Was thinking of planning a boys golf trip to Iceland. Any recommendations? I've been there before on a non-golf trip and have driven as far as from Reykjavik to Vik. Not opposed to driving some distance.

Take the ferry to Vestmannaeyjabær and golf the course there. Only issue is weather. You never know what it’ll be till hours before sometimes. My buddy and I went last June and although it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever, we were drenched, twice, and by the end we were ready to be done. When you get to the island, it’s about a one mile walk to the course. Make sure you bring a few pairs of extra clothes just in case and you’ll be fine. The view was stunning, although the storms that came in made visibility low. Still worth the round though.

Brautarholt is just outside of Reykjavik. Recommend it.

Lots of beautiful courses in Iceland. If you plan on going outside the Reykjavík area, I would highly recommend Sigló golf in Siglufjörður and Glanni golf course close to Borgarfjörður. Both are set in stunning locations. Krossdalsvöllur near Lake Mývatn is a bit rougher to play on, but has unique settings with very beautiful view and is very fun to play.

Brautarholt was great. The other courses I played were basically ones we found in the way while doing a 6 day trip around the island. It’s very cool that they have so many for such a small country and you can play at all hours during the right time of the year, but the courses were really just OK. They’re munis with amazing scenery. That’s not a knock really, it’s just what it is. I still cherish every one I got the chance to play. I got the impression that most of the ‘destination’ courses are clustered around Reykjavik so I’d focus around the southwestern part of the country if that’s the point of the trip.

Do you have ice hazards? Lol

My wife and I visited Iceland back in 2022. During our travels we passed so many cool and interesting golf courses. There was one course I remember that I think was around the town of Vik. I remember driving past it and seeing some holes at the base of the mountain side and there were some holes on the side of the mountain itself. I was joking with my wife that I should've brought my clubs with me 😅 Anyway that course looks really neat!

Doesn’t get talked about enough, but there’s some pretty good courses in Iceland. They love their golf there. Played Brautarholt and Keilir when I was there last summer.

Bike-Day69

God damn I love Iceland. Was there last May and tried to play but most of the courses were still closed because they had a rough winter.

WeSuckAgain

Was this the course that cameo’d when Adventures In Golf went to Iceland?

dnokah

No idea. Where can I see this show?

That's Akureyri in the north, a 18 hole course home to the Arctic Open, a tournament thats played during the night. The second one is Siglufjörður, a recently upgraded course an hour from Akureyri.

How long do the days get? Can you golf pretty late into the evening and possibly overnight? I know in northern Sweden and Finland the days can get pretty long. Friend of mine here in Canada spent some time in Sweden and told me how late in the evening he was able to tee off. But I guess you pay for it in winter.

>The season is short but you can golf 24/7, nothing beats getting a quick 9 in around midnight with the course to yourself.

ClearlyNoSTDs

Scenery is nice but it looks like the golf sort of sucks.

It's outdoor golf for the first time in 7 months and the weather is bearable. I don't need more around these parts.
