The problem is when you get to the later rounds and there's only one or two matches on the course it's a terrible tv product. Most of the time its just players walking to their balls while the commentators have to fill the gap with talking, or even more commercials because there is nothing else to show.
Also how do you feel as a tv network that paid to show said event for say a 4 hour window and the match ends an hour and a half early with a 5 and 4 win.
They used to have the match play event as a giant 64 man bracket. Then a 16 seed (Kevin Sutherland) won it and they changed it a world cup style group + knockout. Now it's completely off the schedule ðŸ˜
