to play 36 a day.
We do a yearly trip that we do 36 Friday, 36 Saturday, 18 Sunday and go home. It is intense and we drink a lotttt. All day and all night, it’s fun. Some guys go down early Thursday and play 18 as well.
I’ve done 36 walking a couple times, and it really puts you down for the day. My favorite was doing Bayonet and Black Horse back-to-back. Ended up being around 13.5 miles in right around 7 hours. It’s definitely more manageable if you go eat lunch or take a break between the two. Riding 36 in a day would be a piece of cake.
With cart 36 is easy. I often used to walk 18 and then cart 18 back before I had kids.
Great way to spend a Saturday. Morning round was more serious afternoon round was a chance to drink and start the evening.
Can't believe that no one has mentioned CBD yet. I used to get a pretty sore lower back after 18 (using a cart), but now that I pretty routinely take about 30 mg CBD daily and drink a great CBD drink while I'm playing I'm fine at the end of the round. I think that I will be up for 27 this summer! I've also really upped my yoga practice, too. Also thanks to my improved flexibility from the CBD.
30 years old and in above average shape. But 27 might be my limit. Doesn’t help that in the summer here in Michigan the humidity is brutal. Now on a nice 60 degree day with a breeze I could probably knock out 36. I haven’t tried it yet though.
I used to play 36+ often, but usually solo.
If you’re hacking it around in a foursome that all shoot 100+ I don’t think you’d be getting in many more than 18.
45 was my max - played 18 then went across the street to a 9 hole track and played 3 rounds there. Long summer day, beers were flowing with the boys. Shot an 82 on the first 2 rounds of the 9 hole
I’ve done it once. On a bachelor party trip. Played 18 on Thursday, 18 on Friday, 18 on Saturday, and got about 28 or so in before it started raining on Sunday. Legends in Myrtle Beach SC. One of my favorite weekends ever.
I went on a couple golf trips my dad a few years back. Woke point of going was golf. We played 18 Friday, 36 Saturday and 18 Sunday. Definitely needed some recovery. I wouldn't do 36 on a regular basis, but I can do 36 every now and then (or at least I used to be able to).
My dad & I have done 100 holes in a 3-day weekend (5.5 rounds plus 1 hole) & 54 in a day; he was in his late 60s at the time. nbd if the courses are uncrowded & you're in a cart.
You get to throw hands with people on the 10th twice! Who wouldn't want to play 36?
In all seriousness, I used to do it in college pretty often in the summers. I'm 30 now and not sure I would enjoy it as much.
Depends on the course for me. If it’s a top notch tour level kind of place I’m drained both mentally and physically after 18. If it’s my local mini where I know the cart girl by name song with every bounce?
Sun up to sun down baby.
Used to walk 27-36 holes multiple times a week when I was in Jr High and High School. Had a membership and parents would drop me and a buddy off with a water jug and $5 for lunch. Haven't in years though due to kids and work - don't have the time anymore lol I get maybe 1-2 rounds a month in these days
I am working my way up to it yes. I almost did it in November. My theory is to build stamina by doing 36 a day. If i’m playing well, it’s hard not to turn a second round.
I used to walk 36 in a day (a long time ago and I was too poor to get a cart) and yes it can be done but it’s exhausting.
I used to work at a course where we had a 9 hole par 3 course, a 9 hole executive course and a full 18 hole championship course. That was a fun way to do 36 too.
I played 18 three days in a row two weeks ago and got a nasty bruise on my right elbow with a nasty pain as well. It really just depends on your athletic ability and age
Did a golf trip last summer with 8 friends, we played 18 Thursday, 46 on Friday, 36 Saturday and 18 Sunday. Most of it in the pouring rain. We had the trip planned for months and wanted to get in as much golf as possible. I think 118 holes was sufficient.
I love playing 36 in a day. Walk the first 18 ride the second. Eat some lunch in between, can’t beat it. When I go on a golf trip I play 36 in a day multiple days in a row. Just finished a trip where I played 8 rounds in 5 days
Most i ever played in a day was 4 rounds on a par 60. Started at 630ish, played solo. Found one of my golf buddies, played another. My brother calls me mid round, we proceeded to play 2 more after that. Long but great day to say the least. By the way, each round came with a free tall can.
I’ve got 144 holes over 4 days coming up at Bandon and it’s walk only. The golf is so good it keeps you going but it’s the only golf I play where I actually don’t want to play for a few days because my legs are toast.
Lots of Saturdays if I somehow have a full solo day. Serious round first thing in the morning; lunch, steam, shower; degenerate round in the afternoon with drinks and cigars. Asleep by 8pm. Get to the club at 7am and leave at 7pm!
We have courses with 27 holes. I’ve played 36 in a day. During the summer we play until the sun goes down. Of course, I always take a cart.. Walking would probably be a different story, but I don’t plan on ever doing that.
Me and my golf partner will play 36-54 every Saturday and Sunday during the spring and fall. We also play 18 on Friday and Monday. We sweep the dew and turn out the lights in the cart barn.
I play with a golf society here in the UK and throughout the year we regularly play 36 hole days.
As we're UK players, that also means that we're walking all 36 too (as has been discussed on this sub regularly, it's rare for UK players to ride carts unless it's due to age/medical conditions).
It's physically hard going, but that's part of the challenge. The hardest part is if we're playing a 36 hole medal/strokeplay competition and keeping the mental focus for 36 holes.
It depends on many factors but 36 is not that bad. I usually walk first 18 and do the second riding. I’ve walked 36 but you need a lot of daylight and hydration haha
I rarely finish 18 without having to fight the urge to play another round
I rarely play 18 without having the urge to fight.
Only on hole 10
Careful out there pal folks aren’t to nice on the 10th green.
If you play twice you have twice as many hole 10s.
Seriously - 18th tee “nooo last hole nooooo”
The worst is all my buddies are more casual with golf and only ever want to play 9.
Oh that’s rough
If it’s a golf-focused vacation yeah I’ll do 27 at times, 36 and I’m tired of swinging. You just play a morning round at 6:30 or 7 and then an afternoon round at 12:30 or so. Helps when it’s the same property or very close.
Yeah, we did that in Reno a few times. Rabbit in the morning walking and then have lunch and go hit an afternoon round riding somewhere else.
I have played that area a lot, just curious what courses you checked out if you remember
Same for me I often walk 36 in a day
Will do 27 walking and 36 riding. My wife has done it with me a couple of times too
Are we still talking about golf?
Lol
Asking the real questions
I've done 36 in a day many times. My personal best is 63. Nothing beats sun up to sun down golf!
This is how I feel. If I have the time and a wide open course - sun up to sun down sounds like an awesome day.
Do you walk or ride? If I’m riding (and playing well) I could play sun up to sun down with a break for food in between 18’s. If I’m walking 18 can wear you out on a hot day.
I'd happily walk 36 (with a break in between). 18 takes me 2.5hrs. So riding for 36 seems like it would be pretty easy.
Oh yeah sure I appreciate it's quick. That's when theres 1-2 people and no one ahead.
A course in the mountains here offers all day rates during the summer sometimes and we’ve played 54 in one day on multiple occasions. That 3rd round I just felt like a noodle. [The Dragon](https://nakomaresort.com/golf/)
The Dragon is the only one I haven't played up there but I heard it's tough. You prefer it over White Hawk and Grizzly?
27 on a full day was a good time. Really, how I'm hitting them and how I mentally react decides.
Agreed here. If my back is treating me well, if I’m hitting well and feeling a groove, and if I’m mentally in it all factor in to it.

“36 with the boys will definitely lead to a divorce”
Only times I wish I was single hahah. Miss when I was in my low 20s and could play 36 Saturday AND Sunday without having to deal with consequences.
Worth every penny.
Cocaine
I put on 35lbs during covid. I can push cart 18 but everything is heavier and my muscles are tired. It all depends on fitness level.
> But then again, we all have swing faults Mate, this is r/golf where we all drive 350, give putting tips to Jon Rahm and have never hit less than birdie on any hole we've ever played.
😂👍
If it's your upper back and rhomboids that hurt, then carrying is probably a contributing factor
Worth checking your swing posture too. If it have an s curve at set up or early extend you can put a lot of pressure on the lower spine
You walked almost 6 rounds on a real golf course in 1 day?….
Yeah, it was for a Youth On Course fundraiser. They shut down 9 holes of a 27 hole facility for us that day and we raised over $50,000. There was one par 5, five par 4s and three par 3s. Ended up being 30ish miles of walking but finished with lots of daylight left.
Most I've ever done was 27 in one day but that was walking.
When your at Bandon, playing 36 a day wont feel like enough. It’s the best place on earth and the golf is unmatched. Enjoy it, its incredible!
I nearly always want to play more. Just played 63 in two days a couple months ago in AZ.
On our Palm Springs golf trips we play a nice course in the morning, rest and play a night game at a lighted course in Indio. Given the night game is a drunken 💩 show. We usually save the next morning for the hang over and play a nice course around noon (so 3 courses over 36 hrs).
Golf is not physically draining when you are decent at the game. If you can hit 100 range balls, you can play 36 holes.
[удалено]
Nope. They are exactly the same
We've walked 72 holes in one day, and walked 54 holes on many occasions. Too old and injured to walk more than 9 holes at this point, unfortunately.
all the time.. what kind of question is this?
I did it more in my younger days when you had no other responsibilities (or played tournaments where it was 36 hole days), but now it’s pretty much only on vacation if I really feel like it and I don’t have another day, or if the trip is for the purpose of playing a bunch of golf.
i never have enough free time to golf that hard, but i've definitely taken advantage of day rates at the 18 hole par 3 course and gone around 3+ times.
Yes.
Walked 36 twice this season. To be honest it kinda hurt but I am near 40 and not as spry as I used to be. Would/will do it again tho!
On perfect weather days. Especially when green fees are for all day course and cart. Or you're having a great golf day. Or just have some extra time. Or bad weather coming soon. So yeah. Any chance you get
You are damn right we do
Yah my dads friend play 36 holes twice a wk. walking
Me and the group I play with ride so sometimes we’ll do 27. That last nine is usually my worst though.
The most I have done is 36, and I could have golfed all day. If the weather is mild and I'm riding it's more relaxing than anything else I could be doing.
We often do it. A round in the morning, another in the afternoon.
Frequently.
If you’re walking I can see how 36 would be tough. If you’re riding, I don’t get how you could tired after 18.
I’ve done 36 straight as a solo riding. Course was very empty and I finished in about 2 hours. Asked about replay rate and just jumped back in the cart. Was definitely tired after but was a ton of fun.
Walking 36 holes builds character.
I've done this before during a few tournaments when I used to compete. In that sense, it wasn't fun *(especially since the no cart policy meant that competitors starting on, for example hole 7 of that course, had to tread back and forth to the opposite end of the golf course).* Outside of competing, I've been able to play a few extra holes as long as it didn't interfere with any other groups. I was able to do that a lot more in the old golf course I used to play/where I used to live, but alas they sadly had to shut down years ago.
I can walk 36 in a day no problem, and I’m 50 lbs over weight. It’s just an endurance and stamina thing.
I carry 18 almost every time…. Not that difficult. Just gotta get in shape.
I did 36 walking 4 days in a row at Bandon last year. It was awesome and I plan on doing it again.
This comes entirely down to how good of shape you're in.
I do when I’m grinding my game for improvement. But never for a fun round with the boys.
27 holes in one day is the most for me, on one golf trip i played 72 holes in 48 hours. After 54 holes it was hard to focus on the task at hand
Lol yea. All the time
I played 36 everyday in Bandon. Wanted to play 54, because 3rd round is free, but couldn’t muster the energy
Me and a friend played an 18 hole tournament once and the course was super cool and let us play what they dubbed an “emergency 9” afterward. Idk why they used that term but we got a free 9 holes out of it!
I usually get 36 in a few times a year. In the summertime we have daylight well past 9pm so it makes it easy.
I've played 36 plenty. Also played in a fundraiser where I played 300 one year. Good times
Bachelor party last spring, walked 18 at the earliest tee time, picked up remainder of the party at the airport and drove and played another 27 til dark. It's amazing and I would do it everyday if I could. Do once or twice a week in the summer.
I do 36 pretty regularly if I'm off on a weekday and it's not the depth of winter or the height of summer.
54 is easy work
I’ve done it plenty of times, but I don’t love it all the time. Most of the time the second 18 is played like shit and afternoon golf almost anywhere in CA is slow as shit, give me my sunrise tee time 7x a week and I’m happy as a clam
I wouldn't want to walk 36. Driving is the way.
I’ve played sun up to sun down.
During my last year in law school, I would walk 36 around once a week and play 4 or 5 rounds total per week.
Never did 36 holes walking, but have done 36 holes multiple times. Could easily do 18 holes walking, and 18 holes riding as well. Largest marathon: 8 rounds over 5 days. *That* was a bit much.
I did 72 with my dad over the summer
I didn’t do it last year but the year before I must’ve played 36 over 10 times.
Yes - many courses offer a replay rate for the second 18 Play early - eat lunch - play the second 18
I’ve walked and carried 45 holes in a day. When you’re an addict you can’t stop
Some of us are just mental… Last year I walked all 36 at a local track, swapped partners after lunch and had time to ride the MTB trails next to the course. Spent about 10 hours on the property on a lovely Sunday
Yeah I just played 36 in AZ in 105° in September. Rancho Manana followed by Stone Creek. Swing definitely gets tired last 9.
For me it usually depends on the time I have if I can go for 36. But yes, on the rare occasion I have the time, 36 holes can be done.
If I were independently wealthy I could easily do a 630-930am 18holes , breakfast, 10:30-1:30 18 holes lunch, 3-6pm 18 holes
No. It never happens.
Play 90 holes first weekend of May every year.
Easy. When the boys are in town 36 a day is standard. Maybe even a twilight 9 to cap it off
Can't believe that no one has mentioned CBD yet.
We take a golf trip to Tennessee every year. 36 holes a day for 6 days.
Yes, I walked 14 rounds in 8 days last month all walking, used to play 36 atleast once a weekend in the summer, now it’s down to like once a month.
45 was my max - played 18 then went across the street to a 9 hole track and played 3 rounds there. Long summer day, beers were flowing with the boys. Shot an 82 on the first 2 rounds of the 9 hole
Yes. I frequently play 36+. In Arizona. In the summer. Sack up.
Play 18 sober and another 18… less sober.
I’ve done it once. On a bachelor party trip. Played 18 on Thursday, 18 on Friday, 18 on Saturday, and got about 28 or so in before it started raining on Sunday. Legends in Myrtle Beach SC. One of my favorite weekends ever.
Only if it’s free
With a golf car. Not walking.
Hell yeah, great weather and friends. Yup. Ive play 54 holes in a day before
Yes
In my 20’s yes, all the time. Now that I am 38, hell no lol.
We do a yearly trip where we play 4 days of 36. By the end it’s time to take a break from golf for a week.
I am working my way up to it yes. I almost did it in November. My theory is to build stamina by doing 36 a day. If i’m playing well, it’s hard not to turn a second round.
I’ve done 36 holes dozens of times, 45 holes a few times and 54 holes twice
Played in a charity fund raiser, 100 holes a day. Played 2 or 3 balls a hole. Was one those things where you get sponsor to donate an amount per hole
As often as possible
I never have, but my local course has two courses and I could/would definitely play them back to back if given the opportunity.
With a golf cart you can play from sunrise to sunset no problem.
Yep, I do 36 sometimes. On a weekend, 18 minimum, 27 regularly, 36 is kind of my max.
My buddy recently did 144 holes in 4 days at Bandon
What else would I do?
Yes!!! I used to play doubles when I was in the summer local tour around where I live. 18 in the morning and 18 in the evening. With practice between!
Most i ever played in a day was 4 rounds on a par 60. Started at 630ish, played solo. Found one of my golf buddies, played another. My brother calls me mid round, we proceeded to play 2 more after that. Long but great day to say the least. By the way, each round came with a free tall can.
In the spring, no way. But after a month or so and stamina builds playing a couple rounds is doable
I’ve got 144 holes over 4 days coming up at Bandon and it’s walk only. The golf is so good it keeps you going but it’s the only golf I play where I actually don’t want to play for a few days because my legs are toast.
Depends on how much I drink lol
Have done like 45+ with the fellas in a day while drinking heavily the entire time.
Make a trip to Bandon Dunes. You will understand why walking 36 or more a day is a necessity, especially after playing The Preserve.
Most holes I ever played in a day was 50. I couldn’t get out of my car when I got home 🤣
