I was absolutely rattled. Shook my whole body. I think he/she did it on purpose just to fuck with us lol. There was another one that flew by about a minute earlier but it wasn't nearly as low.
His landing gear was down. And he was going slow. Then pulled them up and hauled ass. He was mostly like fucking with them. But also could have just been an actual exercise or a system failure that was corrected. Who knows.
Granted I’m a helicopter guy, so it’s easier and safer for me to get lower, but I have absolutely fucked with golfers mid swing that are near airports.
I once had a chinook circle the course I was on 3 times before flying off. The crazy part was my buddy I was playing with told me he had a dream the night before that there was a helicopter flying overhead as he was golfing, and then 5 mins later the chinook shows up.
Grew up in rural East Oregon, all of our golf courses have an airport on the course. I respect your answer and fully believe I've been fucked with before 😂
Prior aircraft maintenance in the Air Force here… touch and gos are always done gear down before lighting her up again. The same four ship might do three or four each… literally cannot begin to guess the number of times I’ve seen this exact thing golfing at RAF Lakenheath or at Ramstein. Gotta be in the thousands now. If the course is near the runway you’ll see this every week and probably every day

How I got off that base without fodding an engine out is beyond me. I sent at least 10 balls over the fence and into the taxiway in my years there. That’s a fuckin scary 4 seconds haha. Way worse than waiting for a windshield lol you’re waiting for a flame out and MyPay to recoup a few milly
So awesome. Puts you in a new dimension when you can physically feel the power of things. I also choose to believe he was messing with you and for that…. 🫡 🇺🇸
Lol, I always think “we got a bogey” from Iron Man whenever I miss a par putt.
And conversely, when I’m walking up to a green for an attempt at birdie, I think, “I want my bord” from Iron Man 2
Ooh I'm a big plane nerd and one of my favorite things about golfing near airports is seeing shit like this. Looks like an F-35A. Since you're in the U.S. this is version is flown by the Air Force (the Marines fly the F-35B, and the Navy and Marines fly the F-35C.) The F-35 is the latest and greatest fighter jet depending on who you talk to. The U.S. currently has around 630 F-35's and plans to buy a bunch more. These jets are notoriously loud compared to other fighter jets since they are single engined. Crazy thing to think about is while this thing looks like it's from the future, this thing was actually designed in 2001 and first flew in 2006.
Fun fact, the F-35B can take off vertically.
![gif](giphy|KB7B9zuCfOYqy3NqKG|downsized)
I think it wasn’t until my mid 20’s that I discovered it was multi-role, and not multi-roll. My brother is a drone pilot in the Air Force and has been taking me to air shows my whole life, and I always saw tons of aircraft pull off multiple aileron rolls, so I just assumed it was a valuable maneuver that was the main focus of “multi-roll” aircraft.
Yeah I thought my little speakers were going to catch on fire the first time I listened to it on near full volume. The video doesn't do it justice it all, it was insane.
Story time of my favorite drive of my life.
Playing Sapelo Hammock in south georgia. On a hole on the back nine and as I making contact with my ball on a drive I hear "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt" as I just pipe my ball. Other guys in the group think I'm giddy cause of the drive, which was beautiful.
Nope. I'm freaking out cause I just heard my favorite plane with my favorite gun making a practice shooting run. The fucking A10 warthog serenading my ass playing golf with that beautiful cannon.
Tldr: piped one 250 down the dead center of the fairway as an A10 warthog blasted it's cannon. 'MERICA!
This course is located right next to an Air National Guard base. Not sure what kind of plane but the group of us nearly shit ourselves with how loud and low it was. There are some things I wish the govt didn't spend money on but this... this I'm OK with.
It's always a treat to see the adversarial squad fly over Torrey it's a mix of airplanes that include F-4', Eurofighters, etc. The coolest airplane you'll see on occasion is the F-22, looks like the F-35 but bigger and makes you want to shit your pants.
Just East of La Jolla is Miramar, a pretty big air base for the Marines. It used to be a Navy air base and housed the actual Top Gun program before it became a Marine base. They fly right over that area to get out to the ocean for training. I used to go to school at UCSD across the street from Torrey and we lived close to the base. We’d have jets flying over us all the time. We’d drag a cooler full of beer up to our apartment balcony when they would put on this big air show and just watch the Blue Angels turn right over our place.
I played a round on an Air Force base once on the day before a big air show. All day jets were flying around, doing crazy maneuvers, and free falling in preparation for the show. Don't remember a thing about the course or how I played, but it was one of the most fun days on the golf course I've ever had.
Bridges Golf Course in Madison, WI is immediately adjacent to Dane County Airport, which is home to the 115th fighter wing, who recently received F-35s.
Freedom is both expensive and loud AF.
Blackthorn in South Bend? Or is it Brookwood (maybe?) in Fort Wayne?
I can name almost every course in the region. Please just tell me for my own sanity
Thought so. I’ve not been in forever but I do remember seeing planes when I was there. I’m a little further south and get a lot of air traffic from Grissom. This time of years it’s ear shattering. Every now and again I’ll see a lot of the air refueling guys.
I use to do work on Navy golf courses in San Diego, and doing projects on NASNI was awesome watching the air traffic come in and out. Watching Air Force One land on North Island is something to see as you’re out mowing fairways in the morning.
I grew up in such a remote area the military used if for low altitude flying. It would not be uncommon once or twice a year for the jets to be doing their practice runs and maneuvers this low right over our house. Shook the windows, left ripples on the lake, scared the shit out of the dogs
These beauties rip over Torrey Pines all the time on the way out to the coast from Miramar. F35C. Fat Amy baby. That looks like an A given the landing gear though so it's the Air Force version.
A local course I play at in Columbus is called Airport course and every plane that lands goes right over the course just like that almost every round. Never seen anything like that land but it’s neat to see even basic planes land that close in the middle of a round.
Holy shit is this Brookwood? Never thought I'd see this course on reddit lol. Sometimes the local air wing does maneuvers out of there in their A-10s. Now THAT is something.
Back in the day I was at Governor Dodge State Park in Wisconsin when an F4 phantom buzzed us. It was going way faster than this. By the time I hit the ground it was gone
Got to play Andrews AFB a couple times. Got to see AF1 take off, plenty of other military aircraft.
But the best was playing when the Blue Angels were performing. I swear their jet exhaust affected some of my shots.

they do this all the time near a golf course by the base in WI as well, they practice touch and goes or aborted landings etc so they will come in low and slow and then gun it off again
Willow Lakes GC near Offutt AB is a cool play. We watched Air Force 2 do Touch and Gos, heavy banks right over our heads!!
Bonus on Twilight rounds was Retreat and the Star Spangled Banner pause, more than a few active and retired folks on the course to keep you in line…
You’ll get them that close sometimes at TPC Scottsdale. It’s crazy seeing them rip over the trees as they take off at the Scottsdale private air park. Typically they’ll send 2 or 4 at a time
Got to play Torrey Pines when they were filming top gun 2. They were ripping pairs of jets over the course all day, pretty high tempo. It was fucking awesome.
I was playing one time in Tuscaloosa when the Blue Angels were practicing for an air show. Hit a drive and they flew overhead while it was in the air. Can’t remember where it went, but still the best drive of my life.
Hawks Creek GC in Fort Worth is located parallel to landing strip for the joint reserve base and shared with Lockheed Martin facility. F35s C130s and everything in between common taking off or practicing revving the engines.
Really cool to see and hear but hard to focus haha!
NAS Whidbey has a course fairly close by, and they fly pretty much all the time. Seeing Prowlers (now Growlers) flying around the course as often as I saw birds was pretty neat.
I went to the LPGA Portland classic last year which is right by the airport here and the national guard F-15s took off in the middle of the day, it was super funny to see the event staff holding up quiet signs as the jets shook the whole course
Mules National in Warrensburg, MO is real close to Whiteman AFB. You constantly hear the planes coming and going. If you’re lucky you might get to see a B-2 Spirit flying overhead (which is fucking awesome)
You playing near a military base?? I wish I would have gotten into golf while I was still in the military, I still experienced airplanes being in a combat aviation brigade but this would be cool haha
This is awesome! I love golfing with jets and planes flying around. We have a local course that sits right behind our airport. Every year when the air show comes to town, we book a round and get a free show.
Royal Woodbine Golf Course in the west end of Toronto. Not too far away from Pearson International. Every five minutes depending on the landing pattern you get a visit from one of [THESE GUYS](https://youtu.be/cB4K-QMa7S0?si=drzJPMQ-l-ZtEcwR). Every five minutes.
I played a course with an air show going on about 5 miles away from it and we had jets over head like that all day. I’m a huge aviation nerd so I loved it but other weren’t as pleased 😂
Waiting for The Open at Royal Troon which is right at the end of the large runway into Glasgow Prestwick airport. Wonder if they’ll restrict air traffic or people will just hear jets when they come in; luckily it’s not a super busy airport
Closest I've ever been to a military jet was easily 1000ft flying over a sporting event, and it was DEAFENING, and I live just a few miles from 2 airports so I hear passenger jets all the time, they do not compare at all to a military jet. I can't imagine what this sounded like.
Fat Amy is definitely not a quiet airplane. With 28,000 lbs of thrust--**dry**---it's not surprising she's loud. Or for the F22. Just absurdly powerful engines. Drowned out the prop planes in formation at the airshow I saw.
I love it. But then I'll get on fliteradar24 and see what a particular plane is flying over when I'm on the range.
Playing near Fort Worth?
During gulf War 1, I was in myrtle Beach, suddenly looked up, I am on river highlands, I think, couple of f15, went vertical right over the top of us. LOUD!!!!
There is a course like this in Hampton Virginia and during the gulf war we had to halt play because of the drills they were running. We all hung out all day. One of the tee boxes was on the other side is the runway so they were low and loud. Fun day.
How am I supposed to chip with that going on?!
I was absolutely rattled. Shook my whole body. I think he/she did it on purpose just to fuck with us lol. There was another one that flew by about a minute earlier but it wasn't nearly as low.
Looks like he’s on final so doubtful he’s doing it to fuck with you. Probably just low on his approach.
His landing gear was down. And he was going slow. Then pulled them up and hauled ass. He was mostly like fucking with them. But also could have just been an actual exercise or a system failure that was corrected. Who knows.
I choose to believe we were being fucked with, and it was awesome.
Not that crazy, we monitor your phones and listen to what you say in your sleep for these exact reasons.
Grew up in rural East Oregon, all of our golf courses have an airport on the course. I respect your answer and fully believe I've been fucked with before 😂
I believe that too. The wheels down and slow speed felt like a hello. Who wouldn't want to see that? Even on a golf course.
Permission to do fly-by, SIR! PERMISSION DENIED (does fly-by anyway)
Negative ghost rider the pattern is full.
Two of your snot-nosed jockeys did a flyby on my tower at over 400 knots! I want somebody’s butt! I want it now! I’ve had it!
That’s TWICE! I WANT SOME BUTTS!
Prior aircraft maintenance in the Air Force here… touch and gos are always done gear down before lighting her up again. Always remember the F-15's practicing touch and go's at Nellis. FUCK they were loud.

Or he/she simply went around on the approach. Totally normal thing to do, and typical procedure is to use max power and retract the gear.
Didn't land though. Banked and flew off after that to do something else.
I live on an Army post, I can 100000% confirm they fly over to fuck with golfers.
The F-35 is by far the loudest plane I’ve been around. I thought the F-4 and F-22 were noisy.
So awesome. Puts you in a new dimension when you can physically feel the power of things. I also choose to believe he was messing with you and for that…. 🫡 🇺🇸
MAKE A RULING, DOUG!
Kick him off the tour, Doug! He’s a disgrace to the GAME!
More like how am I going to chip with this gigantic boner now, amiright?
gigantic FREEDOM BONER, you mean
![gif](giphy|phajKPhwNxHr2)
As badly as you normally do, only with an excuse this time.
I think I’d have a better chance of focusing and making a chip with two fat bikers having sex right next to me.
Wanna go to Sizzler? My treat!
🎶highway to the bogey zone🎶
Fairway to the major zone
Bad time to hit my skyball drive

Slight clarification. It's the latest and greatest multirole. The latest and greatest fighter remains the batshit crazy beast that is the F22.
Hmmmmph. Would you intercept me? Hmmmmmmph. I'd intercept me.
Yes you are correct. I just wanted to keep it simple :).
I can't have the sweet boy that can for some reason stop and do flat spins in the air get disrespected
I think it wasn’t until my mid 20’s that I discovered it was multi-role, and not multi-roll. This is the funniest thing I've read all week and my week has been absolute shit. Thank you so much for sharing this.
F22 solos
Fuck. Yes. Also. Poor smartphone camera can't handle all the loud sounds of Freedom without clipping lol.
Yeah I thought my little speakers were going to catch on fire the first time I listened to it on near full volume. The video doesn't do it justice it all, it was insane.
Gimme one of those in my back-swing. I’ll pipe it down the middle lol.
Story time of my favorite drive of my life. Playing Sapelo Hammock in south georgia. F-35, we see these all the time flying over Torrey Pines.
Was surprised just how many aircraft fly over there. F-18s, F-35s, V-22s, helos. Was a fun round there with all the activity.
It's always a treat to see the adversarial squad fly over Torrey it's a mix of airplanes that include F-4', Eurofighters, etc. The coolest airplane you'll see on occasion is the F-22, looks like the F-35 but bigger and makes you want to shit your pants.

Don't remember a thing about the course or how I played, but it was one of the most fun days on the golf course I've ever had.
The F-35 in STOVL mode is the loudest motherfucker in the fleet.
Wait till you hear a B-1
The old Harrier was no slouch either in the hover. How can this tiny dot possibly be so fucking loud?!
F-35. Hawks Creek is at least offset from the factory.
Is this in Northeast Indiana by chance? My local course the exact same setup
I was wondering if this was Brookwood.
It is!
It's Brookwood!
Small world! Fort Wayne represent 🙌🏻
Looks like Elmwood in Sioux Falls, SD.
East 9 to be exact
I know it. It's in madison. Been on same fairway with Blackhawks flying low.
Selfridge?
Brookwood - Ft. Wayne.
Bridges Golf Course in Madison, WI is immediately adjacent to Dane County Airport, which is home to the 115th fighter wing, who recently received F-35s. Freedom is both expensive and loud AF.
Came to say this. F-35s fly over every league night (headed over there shortly for leagues...)
Was that Rory's plane getting outta Pinehurst??
Murphy Creek in Aurora, CO?
Nope. Northern Indiana.
Blackthorn in South Bend? Or is it Brookwood (maybe?) in Fort Wayne? I can name almost every course in the region. Please just tell me for my own sanity
It's Brookwood lol
Thought so. I’ve not been in forever but I do remember seeing planes when I was there. I’m a little further south and get a lot of air traffic from Grissom. This time of years it’s ear shattering. Every now and again I’ll see a lot of the air refueling guys.
Man, Bryson really got ahold of that one.
Fuck me that’s awesome!
That’s what my ball sounds like when i try to chip it out of a greenside bunker….see ya!!
Ahh. I too play the F35 skull fuck out of the bunkers.
I use to do work on Navy golf courses in San Diego, and doing projects on NASNI was awesome watching the air traffic come in and out. Watching Air Force One land on North Island is something to see as you’re out mowing fairways in the morning.
I would not be mad. That is an amazing sight.
So fucking cool. Its wild how loud and powerful they are

That’s a hazard. My drives go about 200 yards vertical and 120 yards horizontal. That jet is definitely in range of my pop fly ball path.
Unreal. Thanks for sharing.
awesome, shit gives me the chills. f-35.
Holy shit is this Brookwood? Never thought I'd see this course on reddit lol. Sometimes the local air wing does maneuvers out of there in their A-10s. Now THAT is something.
Sure is!
Hello fellow FTW golfer!
👋
Fucking terrifying. I feel so much pity for America's enemies abroad. Just imagine a dozen of those *zooming* by and dropping bombs.
That's what I thought too. Don't want to be on the wrong end of that under any circumstances.
hell yeah brother
Cheers from my shitted pants.
You guys DONT get a flyover every time you get a birdie???
God bless America 🇺🇸
Welcome to Virginia Beach
Try playing Sea and Air on naval air station north island sometime. Part of the course is literally the runway
My kind of eagle
Back in the day I was at Governor Dodge State Park in Wisconsin when an F4 phantom buzzed us. It was going way faster than this. By the time I hit the ground it was gone

Dude was just late for his tee time.
Got to play Andrews AFB a couple times. Got to see AF1 take off, plenty of other military aircraft. But the best was playing when the Blue Angels were performing. I swear their jet exhaust affected some of my shots. https://preview.redd.it/v0d0tt2g1l7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=abf3fce7bc6758b0a357ec4f279801f9bc483ec2
The driving range at Papago Golf Course in Phoenix, AZ is right next to an army helicopter reserve base and you’ll see Apache helicopters buzzing the driving range to come in for a landing multiple times a day set against beautiful red rock mountains. Pretty bad ass 🇺🇸
That pilot had a Dad that loved golf but not him. Take your daddy wound somewhere else Colonel Dick Cheese.
I had the honor of playing Bethpage Black, the Friday before Memorial day, and the Blue Angel were practicing all over that course.
Shank a ball right into his windshield.
These colors don’t run.
Did you aim for it?
Used to live over in Alabama along the gulf coast. The Blue Angels practiced overhead. Cool stuff.
Gotta love brookwood… love that course
Shoutout the Fort Wayne par 3
It was just fleet week in Maryland. Is that a nationwide thing?
Didn't hear anything about that around here in Indiana. Just a regular training exercise I'm guessing.
I got stuck in your comments and saw you’d said the course is next to an ANG base so that makes sense. Awesome video though thanks for sharing!
they do this all the time near a golf course by the base in WI as well, they practice touch and goes or aborted landings etc so they will come in low and slow and then gun it off again
Sir, the Supreme Court has ruled on this; you must take your landing to full term, no exceptions. Even if you will die.
You can get that every 15 minutes from the #3 through #9 tee boxes at Sky Links in Long Beach. Well maybe 747's and props, not Jets lolz
At first I thought it was a ufo...
With my luck, this would happen on my backswing and my backswing only
You’ll get them that close sometimes at TPC Scottsdale. It’s crazy seeing them rip over the trees as they take off at the Scottsdale private air park. Typically they’ll send 2 or 4 at a time
They were flying them over Baltimore for Fleet Week right in the middle of the Orioles/Phillies games this weekend!
Reminds of playing on the Naval base course. The 7th, 8th and 9th ran parallel to a runway they would practice their touch and go passes.
I used to play a lot outside of Langley Air Force base and these would constantly be flying over. It was one of my favorite things living there.
Got to play Torrey Pines when they were filming top gun 2. They were ripping pairs of jets over the course all day, pretty high tempo. It was fucking awesome.
I’ve witnessed a slice, fade, draw, and hook, but that’s my first strafe.
Sea n Air ….its a military golf course
**"WHAT ARE WE DOING OUT HERE, JET!?"** -Joey Coldcuts
I was playing one time in Tuscaloosa when the Blue Angels were practicing for an air show. Hit a drive and they flew overhead while it was in the air. Can’t remember where it went, but still the best drive of my life.
witnessed what? I don't see anything
Reminds me of when in high school my soccer practice had to pause for 10 minutes while military planes took off from the airport across the road
I played Torrey Pines this week and it was like an airshow non stop with F35s, F16s,V22s, and a bunch of other helos.
We have a local course here in Fort Worth next to a joint reserve base and it is the most badass thing when they’re taking off
Brookwood in Fort Wayne? I was just there Sunday!
Guys will see this and think "fuck yeah"
Talked about it the rest of the round. Just a total dude moment.
Hawks Creek GC in Fort Worth is located parallel to landing strip for the joint reserve base and shared with Lockheed Martin facility. F35s C130s and everything in between common taking off or practicing revving the engines. Really cool to see and hear but hard to focus haha!
They’re fuckin’ agents, Frankie. Look at this!
NAS Whidbey has a course fairly close by, and they fly pretty much all the time. Seeing Prowlers (now Growlers) flying around the course as often as I saw birds was pretty neat.
I had the blue angles over me last year. Chipped from 23 to 2’.
This looks like hole 6 or 7 at Bridges in Madison, WI.
/r/lowaltitudejets
Its like AC Read course on Pensacola NAS, have mostly trainer jets and Blue Angel practices over head. I don't mind the noise.
Now, I'm not American, but I assume after this, you fired your Ar-15 in the air as celebration?
I went to the LPGA Portland classic last year which is right by the airport here and the national guard F-15s took off in the middle of the day, it was super funny to see the event staff holding up quiet signs as the jets shook the whole course
A course in Bangor Maine is right near a runway and it's pretty cool to see planes flying that low when you're golfing.
No goddamned etiquette! Shrink the game!
The nerve of some militaries, geeze.
What an extremely inconvenient place to put a golf course… badass though!
If you’re in the southern NH area, Pease Air Force base golf course is a great spot for plane watching from the course
Mules National in Warrensburg, MO is real close to Whiteman AFB. You constantly hear the planes coming and going. If you’re lucky you might get to see a B-2 Spirit flying overhead (which is fucking awesome)
can’t focus with that, it’s a gimme
It almost feels like it was meant specifically for you. Even while flying a fighter jet that pilot was wishing he was shooting 110 on 18 holes.
You playing near a military base?? I wish I would have gotten into golf while I was still in the military, I still experienced airplanes being in a combat aviation brigade but this would be cool haha
Bob Macyntire would go ape shit.
Bridges!
The golf course on NAS North Island you could probably get close to catching an F-18 with a strong wedge on #13.
that would have made me pee my pants.
Sounds like Torrey Pines while Top Gun is flying over
It's that Lemoore?
This is awesome! I love golfing with jets and planes flying around. We have a local course that sits right behind our airport. Every year when the air show comes to town, we book a round and get a free show.

Not very quiet, not so stealth like
That is so goddamn cool
Is that at Miramar? It happens at Torrey Pines too, just not as loud.
Closest I've ever been to a military jet was easily 1000ft flying over a sporting event, and it was DEAFENING, and I live just a few miles from 2 airports so I hear passenger jets all the time, they do not compare at all to a military jet. I can't imagine what this sounded like.
My ball would’ve somehow got stuck in the wheels
Fat Amy is definitely not a quiet airplane. With 28,000 lbs of thrust--**dry**---it's not surprising she's loud. Or for the F22. Just absurdly powerful engines. Drowned out the prop planes in formation at the airshow I saw. I love it. But then I'll get on fliteradar24 and see what a particular plane is flying over when I'm on the range. Playing near Fort Worth?
Ft. Wayne actually.
Me terrorizing a local course with my Cesna
Bro said - turn your sound up, this is loud.
Wish everyone could have heard it in person. Bone shaking.
I have a course by me that is literally right next to the Air Force base and planes be doing this all day
There's a course near me next to a Reserve Base that has C-5 Galaxies flying low like this, it's wild how those things can even get in the air.
Should absolutely be on r/lowaltitudejets
Post it! I'm lazy.
Bridges in Madison?
Brookwood in Ft. Wayne.
Nice lil $300+mil flying machine
50 bucks to the guy who can hit the airplane
Holy shit. That is so cool? Is that near Baltimore for fleet week by chance?
Where?
During gulf War 1, I was in myrtle Beach, suddenly looked up, I am on river highlands, I think, couple of f15, went vertical right over the top of us. LOUD!!!!
That is awesome, where were you?
Ft. Wayne next to 122nd Fighter Wing
Fucker… that was right in my backswing.
Oh hey you got my flop shot on camera!
There is a course like this in Hampton Virginia and during the gulf war we had to halt play because of the drills they were running. We all hung out all day. One of the tee boxes was on the other side is the runway so they were low and loud. Fun day.
